  1. dude... if you have to ask, youll NEVER know
  2. You are right; it does hold stuff together. You need to leave the outer stub/cv sitting in there. The axles on these are assemblies that can be taken a part. I was just looking at Arch's this weekend and this outer CV is still in there flinging grease EVERYWHERE
  3. This is the fun part! Is there any support from Scorpion? They would have the instructions if you could get ahold of them and get a copy. Might have to find someone who's bought this lift and still has the instructions. Could try the AUS Subaru boards, maybe someone would be kind enough to post some links for you to try
  4. The EA81 not slow enough for you already? There was talk on the old EZ board of a dude who converted an EA82 or EA81 into an air pump. Esencially it was a 2 cylinder engine and the other 2 cylinders were the air pump. So I guess to answer, yes it is possible. Might be a good start for this idea finding this crazy air pump or the dude who made it.
  5. True dat! Thats why i hated my Buick with the 472ci in it. Simple repairs were just stupid hard due to how huge and heavy parts were! I'm not really a strong guy; I have an 18" breaker bar and 4' cheater for good reason. Doing the intake manifold it took TWO people to lift the thing just for a gasket job! The starter I could barely hold with one arm while I had to start a bolt with the other as it weight as much as a subary cylinder head! Subarus rule !_!
  6. No probs with the BYB 3" kit itself. This is good considering I bolted it into a very rusted out wagon. Only problem I've had is with the MUD and my allterrain tires
  7. Awsome! Maybe WJM should be coordinating with him or hopefully already is.
  8. I barked up this tree long, long ago. Called A LOT of places and did a lot of research. It ended up being just as expensive and they would be offroad ONLY tires ATV tires and rims arent cheap really. You'd need the rims also because those skinny little 13" subaru rims wont seat wide ATV tires. Maybe if you could find a used set cheap? I couldnt at the time
  9. Dunno about the shocks. Brake lines are fine all the way upto a 4" body lift. Hose MIGHt fit but if not youll have to cut it down yourself; the kit doesnt come with one. For BYB 3" kit I cut my lower hose in half and used a copper coupler. The upper hose reached just fine.
  10. [quote name=mAJJJORD we are talking about 300 at the most, and its been done before, and its not a problem.[/quote] Where are these 300 hp EA82 turbos? Or are you comparing other engines to this one again?
  11. Here are some manuals for that engine. They should help some http://www.finleyweb.net/docs/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart1.pdf http://www.finleyweb.net/docs/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart2.pdf
  12. Now this is the pressure required for the SPFI to operate properly, right? How much pressure does the OEM fuel pump put out? Just called 4 dealerships; 3 said 'der we dont know cuz we throw out any information older than 6 yars and dun care!' and one said he'd call me back when he can look in a manual but I'm not holding my breath for him to call me back... they sounded BUSY.
  13. It fires like a boxer punches... the old 1-2 punch! The EA82 fire order is 1 3 2 4. It fires one side than the other. The fires are not in a perfect sucession but rather in a staggerd pattern. This is why its a "boxer" engine.
  14. I tighten them one half then one quarter turn past snug. THey dont need to be SUPER tight. I used to put them on really tight and ended up breaking 2 studs on a Buick the next time I went to take them off. Are the actual ft/lbs in the owners manual; they usually have stuff like that. Just like a most anything I use opposite / opposing corners. For example top left, lower right, top right, lower left.
  15. Wow... I dunno if I got all of that but I did read the whole thing :-p Welp lets start with the distributor since this was the last thing messed with since the car started acting like this. Maybe your rotor keeps getting loose? Take the distributor cap off and wiggle the rotor. The cap should come off with 2 screws; leave all the spark plug wires attached. There should not be more than like .5mm play when you wiggle the rotor; should be almost solid. If it's loose then tighten the screw that holds it in and see if that fixes it. From your post it sounds like the mechanic has done this before? Maybe it needs some loctite on the screw to hold it in good now? Also ask the mechanic what else he messed with. Didn't it run fine before you took it there?
  16. That's cuz they are the same Prolly why a new pump for an SPFI is $255. A new one was really expensve no matter where I went. Wish I could nab a used one but the closest used ones are in WI or on the border of IA/MN. This new ford one should do me good tho.
  17. Whatever you can find in the best condition for the best price I would definatly stay away from Auto Transmissions. Get a 5 speed for sure.
  18. Just picked one up today as mine wont turn on any more. They wanted $75 for #2p74028. Beats paying $255 list for the Subaru one! Can't seem to find any used ones
  19. Wheel size wont make you rub on anything. That's the tires that youll be putting on the wheels. Either one of those rims will be fine. Steel youll find it easier to get a shop to straighten them out if you dent one. Aluminum alloys are way lighter however and that is good too. The sizes are fine just pick one since they are so close in width. The time it takes to install the lift will depend mostly on your skills as a mechanic and how rusty the vehicle is. Keep in mind this is a project and youll have to put the car up on stands. Set asside the time you think it will take YOU to do it. Mine and others have taken considerably longer to install due to rust. Bolts are VERY hard to come out or break off and need to be extracted. Heads of bolts crumble away and round of. It is still fesable however and well worth the end result. What drive train is in that Loyale? What tires were you thinking about going with?
  20. All day Prolly 10AM till 7PM heh. I had to go find and buy parts all over the metro area that day too. Sorry to hear you ran into some snags. Does yoru AC still even work? I removed all of mine since it was out of coolant. Grab that larger socket for the crank pulley and you should be set.
  21. Definatly worth a look if you got the money to spend!
  22. Yep, talk is cheap... that's why comments are only worth 2 cents  Enough talk; its time to just do it or stop BS'n about it.
  23. I do not belive you have a hill holder. Verify this that you have one first Shouldnt be the E brake cuz thats a rear E brake on the Legacy. Sounds like the piston is stuck out. Time to jack it up, pull off a wheel and start looking
  24. Just talked to my wife. That weekend is her sisters birthday but she said its cool and I can go Hope some more USMB members can make it!
