  1. I suspect they removed the wrong drain plug. Previous incidents show that they have drained the front differential oil and put none back in there but instead put oil into the engine. The only way to know for sure is to drain the oil and measure the amount of oil in the catch pan. When its 7 quarts or more take it to firestone and demand new oil and a refund on the previous service. (thats what I would do at least). They have contaminated the new oil by mixing it with the old and now you dont have any clean oil and thats what you paid to have changed. Driving a car that is overfilled is twice as hard on an engine as driving it with a quart low. If you have a Subaru dealer in the area use them instead. They use an OEM filter, drain plug crush ring, and oil that is appropriate for the car. They also know where the drain plug is. Good luck!
  2. Cool! Glad to see you on here. Warning, our board is addictive.
  3. Did u say new intercooler or used intercooler? I ask because if its used it might have come off somebody elses car that had a leaking turbo, oil goes in intercooler, doesnt come out until its run again....
  4. I did a search and found these 3 threads of relevance: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/usmb/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6721&highlight=30000
  5. Can you hear the idle change or are you seeing it in the form of TACH jumping?
  6. On that site if you click on the links it shows a picture of the kits included items.
  7. Used struts are really a crap shoot and new ones tend to be really expensive. If you have a good running XT6 for under $2000 you have done REALLY well. Search for Fix A Flat posts too. People have bought a little time putting fix a flat into the airbags in the struts.
  8. Man I love that photos site more every day! You made quick time of getting the pics up! Looks promising hope it goes easily!
  9. Brian I set him up a photos acct....I want to see pics too!
  10. This sounds like something I would go to as long as it doesnt conflict with another Subaru show.
  11. ECU is mounted to the bottom of the steering column if you have one. Take the colored 6" x 15" piece of trim that is right above your shins off and if theres a box with an LED you have an ECU. Another giveaway to having an ECU is an O2 sensor but I have seen people put a junkyard exhaust system on from a car with an 02 onto a car without need for one.
  12. The concensus when I blew a belt due to a seized PS pump was that it is interchangable. This was on an 84 Turbo Brat (ea81).
  13. Are you going to make them? Any idea on cost?
  14. A Subaru on the rag runs better than a Honda.
  15. Wow that sounds like a great upgrade. Think it could be done to an older Subaru too? (like are the things you put on the mirrors pretty universal in size?)
  16. Oil leaks from the rear of the engine, or by the bellhousing are typical for the early to mid legacies. The 2.2L engine is AWESOME reliability wise. If its an AUTO regular trans fluid changes. Stick check for a worn clutch. AWD-check for tires that are worn evenly. Lots of receipts would make me happy but I haven't found a car lot yet that kept the cars receipts from the previous owner.
  17. the ones that hang from the car?
  18. I don't think the oil is the culprit. 10W30 hasn't caused me any problems in the cold up here. Time to bite the bullet and pop the hood. Engine block heater on this?
  19. Id avoid the stop leak if you can. If you can see the crack try a tube weld or take the radiator to a shop to have it repaired. Junkyard radiators are a crap shoot but would be better than getting stop leak in the engine. There is a guy parting out an outback on here right now, might check with him on its radiator being any good. Shawn

  21. Do your wheels rust behind the rings? I hated that even more. I just gave up and got alloy wheels.
  22. Check ebay theres one on there for $100 that claims to have 500 miles on it when pulled.
  23. Not lazy thats smart and yes you can do it that way.
