  1. I've had two cherry bombs on EA82s. They sounded like crap. Just like they sound on most every other engine I've seen them mated to. The Thrush ones sound better. Also Thunderbolt glasspacks are good. However they are a bit more expensive than the $15 Cherry Bombs.
  2. You must have specific verbal or written consent to be on private property. Lack of a sign or warning isnt an invitation or consent. If you don't own the land in question then sombody else does. Land owners do not have to put up a sign but you have to still have permission to be on their land. Even public land has rules to follow for access. It is our recsponsibility to know the rules and abide by them. Playing by the rules is key to sustaining access for OHVs on public land. It's already been determind in court that ignorance isnt an excuse; so yes its still illegal. I know you'll do the right thing
  3. Nice work Kurt. We'll get a MN get together planned before the snow falls!
  4. I think they sound like crap on just about everything. They are cheap at $15 though. A worthy trade off to be sure.
  5. This is only in reference to the rubber fuel lines. The hard lines are fine. Simply replace all the rubber lines with EFI rated lines.
  6. Don't forget custom body adjustments by BFH Mother Nature oens are more fun though
  7. I'd shoot a bit of WD 40 into the combustion chambers. Roll it over by hand. Also prime the oil pump up just before you fire the engine. You can unplug the dizzy or coil or something to prevent it from starting and spin it with the starter a few times. Just till you see the oil PSI needle bounce. After that I'd say its go time! Fire it up, let it smoke for a couple hours, and put some miles on it
  8. Good call Gary; I'd go with the servicable ones if I was replacing them.
  9. http://www.off-road.com/race/2004score/baja1000/scoreafactsheet.html Scroll down to Classes. Subaru could fit into a couple from what I see. Oldschool Subarus would be Class 1/2 1600cc. Class 3 sounds pretty wide open. Maybe a Class 1 if you took out the back seats? With 31 different classes there's gotta be room for a Subaru 4WD in there.
  10. Yes I posted it in several locations. I'll link it here also: http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/usmb/spfi_conversion_manual.pdf
  11. And from what I've talked to John about; it's not a direct bolt in either. There is modifications required to make it fit.
  12. More than I expected; nicely done!
  13. It's hard getting much done with the new baby. I havent even been out in the garage since last weekend I'll follow up after I get out there again; maybe this weekend....
  14. From what I understand they are non-servicable U joints. So they can be replaced but not repaired. Prolly just as expensive to buy a whole driveshaft from the junkyard.
  15. Take it to a driveshaft / transmission shop. Tell them how long you want it, which joints you want at what end, and throw down a couple hudnred dollars. Or you can make some L brackets. Weld them into the unibody. Bolt the center carrier bearing housing to the L brackets.
  16. http://www.ausubaru.com/ausubaru/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3495&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 Brumbyrunner did. I don't know if its a real RTI ramp but he did use a ramp to guage how much he gained from his custom suspension. I have access to an RTI ramp at a local Offroad shop. Just havent been down there yet to check it out. I also couldnt compare to stock; unless maybe Arch came down with his black wagon. RTI score would be pathetic to say the least. This is mostly due to how it's scored. You stop going up the ramp just before your rear tire comes off t he ground... well thats not when I stop when I'm offroad! Lifting one or two tires is simply a way of life offroading a Subaru.
  17. Sponsorship isn't that hard. I bet you could get lots of sponsors. As long as you have a realistic plan that you can convey to businesses they will sponsor you. Are you going to get BFGoodrich to give you 2 sets of tires? Naw; but you could get significant amounts of cash to put twoard the vehicle. The bigger the decal they want on your vehicle the more money they pay!
  18. Easy there big guy! Maybe start with the Baja 250... if you actually finish them bump upto the 500 or 1000 What class would a Subaru be in the SCORE Baja races? As far as cooling you could run a 3 core radiator and a big oil cooler; both with thermostats of course. Hood louvers and scoops or a big cowl induction scoop.
  19. Oil pan is way more vulernable than a diff. The pros run low to the ground. Skid plates are key
  20. What exactly broke? The rail? Where the rail bolts down? The chair itslef where it interfaces the rail?
  21. Yep! Front left bolt capture nut rusted away. I was driving along then BAM I'm all ghetto fabulouse, leaning way back trying to hold onto the steering wheel! I just welded the damn thing down :-p
  22. Pretty sure body shops use a special little tool for this. Gets behind the trim and you use it to pop out the plastic rivits holding it to the body.
  23. This is some chazmataz articulation I think!
