Gotta check this out....
Vicky, You were banned for 7 days as a reminder that you can't make personal attacks toward another board member, including moderators. It has nothing to do with the signatures. You have the same moderator powers here(USWMB) as any of the members of USMB's moderator team have over there(USMB). On USWMB you have the right to delete any comment, including this one, if you find it offensive. You have made yourself clear in this thread that you are going to delete any devil comments anyone makes which is no different than my team saying we are going to ask all users that have a religious comment as a signature to revise them or we would do it for them. No? I live by the golden rule. For a very long time, including now, I have used ChefTim as a guide for "would this offend Tim and his family and if so it’s probably going to fall into the category of "not family friendly"” so we shouldn’t allow it. I’m a little disappointed now. Lastly, I, with help from people that you are now slamming for carrying out a decision made by a team of 14 moderators, run one of the cleanest message boards around. Look around and I think you will find a lot more foul language, pictures of women draped over vehicles at car shows, etc on other car forums. I think you need to re-evaluate what is important and pick your battles. Your husband resigned as a moderator. As a result of some of the battles he had with another couple moderators I lost 2 other moderators in a very short time because of battles between him and the other moderators. I appointed new volunteers (lets not forget all of us are) that were experts in their forum focus and that’s all I can do. Since becoming a moderator and honestly even before he was a moderator, Eric Zap has been a really stand up guy and labeling him as “nasty” and a bad parent because he put horns on a photo of his child is rude. There are plenty of creatures on the planet that have horns and it is Eric’s right to make that photo. It is your interpretation that is offending you and he did that to make a point without a doubt but his point is well made. The last straw for Tim before he resigned as I recall was a picture of a users car with a woman in a bikini standing next to it. The point of the picture wasn't "hey check out the ____ on that woman", it was the thought that a car show girl would stand in front of a car almost exactly like yours, AKA "DRTYGRL". It wasn't shiny, it wasn’t expensive, it wasn’t fast...it was an old Subaru wagon. My point is sometimes interpretation and being able to look at a photo or problem from more than one angle is an important part of being a moderator. You were quick to label the photo as “offensive to children” but if you think a woman walking around in a bikini is offensive to children and that people shouldn’t take their kids to the beach, pool, lake, etc…well I think you get the point. All the same, the post was deleted and no longer exists because you complained about it and we try to keep everybody happy but are now realizing that it just isn’t always going to happen. Thank you in advance for not deleting this post and for allowing people to read my views on this matter. I hope that you will take the 7 days to step back from the situation, take a break and think about what is really important and that USMB staff isn’t out to get you. Thanks, Shawn Watson USMB Administrator

More Lights! wohoo! (EVEN MORE!! + Pics)
Love the jedi light. Having 4 jedi's on the front of your car would really help in traffic.

lifted Turbos please check in
Mine WAS a turbo and I liked the downpipe for sure. Its going to be an ej22 beast though now. Better power than the ea81 turbo but more important to me was the premium fuel cost savings.

2.2 engine knock?? lifter? question
ShawnW replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLong screwdriver stethescope trick time. Isolate the sound to a side, cyl, or part of the block. Does this one have the adjustable valve lifters? Some people dont believe me but there are some that do.

wierd alignment prob with lift and big tires on 86 Brat
Is it possible one of the Toyota wheels you got has a different rim width than the others? We have seen Peugeot wheels that are 5, 5.5 and 6" wide diameter but look like the same stamping before is why I ask.

Found The Clunk!!!!!!!UPDATE..
You can adjust the backlash but its not for the novice but at this point if you are willing to try it and know that you may trash the front diff by trying it, send me a PM. I don't want to publish instructions on how to do this you could do SERIOUS damage and I dont want to be responsible for destroyed transmissions.

My conversion on the web
When you surf USMB theres always a grey bar that runs horizantally across the screen near the top of the page. It starts with USER CP and on the 2nd line the last one is :photo gallery". Click that, and theres an upload photos link/button that you can access. As far as a tutorial, general subaru knowledge on the EJ22 is best found by going to the forum titled Newer Generation of Subaru's and doing a search in there. You can also look in what we call our "Ultimate Subaru Repair Manual" which is found by clicking message board and then going near the bottom to that forum group. Thats kindof a FAQ of sorts, the summary articles written by users on topics that are Frequently needed. Currently there isnt an article that discusses the general parts of the ej22 engine but a good start may be to purchase the Haynes Subaru Legacy service manual. Available at alot of parts stores around the country. If you are good with a photo editor and would be so kind as to take the photos and number all the parts you want to know about I will tell you what they are. Here is a picture of my engine in my air cooled vanagon, about to go in my newer vanagon after much struggle with making a cooling system work on the 81. If you want to use this photo let me know. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/data/500/2vanagon00091.JPG

My conversion on the web
Exactly why I have created this area. Couldn't agree more on the awesome resources over there. We have a photo upload area as part of joining USMB as well if anybody is wondering about losing that functionality. You have the same color vanagon as my new one!

Lifted hatch population grows in Colorado!
Was really nice to see that car lifted. It was just screaming lift me with all the extra touches you have added to it. Mad props to the car for putting up with all our cursing. Ill be @ the meet 4 sure but if I had my way it would be in the new "soobie". Deadline is a little unrealistic but well see. Thats what I get for having 2 car projects @ once.

ShawnW replied to tominredbank's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe nut on the valve adjuster loosened up over time. It happens.

valve tap?
ShawnW replied to tominredbank's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThere is a valve adjustment that can be done and its not terrible to do in the car. I am surprised they arent trying to sell you something when you suggest it.

Time to start my project
Thats an awesome looking Vanagon! Today I pulled my ej22 out of my 81 Vanagon and am getting it ready to go into an 84 Vanagon. These sure are simple to pull out!

My son's re-creation of the MW2 Subaru Meet
is that a little light blue brat at the head of the pack being drug thru the mud by a Ford?
-
Let's Talk Brat Power....
Well said. Although... I really like the gutless wonder that is the ea81. I suspect you have a plugged exhaust or havent troubleshooted the engine enough. Search for a post with instructions I did for somebody else on how to setup a vac gauge on the engine to detect plugged exhaust. Did you pass smog when you tried? What is your timing set at?

My Subaru Took Up Smoking...
ShawnW replied to RuBiCaNT's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThis sounds like a loose clamp or a coil clamp that pinched too hard on the metal band. Youre probably right about the AT cooler line being the culprit.

"ECS" light ? what does it mean?
Its your check engine light, means a code can be retrieved by looking at the side of the ECU which is mounted to the bottom of the steering column under the dash.

ea-81 subaru sucks, take a look!
I have a carb and manifold with a carbie that looks rebuilt. I would sell it for $75 and I will be in the springs pretty soon I think to deliver something anyway. Photo available. My money would be the carburator base plate is warped.

Wire wheels - anyone actually ever see them?
I saw one in a junkyard in Chicago over 5 years ago. It had a nasty wheel lock on it that nobody could budge and was a pull a part so I had to leave it.

Vanagon Update
If youre curious about what I am doing with my vanagon..... Im parting it out. Doing an air cooled conversion is truly rediculous but I pulled it off and it lasted 2 days and then failed just in time for it to not go to WCSS7. Good news is, I found a really clean low mileage (22k) water cooled 84 Vanagon to put the parts into. Should be a quick and easy swap. Ill post updates starting next week when the new vanagon gets towed in for the conversion. The VW engine threw a rod. If any of you want VW vanagon cyl heads or ECU let me know they will be available shortly. Also, If you know somebody that needs Westy parts please spread the word. I will have an entire kitchen kit left over.
