  1. Greetings, Issue number one of Subiesport Magazine is getting wrapped up to send to press, and it's already time to start thinking about issue number two! This is your chance to submit ideas for stories you'd like to see. Be as specific or as general as you like. We're assigning stories to our contributors and editors in the next week. However, since we get hundreds (literally) of emails every day, we don't want good ideas lost in the email shuffle. We've therefore set up a forum at our sister-site to open the discussion about Subiesport in a more structured environment. There are two ways to get to the forum. It's linked from both the front of Subiesport.com (bottom right) as well as Drivingsports.com (top menu). You can connect directly by clicking here: <http://ww2.drivingsports.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3> http://ww2.drivingsports.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3 Cheers, Ryan Douthit, Publisher Subiesport Magazine <http://www.subiesport.com/> http://www.subiesport.com *this email is being sent to members that signed up at <http://www.subiesport.com/> http://www.subiesport.com. If you would like to stop receiving these updates, reply to the message with 'Remove' in the subject line.
  2. I was supprised how hard that EJ22 could pull if I put the 4EAT in Manual mode and let her wind up before shifting. Wish I had one with a 5MT!
  3. It can be done. You can put whatever rear end you want in there. The real question is how much time and money do you have? :-p
  4. http://users.alphadimensions.net/~dane/whatever.mp3 Funny song about a crazy guy's Subaru. Pretty work safe but if you are in an office like me turn down your speakers; it came on pretty loud for me! Found this link on the AUSubaru.com forums.
  5. What are you putting this pump into? I'm a little confused... I thought it was a Brat but its EFI? I had to use a coupler for that Ford fuel pump. The hose coming from the tank to the pump is larger than the hoses from the pump to the engine or from the engine back to the tank. I took a fitting used for air tools and some hose clamps. Slipped the big hose over the bigger end of the metal fitting, slipped a smaller fuel hose from the fitting (coupler) to the pump and clamped them all down tight. So far no leaks and it works fine. I've put lots of miles and offroaded it like this. This is all on an '88 GL wagon, EA82 SPFI. A "new" pump was $255! Couldnt find any used ones I paid $70 for #2p74028 Looks like I should have bought it off the website!
  6. When out on the trails you often need to lean out and look at the line you are trying to stay on With a half door you can really lean out and see under where your tires are and how to best hit the obsitcle. I saw on TWB Fabrication's site he said half doors soon to come. That would be pretty spiffy; get crack'n TWB! One of these days I'll just grab some from the junkyard and take my grinder with a cut off wheel to them
  7. Page by page? Man you got way too much time on your hand! Go to the Members section. In the upper right corner is 'Search Members'. Then click on Advanced. Under the 'City' data field put in Boise and hit submit! I saw quite a few that came up. Hate to see you go man Not working out over there in WI ?
  8. Okay the park has changed. The MN 4WD Association needs our help at White Face River state forest. Apparently there are some good trails there that start on county forest land and intersect the state forest land. Closing the state forest to ALL ORVs like they plan to would mean the trails still open on county forest land would be useless! You'd get down the trail and just have to turn around once you hit state forest land. If you even knew when you crossed that line. I'll edit the other poses to reflect these latest changes. I'll get new maps and stuff posted here very soon. Also I'll find some camping and stuff near by to assist us.

    Lift Kit ?'s

That was the first thing I noticed when I got big tires on and went to get in.... I dont have to sit DOWN! I just slide right in!

    Lift Kit ?'s

Yeah I did 4WD conversion at the same time I lifted my EA82 wagon. No sense doing it all twice
  11. Nab yourself a cheap fuel pressure guage. They come in a little kit. Pretty cheap as far as these kinds of tools go.
  12. I hear you; its not a short drive by any stretch of the imagination. There's always the midwest subaru meet!

    Lift Kit ?'s

    Say it dont spray it!
  14. Talk about bang for your buck! Wire harnes and ECU included on those deals? I know dudes on the http://www.ausubaru.com boards would be able to help with information on the swap.
  15. Who knows, get under there and find out
  16. HEY SKIP CHILL OUT IRL Am I the only one that remembers that little test between Subaru Outback and Volvo CrossCountry? Remember they saw the Outback AWD work pulling a trailer up a muddy hill and then the Volvo just spun its front tires and never kicked in AWD? Subaru AWD works and if you want to offroad a Subaru get one with 4WD Lo range!
  17. Make sure your driveshaft is tight against the diff Do lots of offroading? Something might have made its way into the diff carrier When did you last change gear oil back there? Might do that just to see if anything was in there and to get new gear oil in there.
  18. Were sent the wrong cams or they were installed opposite of one another is my guess.
  19. Pop your hood. Look down at your engine. On the block in the middle twoards the front on top you can see a stamp that says EA81 or EA82 or whatever it is Junkyards are great. I have MANY MANY junkyard upgrades on my EA82 wagon! Rage them boneyards!
  20. TORXX: is your friends Subaru an EA81 or EA82? That's awsome tho! What size exactly are they? 27 or 28? SubaSKEET: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html That's a tire calculator. Should help you out a lot.
  21. I can hold 75 MPH with 29" tires If my speedo worked I'd find out how fast it would go! LOL If all '80s are 1600's then parts shouldnt be TOO hard to get eh? How is availability at parts stores?
  22. Can be done? Yes. From what I've read of others doing a conversion on an older wagon like your's it's a lot more work than the conversion I describe. Hopefully those people will step forward and describe this in more detail. I'd almost look at a 1800 swap at the same time The 1800's are slow as dirt as it is... could not imagine a 1600!
  23. Don't forget to change your filters after its all over!
  24. Next time straddel the rut instead; I think you'll make it farther up the hill then! Picking a line and a little momentum is just as important in a situation like this as having AWD.
