  1. Id atleast try to replace the part. Could get one for free from a junkyard that lets you pull your own parts. Something that small they wont even care about or have listed for a price. Youll want to use good hose clamps. I like the OEM ones you find under the hood on the fuel lines. Nice stainless steel solid clamps. Any new clamp will do however but use a screw tight clamp. No wussy spring clamps. That pump puts out real PSI I used a large bolt to plug the lines. One slightly larger than the ID of the tube. Just pulled it off my pump, quickly shoved and screwed in the bolt. It will actually thread lightly into the rubber and hold tight. Have a nice wide pan to catch the fuel you spill !_! Be sure to use EFI rated fuel line. Dont want it ruptureing at a clamp or fitting. HOpe this helps a little. Good luck with the repair
  2. So lets see some dyno print outs of these magic EA82s you speak of... wait you dont have any? Its just a GUESS? Neat... As you can see there are lots of guesses and theorioes in this thread. We prefer facts Lots of people think they have tons of hp/torque. Fact is you dont know what you have untill you strap your rump roast down to a dyno and find out. WJM thought he had tons more power before his last dyno run and was dissapointed by the FACTS. Also lets quit comparing GUESSTIMATED 4valve dohc engine outputs to 2valve sohc engines okay?
  3. Throw them in the garbage and smile Problem solved !_!
  4. Theory is not fact until it is proven. Until then it is only theory and not fact. Prove your theory then...and only then...will it truly be fact.
  5. Same here The EPA says its illegal to sell used cats so most yards cut them out or wont sell them. IIts harder to find a Y pipe around here than it is a turbo! That's really why I HAD to go with custom exhuast for so long. Couldnt get a used one and a "new" one was $200-$400. Finally got ahold of an EA81 Y pipeand spacers for my EA82 SPFI.
  6. Ya those PDFs I was looking at are WAY WAY WAY better than ANY Chiltons/Haynes I've ever looked in.
  7. For sure you could do it on a day. I did the water pump on my wife's 91 Century (transvers mounted 3.3 v6) in one day and I've never ever done more than change the oil on that thing. Between that job and a Subaru water pump I'd say the Subaru water pump is even easier
  8. Rear Calipers: 1985 Subaru GL $79 each $69 core charge Rear Soft Lines: $15 each They can also do any custom softlines you want. I had some 2' ones made with the Subaru metric fittings I needed. Local brake warehouse here: www.brakeplace.com Only problem I had was they dont stock backing plates which I needed for converting my drums. Ended up going to a junkyard and grabing the calipers, rotors/hubs and backing plates. That sucks your local yards cut the lines. Lazy sons of goats! Here they punch holes in the oil pans and tranny pans cuz they are too lazy to unscrew the plugs to drain the fluids!
  9. Thanks for the links guys this is GREAT STUFF! /me goes back to reading
  10. Id have to agree. Sounds like a load of BS really. He lost the last ounce of credibility by calling this newest car a 95 "rex"... its not a dinosaur
  11. Sounds like the alternator to me. Your voltage is dropping and spiking while the engine is running. Thats the alternator do'n funny things. The battery and alternator work together however so a lot of times if the alt is going the battery goes too and if the battery is going it over works the alt and it goes out. A good battery tester will have a Load Test on it. That will tell you if the battery is good to go. As for alternators I've seen 3 different fancy devices and machines say an alternator was OK only to replace it and fix my electrical problems that I suspected was an alternator. This happend on 2 different alternators If you got the money to spend do both. Do a load test and replace the alternator.
  12. Way more realistic prices here for that car I paied $400 for my 88GL wagon. It ran and drove just fine. Pretty rusted out though. I wouldnt hesitate to offer him $50 for the car and $100 for an ENTIRE engine. All he'll say is no or try to work you up
  13. Would love to make it this year. Still reading over all the material you linked. I do not know what is going on in SEPT with my family. Have to get back with you to confirm if I can go or not. TTYL
  14. Yeah man fight in real life over Subarus... thats the spirit huh? Can't you two play nice?
  15. hey nice scoop... WANNA RACE? *VROOM VROOM*
  16. As stated above the negative impact will be minimal. You will be grinning too hard offroading with new tires to worry about how it handels on the hiway Rage that Legacy! I saw the tires you were looking at straping on and they will be FUN
  17. And this is why you sir, are still a pioneer in Subaru Engineering ( pls dont let this go to your head LOL!_! )
  18. TOO loud? Never! Glad you are happy with the results. Rev it UP!
  19. I wish I had your problem! Mine never seems to get high enough when its at full temp. Maybe we just have crapy sending units? Might try a real pressure guage first and see if its really that high.
  20. Speaking of your 'ole lady; strip it and put it on the shelf 'till you need it later
  21. So what you are saying is with a SuperTrapp it would be a fully custom and tuneable stainless steel exhuast system?
  22. I'd get a GL wagon with 4WD for sure. I am none too impressed with Loyales features. GL and GL10 will be loaded to the gills. Forget the AT. Its just asking for trouble. $1500 should get you a damn nice GL.
