ground questions , locations
MorganM replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The electrical schimatic for these things hurts my brain to look at. Just pop the hood and start finding them. There are TONS of them. Follow wires that are just bolted down to the body/frame/engine... those are the grounds How old is that battery? Might have a wussy battery thats over working your alternator all the time. Puts a lot more stress on the alternator if its trying to charge a worn out battery AND run all yoru accessories. -
Tire size question (4 the idiot me)
MorganM replied to Taggs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Roger that. Its a Loyale; not an EA81 Once you get the stupid plastic fender splash guards all out of the way there is a lot of room for height. Youll have to fold over that large seam in the unibody. Then roll the corners of your outer fenders so you can turn. Just keep making room as you see fit for turning and stuffing. I really doubt youd have to cut anything unless you wanted to. The point is if you WANT them to fit they WILL but you have to MAKE them fit -

Looked different to me /shrug Warming up? Never Every time I thought I needed one of those I opend it up, read the section, and threw it back where I found it.... useless. This PDF I got from that site Spideyz posted looks WAY better than either one of those sources. -
White exhuast smoke = ???
MorganM replied to ChattavegasXT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
For smoke I go by smell. Colors are obscure and lots of men are partial color blind anyway Usually I've noticed white is coolant/water. Blue/white is oil. Black/grey is wasted fuel. Pure black is carbon. -

I'm off to Iowa, Des Moines vicinity.

Hey Knoxville; I used to go watch sprint car races there when I lived in Iowa What kind of scooters are those? I love minibikes and old scooters Have a safe trip man. -
True dat. On my EJ22 it was NOT part of the throttle body. It was a sepreate part completly that bolts on the passangers side of the intake manifold. Right by where the TB bolts to the intake mani. I pulled mine off and could tell it was kinday sticky and obviously dirty. Have you tried pulling yorus off and cleaning it?
-
Good call. Sometimes a rock or something can get wedged up in there funny. I would also suggest pulling that wheel off and taking a good look. See if there is an indicator clip on the pad. It will be a funny looking metal tab sticking out an end of the pad that will rub on the rotor surface to indicate the pads are getting low. If there isnt one then stick your head in the fender well and look directly down onto the caliper. Youll see the rotor sandwitched between the pads. Might need a flash light; gets dark in there There should be some meat on them pads! If not then it might be time for new pads. Prolly a good time to check your front pads too; just to see how far you got to go since you are all dirty now anyways !_!

I was just surfing through there under 1988 GL Subaru after seeing your post here. Pretty good info. Seems better than a dang Chilton/Haynes -
I think you guys could put it on. This is just a toy right? Not your daily driver? Just put it up on stands and figure it out. Might take a few nights of can crushing and head scratching but youll get it !_! Good luck

5 matching peugeot steels in spovegas
MorganM replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Double check that they arent metric diameter !_! Tought time finding affordable tires on the metric ones. -
Look closer; doesnt the strap attach to a metal latch? Otherwise the bench would flip up when you slammed the brakes or got in an accident. Wouldnt want it to be a catapult in an emergancy
-
Isnt that strap attached to a metal clip? Wouldnt want that rear bench to turn into an Automatic Emergancy Ejection Bench
-
In the center of the bench seat, down low, there is a loop for your fingers. Might be tucked up uncder the bench where the carpet meets the bench. Dig it out of there and tug. This is actually a small latch you are pulling on and allows it to flip up. Not a stupid question; I didnt know mine even flipped up the firest 3 years I owned it

Aftermarket Fuel pump? PSI GPH
MorganM replied to madkow007's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welp I installed the Ford pump. Works fine. Cut off the wire harness from the old pump. Wired it to the new pump and pluged it in. Plumbed up the lines inside the cabin. She fired right up! Only issue I see is the feed line from the tank to the pump is larger ID than the OD of the fitting on the pump. I had to make a coupler between two sized lines to adapt to the fitting on end of the pump. The end that goes to the engine had the right size fitting and the lines went right on no problem.
