  1. Honestly GET a torch or borrow some air tools. You can get a small torch setup for $50 at Home Depot. 2 small tanks (oxygen and accediline) with a mixer and everything to get you set up. You can also just buy some MAP guass with a nozel on it for way cheaper. I use breaker bars A LOT. Usually I end up slipping 2' or doubleing up to 4' of cheater bar on my 15" flex handel breaker bar. Rust is nothing new to me or bolts that are rusted and heat welded on! My impact wrench is 10 times better and loosening things withOUT breaking the bolt! Best luck I've had with the breaker bar and cheaters is first heating royaly with torch. The worst is drilling out a damn bolt out thats broke off. I've done that way too many times. Its irritating at the very least and ads hours to any project. EZ Outs? Waste of your money... Nut Buster? Worthless... Heat or Air tools are THE WIN!
  2. Is it worth it to YOU? That's what really matters. Sure its a big waste of time and money but if you want to do it the do it! I converted my 2WD GL wagon to a 4WD Dual Range setup. All those fancy parts mentioned above I had to take from one car and swap to another. You are right tho; easier to just swap engines into an AWD model
  3. He's in CALF tho... dont they got some mad emissions control standards there to pass? Don't be too shocked when you see the pirces of 'new' ones! Anyway you could score a used one? Mufflers well... everyone has an opinion on them. I like the thunder bolt style glass packs. Others enjoy their flowmasters, cherry bombs, and verious flavors of 'turbo' mufflers. Lots to choose from
  4. Thats what I'm saying. If you dont already know who then its prolly not your business and certainly not the whole USMB's. :-\
  5. Whoa settle down there big guy Calbez hit it dead on... I would take him up on that offer too if you want some good first hand knowledge.
  6. I think the dancing banana says it all... :banana:10 MORE YEARS:banana:
  7. Just talked to a couple Subaru techs at local dealerships. The thermosensor is on the coolant corssover pipe on the passangers side. There are 2 sensors, one for ECU and one is for fans. The smaller one is for the fans. Now 2 people said the default action if that fails is to run the fans all the time. This is how it was on my '91 Legacy also. One person said no it would just shut them off and another said 'no comment' =P A sticky thermostat could be to blame. They tend to get stuck SHUT and not open all the way and some times not at all Also any air in the system? That can cuase spikes in your temp. I've had pin hole leaks in hoses that cuased temp spikes also. Check all them hoses good for tiny holes and give them a good squeeze to see if they are still solid or all worn out.
  8. Will the front hub on 4WD L series bolt onto the rear disc rotor from anotehr 4WD L series? This would be in context with someone converting drums to discs on a 4WD L series. If one was to buy brand new rotors, remanufactured calipers, and make their own backing plates... would they be able to use the hubs from the front of a donor car on the rear ? Thankfully I grabed everything from a junkyard car I needed but not everyone can do that. Thanks!
  9. That would be awsome, thanks. Also what year/make/model did they come off of?
  10. I really dont see whats wrong with pointing it forward. You got a filter in there right? Let it do its job and replace it often. If it really concerns you that much about getting any dirt, mud, bugs, or small woodland creatures stuck in your snorkal then put a cone filter or a screen mesh on the front of the snorkel and leave yoru OEM box filter in there too.
  11. Got some work ahead of you! Put a post in the Meet/Greet about a work session. Maybe you can get some extra hands in there to help
  12. Shouldnt his really be in offtopic? Honestly tho who cares and should we? If he wouldnt even tell people over the phone who it was or why; I doubt he wants the whole USMB to know or care...
  13. Sounds kinda like the exhuast ports on EJ22... maybe an EJ18 manifold would bolt up? Might be something to look into
  14. Awsome! So whats on sale for your big 10 year aniversery sale?
  15. I told him the ending to Princess Diaries 2 before he saw it
  16. There is plenty of pep in the EA82 SPFI to move 30"s. Right now I have 29"s on as the 30"s were very worn out. I don't use 5th gear much but getting onto the highway and maintaining speed with traffic is not a problem. Is it damn slow? You bet; but I can still spin the tires Once you get in 4WD Lo power is not an issue. Plenty of torque to the wheels Turbo would be nice but I wouldnt hold off your project on it. Sounds like you got the stuff to get it lifted and rolling. I'd do it sooner rather than later! How much back spacing is on those chevy rims? I'm still hunting for some rims with less back spacing so I can go with a wider tire. Thanks!
  17. You found it dude! Check out the Marketplace forum
  18. I hope to head down that Friday afternoon and get there before dark. Might take a half day at work so I can get an earlier start... have to see how that works out. Maybe Ill throw a post up on the MN Jeep message board and see if anyone else is going. Might get a caravan down from Faribault or something. That way those fancy expensive jeeps can tow me to Iowa if I break down
