  1. With a 3" lift you can clear all the room you need for that size. Those would be some fun tires!
  2. Unscore Should have drove it home that day you found it or chain towed it home!
  3. Wheel balance really does help. I've had several vehicles have funny vibrations souly from wheel balance. My GL wagon when mud gets up in the rims; throws off teh balance and I can totaly tell. Gotta get them semi cleaned out before I hit the highway. My wife's Buick threw off the weights on one wheel; man it was terrible! Went through it on my Legacy too.
  4. Off the top of my head AdamnNJ had bobbed his Brat. I'm not really worried about it tho. My wagon rear end doesnt stick past the rear axles any further than say a Toyota 22R pickup Once youre lifted, big tires, and custom bumpers are snugged upto the body the departure angles are greatly increased.
  5. Anything is possible How big do you wanna go with tires tho? 30"s fit on fine with a BYB 3" lift. Brushbasher just put on 31"s with a custom 6" lift. I like your thinking tho... big tires rule
  6. I picked up a $20 one that is magnetic and goes onto your oil pan. Keeps the oil and oil pan hot and lets heat radiate upward into the rest of the engine. You can also get one s that go where your dipstick goes or ones that replace your frost plugs. Those would prolly be more preprietary to a year/make/model (well atelast the frost plug ones) so I havent really looked into those.
  7. What more do you want? A 10,000 decible alarm that sounds when it goes over half on the temp guage? It's not the cars fault you didnt stop in time or that you overheated it again knowing it had a problem. A guage is 1000000000 times better than an idiot light. When an idiot light comes on its TOO LATE. A guage is there so you can pay attention to your car and catch a problem before its too late. Still under warrenty? Time to talk to the stealership. Not under warrenty? Time to decide how much the car is worth to you.... new heads and new head gaskets or sell it and get something else?
  8. You could run those tires with just a BYB 3" lift from Ozified. http://www.ozified.com/
  9. I seriously doubt that 1.3 puts out the power an EFI 1.8 puts out. The key words there are 'think' and 'almost as much' when comparing. How about some real numbers?
  10. Score! So how much you want for that XT6 alternator?
  11. One guy (from the Hatch Patrol right?) ran spar rims and mounted regular tires on them. This was a rare sight becuase he had the tools to mount and seat the tire himself. You will not find a shop that will do this for you as there is a risk involved. Unless you have access to a tire mount / seating machine I wouldnt worry any more about it.
  12. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=27509 Lots of relivant info in that search link. Feel free to ask more questions after reading through those therads.
  13. SeaFoam! 1/3 can in the tank, 1/3 can in the crank case, and save the last 1/3 for later
  14. Yeah funny how same sized tires are different between make/models. PICS PICS PICS I like pics of big tires on subarus
  15. How much room would you say there was with NO lift and 27"s ? Think you could have cut and beat enough stuff out of the way for 28"? 29"? I think 29"s would fit but I hate to assume too much; I never fit them on with out a lift.
  16. How's the clearance width wise with the 3.5" backspacing and 10.5" wide tires. Space betten the tire and strut is... ?
  17. Just noticed you are not in the US I have High/Low range on my '88 GL wagon. Seperate selector lever for the dual range. You can switch it while moving but not very fast. I only do it in 1st gear really. Clutch in and shift into high or low. If you had to come to a complete stop to do it the manual would warn your to do so. I wouldnt worry about it. Just dont do it while going over 25mph and you'll be fine
  18. They look pissed pointing forward! Hope no oil blows by tho; tough getting that off the windsheild With the 31"s on please post ground clearance to skid plate and rear diff. Can't wait to see it with 31"s on! How wide are they? Also how much clearing you had to do with making 31"s fit for turning? About 3" of backspacing on those Toyota rims right?
  19. 27"x8.5" no lift 29" or 30" x 9.5" lifted Also condition of your struts and springs can have an impact. I had to swap out my rear strut assemblies with newer ones. Too much sag from being over loaded and never replaced after 180,000 miles.
  20. Good to see her moving under her own power! Those straight pipes are just temporary right? I had pipes like that... no torque at all!
  21. The amount of time, money and work into making a 1.3 turbo ya might as well swap in something bigger and have more power to start with
  22. exactly what I wanted to hear! Once you get the stupid plastic fender splash guards all out of the way there is a lot of room for height. Youll have to fold over that large seam in the unibody. Can also keep going and just pound in that fender well (leave some room for your feet!) Then roll the corners of your outer fenders so you can turn. You can also just cut the fenders in half like I did. Lots of room in the rear. Might have to cut a little out of the front corner of the fender there. Width is the biggest limiter. With my 15" pug steel rims I could only go 9.5" wide before I ran out of width. What happens is the tire will rub on the strut spring / strut spring seat. Going with rims that have less backspacing would aliviate this problem and allow wider tires. Sizes? 27"s are definatly within range if you clear enough room. There are a couple of concerns going too big. One is clearing that strut spring and seat width wise. In the rear you can only go so far before the tire will rub on your rear main crossmember. Upfront you can only bash that fender well in so far but that's pretty darn far. Why no lift kit? With a BYB 3" lift you could be running 30"s
  23. How much clearing, trimming, bashing and cutting are you willing to do?
  24. Call up a dealership, ask for Service department and make a tech look it up for ya!
