Awe, this is great. Now I can get my account setu.......wait a minute. I already have an account there. -
WJM has seen another thing...EA82 information
Myxalplyx replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Late reply but I guess this will thwart any efforts at turbocharging my XT6. Then again, I only have to monitor closely the coolant temps. I would definitely put an EGT gauge on anything that is modified with a turbo. When going N/A to turbo, I would try to shoot for EGTs the same as running N/A. -
PIC Request: 1987 RX Coupe
Myxalplyx replied to The Korean's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice cars guys! Gawd, I miss mine dearly. Never got to turn up the boost on 'Scrappy'. Good luck finding a nice one! -
Not sure if this was posted already but if not, has anyone else seen this? http://xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5572

What a night..Project Cheap *Almost* gets stolen
Myxalplyx replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Glad no-one got hurt from this incident. Good thing the cops came when they did. You took a chance grabbing him but good thing everything went well. Glad the car wasn't stolen. Keep the dog happy! -
new engine in XT, won't start *SOLVED* Bad ECU
Myxalplyx replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
These two quotes are interesting. Does this mean that if you wanted to turbocharge your XT6, you could use an XT turbo or RX turbo ECU to do the dirty work instead of MSDS? -
Nissan 280ZX Turbo Injector Swap *DONE PROOF*
Myxalplyx replied to Steveman09's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Excellent info! Thanks for posting this. This was the only missing link I had to turning up the boost on my RX turbo. I now know what to do once I get another old school scooby. I can't wait! -
Your speedo had to be off.
-
I have had my RX turbo up to 130mph. This was while I was towing a Hummer with 3 people over 300lbs each and 400lbs of cement blocks in the hatch. Don't expect to go to fast in a stock RX. The power goes on vacation after 5600rpm.

how many of you actually race?
Myxalplyx replied to pheonix165's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I dragrace! ***Runs and cowers in the bushes*** Actually, I like bracket racing. Matter of fact, I'll be racing this Sunday at Englishtown Raceway. -
That car just looks TOO good. I call B.S.! Photoshop!!

$200? Nice find! I don't see much of any rust on it. That's a huge plus.

Power mods, how much power per mod
Myxalplyx replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am glad you mentioned this Gary as I was thinking of eventually totally removing my A/C system on my XT6. I thought the turning of the compressor will was parasitic loss. Guess not! Thanks! -
Congrats Will! You bastid.... You decided to wait until my RX took a dump before you posted this info. You KNEW I was going to go after the higher dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times....didn'tya? Good find though! My RX is at the dealership. I'm going to get the parts off of it (TWE stuff, intercooler & pulley) and eventually get another someday that somebody here has taken good care of. Hopefully it'll be the non-maf hindered model. Damn, this is such good news. Post some dyno or 1/4 mile results. This is great!

TMIC installed!!! Check it out!!!
Myxalplyx replied to wagon_basher's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have never had a problem with my BOV venting to the atmosphere. So include me as one of those 'freaks' without any problems. Nice clean looking intercooler setup BTW. Just as a note, be careful about the height of your intercooler's hood scoop. My motor vehicle almost didn't let my RX pass since they said the high could not be more than 3". My scoop was 3" on the nose and the guy kept measuring again with a ruler, even going as far as asking one of his superiors about it. It had something to do with it being over 3" in height, it would be in the driver's view. Every state may be different. -
My RXTurbo says Goodbye
Myxalplyx replied to Myxalplyx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I'm glad we didn't try that. Yeah, I made it home ok...Thanks to triple AAA. I've only had it one year and have towed my XT6s twice and now this. I kinda feel relieved that it is over. Now I can concentrate on the SVX I'll be getting next week. I was --><-- close to getting a new radiator, thermostat and water temp sensor for it. What am I to do with six cars (5 Subbies) anyway? That's a sickness! I don't know where I would've stopped but at least I'm down one now so..... I'm sure there'll be another (Older) 1.8ltr turbo somewhere around after scavenging the parts off of it. Thanks for the support! Some older person selling a prestine turbo brat right? I can dream! -
Hey, I had fun with my RX turbo. I just wanted to let some peeps know that it is now history. I drove it to Maryland this weekend and Gary Gross got my intercooler situated PERFECTLY under my hood scoop. Just before the ride home, we notice the rear wheels where 'caved in'. The top portion turned inward on both rear wheels while the bottom part of the wheels turned outward. Gary jacked up the car and we inspected underneath and didn't noticed anything unusual so I proceeded to try to drive the car home. It is a 2hr drive one way so about 1/2 hour into my drive home, I noticed a sound getting louder and louder from the rear. My rear tires were screaming from grinding and contacting from turning inward. Had 'Scrappy' towed to a dealership and they said there's nothing they can do with it. The frame rusted out so much that is simply gave way. I knew it was coming but dang. (*&^%$ I never got to turn up the boost to beat WJMs dyno numbers. So, I'll be parting it out after getting it towed back home at some point. The guy at the dealership even sounded sad and spoke as if I lost a loved one. Oh well! Scrappy treated me right and I never had a problem for the 1.2 years that I have owned it. It did nicely on the dyno for the few runs that I ran it. So here's my 40 ounce turned up for Scrappy. See yas!

Really hard starting when cold?? UPDATE
Myxalplyx replied to peskyjiggler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thank you for this post. My temp gauge on my dash has been getting worse and worse and now just stays completely cold. I'll be changing the temp sensors as well as the thermostat. My car has a LOT of trouble starting as well. After initial start-up and running for a while, no trouble restarting. My car has new spark plugs, wire, disty, even ground (earth ground wires) applied. So this has to be the next step. -
$250 For Piston Rings?!?!?!?!?!?!
Myxalplyx replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ThePartsBin.com lists this part for $106.04. It is not exactly cheap but cheaper than some of the prices listed above. -
Voltage starts low, then OK
Myxalplyx replied to oldude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do that 'grounding mod' if you can. I have 8 gauge grounding wire going from my negative battery terminal to my maf sensor housing, a bolt on the engine, a bolt on the tranny and a bolt on the car frame near the driver's side struts. Also, I have an 8 gauge wire going from my positive battery terminal to the positive terminal of my alternator. It clears up electrical gremlins that may be due to the old age of some electrical wiring. I do this on all my subbies. It cleared up a hesitation and voltage problem I had on my 1997 Outback Sport, cleared startup/idle hesitation problem on my AWD XT6 and a small idle problem after cams installation on my FWD XT6. Weird but it works! My RX turbo already had it setup similar to this when I purchased it which may explain why I haven't had any drivability problems with it for a year. -
justy wheels, bolt and back spacing?

Ditto! But something of mine has to go first. -
Let's Talk Brat Power....
Myxalplyx replied to TurboXT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If by some stroke of luck you find a turbocharged brat of the same year, you can put your parts on it or transfer the parts from it to your car. -
Aftermarket fuel pump and FPR for EA82T?
Myxalplyx replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I still don't understand the fuel pump problem Gary. It is easy for me to say since I did not install it. I don't have problem bringing my car down your way so maybe we both can compare the pumps and see the like/differences and determine why it works on mine and not on yours. I'm sure it probably something simple that is overlooked. As for fuel pressure regulators, I have one from Ebay I had installed on the RX turbo. Here is my dyno result from playing with the Ebay RRFPR (Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator). http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31047&highlight=ebay+fpr -
A/F Mixture changes when head lights on
Myxalplyx replied to Marck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know what you mean. You can use your gauge to good affect though. With turbocharged cars running in the richer a/f ratio range than N/A cars (especially with modifications done the the turbocharged car), then the inaccuracies start to show its ugly face. Nice to see you even have one in the first place. I need one myself but I'm still stuck on the Jumptronix digital models. I would get an EGT gauge before getting an a/f ratio gauge though. -
Another quick TD04 turbo upgrade question.....
Myxalplyx replied to Tcat55371's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have not been able to explain this and I agree with you wholeheartedly however I have a BOV that vents to the atmosphere without any problems whatsoever. It makes no sense to me but I thought I'd test it and the car runs great like this. Boost is at stock pressure. RallyRuss, I know you said 'Bypass Valve' so I'm not sure if that and the BOV is one in the same. At any rate, here is my BOV setup that I just took a pic of for this post. I ended up venting to the atmosphere because I didn't have any room to add a hose to make it vent to the intake. The turbo to intercooler tubing is very close to the BOV. Also, I didn't want to go through the hassle of making another fitting past the maf sensor. I am lazy and unskilled. And yes, that intercooler price seems almost too good to be true.
