Sounds like some funny stuff is going on there. I thought the BYB 4" lift was reallly a 3"front/4"rear ... maybe some blocks got swaped? I would get in touch with PKDavis. He will help you out for sure on exactly what you need

Rear disc conversion: proportioning?
MorganM replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
EA82's do have a porportioning valve. It's in the rear of the vehicle, tucked up by the rear main crossmember on a bracket bolted to the unibody. That is all the 'concrete' evendince I can provide on it -
I think I have had it with....
MorganM replied to iluvdrt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ya I got sick of it too. Thats when I went and bought a new car with a warrenty. Then I made my Subaru a toy. I dont care if it sits for a while or if I break something. No need to baby it anymore cuz it's gotta get you from A to B or else! I feel free to floor it and do not worry about denting the crap out of it offroading It's also great having a new car I can both afford and not worry about breaking. -
Rear brakes conversion question..What parts can
MorganM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Damn the backing plate is different also? Is it the bore of the main hole that makes it sit on the control arm? Whats different? -
I know! I still need to get a windshield in, need 2 bolts for my rear calipers, and run a little hard brake line to finish my disc brake conversion. I'm calling the insurance company today to see about getting a windshield this week. I MIGHT call in sick this friday and go to that junkyard over by Joe. There I can get the 2 bolts I need and hopefully a rear diff! If I got a rear diff I could get it welded and hopefully installed before the 25th. I'll get the windshield and rear discs done for sure tho just so I know it's road worthy. Welded diff would just be extra cool

Rear brakes conversion question..What parts can
MorganM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I spose the backing plate, cailipers, pads, hardware would all swap. Isnt the problem just that the hubs/outer stubs have different spline counts between 2WD and 4WD? -
Yep I saw these guys in a 4Wheel magazine. Cheapest prices I've found. Still out of my budget tho!

I have an idea I'd like to share (OFF ROAD)
MorganM replied to mtsfabman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All that work just for 31"s ? Go 33"x12" atleast! Twould be a mean machine; no doubt about that. -
if it is here already ...sorry
MorganM replied to monstaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's not going to poor fuel out untill your tank is empty. Just pull them off and point them into a bucket or bottle untill they stop dripping. If they just keep dripping then shove a bolt in there thats slightly wider diameter than the ID of the fuel line. Sometimes the fuel filter up there can keep leaking as it holds a considerable amount of fuel itself. Or just keep the open ends of the lines up higher than the highest point of the fuel system. Since there is no real pressure to force it through it wont leak out -
another oil cooler thread!
MorganM replied to avatar382's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Find one at a junkyard. Lots of cars came with oil coolers. Get the adapter for your pump/filter from WJM. Then hit up a junkyard for the 'cooler'. -
You know you need a better Subaru dealer when...
MorganM replied to Turtle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I hear you man. Parts dudes at one of my local Subaru dealer are so rude to me when I come in asking for old Subaru parts I just stopped going there. Their service twoards me ranges from 'cold shoulder' to 'roll eyes, sigh, and say OKAY hold on... I have to go look in the book... sigh' Good thing there are a couple around the twin cities -
Is your car called Winky? Looks good man. Nice shot of showing that SRT4 what for on the strip!

Cooling system HELP!! '92 Loyale BAFFLING!!
MorganM replied to asdf56's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good questions Frank. Important things to look at there. Skeet: a hood scoop is not a solution to an overheating problem. Something is not functioning properly or is broken. A repair is required. My EA82 SPFI stays cool with only the auxilary electric fan, no clutch fan, no hood scoop, no oil cooler. First track down the problem. Lots of trouble shooting things to try listed in this thread. -
the "THING" in front of the fuel pump???..
MorganM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sure no problem: They actually wanted $75 when I bought mine. Either the Napa I went to is expensive or people cought on how cheap those high flow/pressure pumps were so they upped the price... dunno which or what it is but it sure beats $255 they wanted for a new Subaru one! Wish I could have scored one at a junkyard. Woudl have been way cheaper than $75 but oh well its brand new -
Subaru's cant be riced out? You've never seen some around here then
-
Yes! Bring it on down. I hope to have a diff welded up here pretty soon. I dunno if I can get it done before the 26th tho. Hopefully! Joe: That would be great. I was thinking of leaving Friday ASAP. You have Fridays off right? Maybe I'll take a halfday off and we can head out from the cities around noon?

MorganM replied to 88xt6joe's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Gimme a call if something happens in MN. I got LOTS of EJ22 parts laying around my garage Hope she gets there safe. Those Legacys are pretty rock solid so I think she'll be fine. So while the cats away the mice can play, right? -
the "THING" in front of the fuel pump???..
MorganM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yep found that on my pump when I replaced it here recently. Mine had rusted away to nothing and litearlly disinegrated in my hand when i touched it. I just used a Ford truck EFI cheap replacement from Napa. Arch is running the same one on his EA82 MPFI and it seems to be working fine on my EA82 SPFI. Napa and everyone else wanted $200+ for a "new" EA82 SPFI/MPFI/Turbo fuel pump I can dig up the part number if you want. Hopefully you can find one at a junkyard or something and get it replaced MUCH cheaper. -
Mine is terminal. I expect her to last no more than 5 years before it's unsafe to drive on the road Good thing they are throw away cars
