  1. well, from what i heard .its mainly logging roads.and legal. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=113195&highlight=monstaru but as with any new area to you,be considerate.please do not be disrespectful to places that are not marked as trails. it is hard enough keeping our name proper as hardly any of the four wheeling community recognizes what we do .it is all bigger and better out there. don't be a fool....... and everything should remain OK. respect where ever you go.please.cheers, brian
  2. will get run to a t-case.......so, no probs here either then.........cheers, brian
  3. nice mang, hope to see you at walker valley.........:)cheers,brian
  4. take it apart......as far as you are comfortable.if you have to number parts, then number them. put safety glasses on, and or a shield.spray the livin hell out of everything. it s not uncommon for me to use three cans of brake cleaner.the green kind. put the little hose on, and go to town.....pay attention to where the orifces' are directd (if your a ********************* and do not wear a shield, or glasses.) i have dousched myself directly in the eyeballs before.just thinkin, oh, it'll be alright..... clean everything.get the proper gaskets, or cut them out of gasket material. with a miniature ball pien you can cut them from the part itself....just as a razor blade and piece of wood will get you farther than you think.and just do it.don't let wonder boy^^^^^ talk you out of it. carb resealing is not that hard.most often times a good reseal will get you another ton of miles.and perform.yes they are persnickety, but can be handled..... sure , it may still have a problem, or not act right but run...because something is out of spec.but, the replacement parts are abundant now because people are tossing them to use webers. but , you should read ************ before you use it.mixing or even using the wrong chemical on a part cannot only ruin the parts sometimes, but also deem the user inoperable for an undisclosed amount if time. oh, and remember it all depends on what kind of money you want to spend.you can buy gasket material, brake kleen , and some towels for like 15 bucks....add the inhouse items of q-tips, razorblades, razorknife.... i usually just use a blade, after tracing with a good ball point pen.so you can leave an indentation to follow. whatever, to each his own... cheers, brian
  5. so, unbolt the control arm....?
  6. i would clean your pcv, and take your EGR valve off and clean it as well.some sea foam through a vacuum line , or the top of the carb will do wonders for you as well. replace all vacuum lines.it is really cheap to do.cheers, brian
  7. the KYB catalog is stupendous.........
  8. it's pretty easy mikey, you'll defenitely get it when you open her up......cheers, brian
  9. i drove it like that for a while, and had no problem , ever.i miss my old car..... even asked about it once.they said as long as it was visible. even better than putting it on my dash he said..........cheers, brian
  10. did someone leave a card in your spoke?:grin:cheers, brian
  11. were the axles hard to get on?they may be to compressed , or to short? i am assuming that you spun the diff a few times with stubs in it out of the car,you know, by turning the pinion?etc......cheers, brian
  12. nice sparks.i drove on a balljoint nut once, with NO tire.....i could not imagine doing it for like 40k.....
  13. bumpers...... ok folks, here are some examples of what you can do with a a bit of inginuity , or resourcefulness .........
  14. its a pain in the rump roast huh?:lol:what helped me when i did it was to take just a tad bit of meat off at a time.it really will make the fit easier to deal with .the studs can get cockeyed from being jolted around when they are mounted on the car....it is wise to take care of that issue before it really becomes an ISSUE.....cheers, brian
  15. is exit 38 legal?cheers, brian
  16. looks good!you should give a run down of the gearing....cheers, brian
  17. are you in cheney?or are you on the WET side? the pressure plate is "sprung" remember......so it does move when you tighten it. no idea about the little ring you speak of.probably from the throwout bearing maybe?like an outer lip or something?cheers, B
  18. just remember, all of things have been contemplated, some of them even manufactured, and all of the same "fuse" issues become apparent.street driveability usually diminishes the more fabwork you do to these cars. your not the first, won't be the last, and probably not the only one that will get tired of trying to go "further " with these cars.... the wheel was already invented.just roll with it..... its all good, build something.its fun.cheers, brian
  19. you use them all the time?;)cheers, brian
  20. i never said ANYTHING about drivin on the road:)......cheers, brian
  21. noone asked if this was a fulltime4wd trans either:).....so , i doubt it will "bind" like you seem to think it will their frogboy.....
  22. i don't hink i even explained what had happened.that was the first time i ever drove the brat farther than down the block.it had just came out of the garage for the first time.after installing the first hybrid aluminum/steel BYB lift kit i might add. i did not really expect to drive it, and when i pulled it off of the trailer at the shop, i was so damned excited that i drove it around the block, then pulled it in.we fixed her up.then he asked if i wanted to load it back up, and of course i said no.... and for the record.i have tightened lug nuts my whole life without a torque wrench.and this was the first time anything like this had ever happened.it was quite amazing. i am sure we looked like a pit crew going to town ......we got back to the house, i pulled it in the garage.right about that time, my wife(then GF) got home from work.she asked what was goin on, as we both slyly looked at each other sipping our beer, i said "nothin, how was your day?":)cheers, brian
  23. well, for the record.not a damn one of you has welded the diff, visc, coulper,ie ************ing tailshaft on these trans. yet , you all seem to want to add an opinion about it. did i ask for opinions?NO.i asked for experience welding the sum *************** up..... i don't want your thoughts on how i should accomplish it.i don't need advice.i'm gonna do it anyway.just wanted to have an intelligent convo with someone that HAS done it......... and gary, we posted the same time.no i do not need any extras at this point.thanks cheers, or not, brian
