  1. Just be sure to keep the oil full In the mean time maybe someone could do a compression test and leak down test for you? Might give you some insight before you even buy any parts. Good luck.
  2. Does it smell like fuel vapor? Or vaporized oil?
  3. ... as in a lack of Subarus dont flex; they dance!
  4. I can host it if you'd like. Just email it to me.
  5. The calipers should be salvagable; rotors you might need to buy. I got mine off the champiegn colored GL10 turbo wagon there; pretty rusty but cleaned up nice and had 'new' pads Gotta haggle those guys. They try to stick you with high prices but you just counter offer. Then the games begin! Just ask Arch... I watched him talk them down from $200 for a part to I think $25. They seriously said $200 for an intake manifold off an MPFI EA82... we both laughed out loud!
  6. Forester Ranger: Might I ask what you have paid for lifting your Forester 4"? That might put into perspective the prices listed in this thread.
  7. So its not leaking externally onto the outside of the cat; but rather shooting oil out the exhuast and vaporizing it on the hot exhaust parts?
  8. I'm all over it sir! Actually if you got the parts we could swap them perdy darn quick.
  9. Drop the Y pipe / cat and take a look. Could be a number of places back under there...
  10. I agree; it could have been handled better. I simply didnt want to see the messanger get shot Internic is the one publishing everyone's information to the internet. Maybe someone should tell John that his info is posted for all the world to see in Internic's database of registerd domain names. He might not be aware that this is even happening.
  11. I didnt say it was completly pointless. I said it works fine with out it on my SPFI. Do I get worse milage? Yes. Does it still run fine? Yes. Do I care? No. I lost more than 5MPG with big tires; I don't drive my Subaru because it gets awsome milage.
  12. That information is published to the internet by Internic. He was mearly relaying it. Anyone can go do a whois lookup and find out this infromation. http://www.internic.com/whois.html
  13. Excellent idea; all the info can be had here on the forums. I think you can do it yourself and have great results.
  14. It's not that bad either. O2 sensor on the SPFI isnt that important of a component.
  15. It's coo; mine still rub :-p
  16. No, he's not actually. When you dig down through that snow what's at the bottom? Ice 90% of the time..... big lugs dont move you on ice, lots of sipes do. All the ppl I know up here that run MTs year round have siped the crap out of them to make them more safe.
  17. All the cool kids are doing rear disc swaps!
  18. $8 at local junkyard for MAF. Not running an O2 sensor. Vapor Can should be fine; what indicates it's failing?
  19. This thread on AUSubaru.com BYB forums might shed some light on 4.44 gears. http://www.ausubaru.com/ausubaru/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4128&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=141d4f4b8a9925cc8bc76334c25d4e04
  20. Sounded like a long night and a rough weekend.
  21. How the Forester should have came! Dual range, LSD front/rear, 4" lift, and full skid plates. Can't wait to see pics of it on some sick trails. Just remember, chix dig body damage!
  22. I totally agree. Wheels on the ground is the key. I'm still confused as to what is beeing kept score of
  23. One up for what... making a drop plate to the rear diff?
  24. Above half is too warm. It should be at half or slightly below. Wish they were more exact
  25. Sounds good; I'll slap it together with no grease then. Got the other knuckle stripped down and repacked with new bearings Now I just need to remove and strip down the other knuckle, swap over the caliper and hub, then bolt it all back together. Still debating on doing bearings on the other side now since the one side has new ones.... :-\
