I did it! Pics to prove it!

I belive it was for gearing purposes. I'll let him detail the reasoning however -
Wanna know why I named my new hatch "Ozy"?
MorganM replied to ezapar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hah that's trick -
Glad to hear it! I know you were getting pretty discouraged with the whole thing after the brakes went south on you. Those rear discs are awsome! Time for a BYB 4/3" lift kit right??

Got her dirty! If I'm not mistaken those are images taken from a video clip? Can you post the video? -
On my EA82 I pounded it flat and kept going. You can actually pound it into the unibody more so its not sticking out at all. Because even with it folded over it's going to stick out a half inch. Once its folded over keep hammering !_!

Time for a junkyard upgrade! Maybe it was the EA81s that had the blue air cleaners?
-
Tell them to pop the hood and LOOK! SPFI will have a big rubber snorkel coming from an airbox + MAF on the passangers side upto the throttle body. Carb will have a big metal blue air cleaner right on top. If you could get the VIN you could call a dealership and they would know.

Spare Parts for Roadtrip & Trail Ride'n ?
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Got a full size spare... still need to drill out the bolt pattern to match my 4x140mm. Plenty of water and antrifreeze is packed. Got a come-along some while ago... have yet to use it thankfully! Just bought a snatch strap this weekend. Definatly need some axles tho! -
Taking suggestions on key parts for a 4 hour drive and 2 days of trail riding. So far I have not broke anything on the trail so I really dunno what breaks the most. Right now I carry around timing belts, hoses, and coil. I'll be getting a spare front and rear axle before I go also.... anything else? Dist.? Can of Fix A Flat or a plug reamer+tire plugs?
-
LOL not big enough! So far I just have spare timing belts, hoses, coil and recovery gear. I'd like to get a spare front and rear axle. What else would you suggest? I can hit up a junkyard before FRI.

Another hard night's work and the rear bumper is done. Clevists are bolted on and ready to go! It's all down hill from here. Just need little things like fire extinguisher, first aid kit, etc etc.

Archemitis and I chopped up and welded a front bumper together. Hopefully I'll get the rear one done tomarrow Getting late here tho... off to dream of offroading !_!

adjusting clutch 91' loyale
MorganM replied to mountainbikeak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
now THAT'S easy -
Sumit will do custom rims. Might find some manufacture that can sell 'blanks' that have no bolt pattern drilled. Then you could just drill them out yourself. There are also 'blank' centers from farm suppliers. Cut out a center of a rim, drill desired patern in blank center, weld in the blank and you now have custom rims. I've looked into this a little bit over the web. That's about all I've found. Didn't dig too deep cuz it seemed like just as much work as redrilling hubs to 6x5.5", converting to XT6 5lug, or redrilling 6x5.5" rims to 4x5.5". 5.5" is pretty darn close to 140mm... isnt it 139.7mm ?

adjusting clutch 91' loyale
MorganM replied to mountainbikeak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The cable where it hooks onto your throw out fork is double nuted. Just loosen the outside nut a little then you can freely adjust the inside nut tighter. Then tighten up the outside nut upto the inside nut to secure them again. By outside nut I mean the one on the end of the cable. The inside nut is between the outside nut and the throw out fork. You might need a vice gribs to hold the cable from spinning while trying to bust that outside nut loose the first time. If you pull back that little boot covering most of the end of the cable you will see a nice metal section to clamp onto with out messing up the cable itself. Besure to slip that boot back when done. This might get you by for a while but either your cable has stretched (unlikely) or the clutch is on its way out. Can you slip the clutch while its fully enguaged by flooring the gas pedal after a shift? Does it slip if you floor it going up a hill after its fully enguaged? Those are good signs of a worn clutch... or rather a bad signs -
I riced out my car.... (warning, 56K)

What? No double deck unpained rear spoiler? No 6" ID "turbo" muffler? Less than 10 stickers? No japaneese characters? No painted rear drums? No hood painted black for that carbon fiber 'look and feel" ? I see no rice in those images. Thats one smooth XT! -
!!ONE WEEK!! Those maps are cool. I love maps; I guess it's just the hobbit in me :-p Wish I could have zoomed in just a LITTLE more and saw the actual trails.

Rear Calipers STUCK Clamped; Won't Release!
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I had some time tonight so me and my son jacked it up, took off the wheels and started looking for the problem. Found it pretty quickly. Typical; it was just something stupid I had forgot to do.... washers are key Now onto my custom bumpers and I'm ready to go to the Castana Offroad Event !_! -
Yep good call. Registration often has to be paid right away. That can be hundreds of dollars depending on where you live. I was also 'required' to have full coverage insurance which is considerably mroe expensive than just liability. Also taxes have to be paid at the time of purchase I belive. I did a 'no money down' deal on my KIA. Still paid almost $600 up front for registration and tax. Be preparied to whip out the check book
