subaru oil pressure
A friend of mine describes the problem as the diaphram in the sending unit having a pinhole leak that causes it to lose pressure, thus the pressure appears to drop. I've been experiencing the same problem with my xt6. He claims the engine will shut off at around 7-9 psi, a kind of safety switch operation.

Things to look for in '84 Brat?
Rust on the strut towers is a big killer of Subarus. Other rust issues can be dealt with.

leaking windshield
A glass shop will pump in a flow-grade butyl sealant around the edge of the shield, between the glass and the rubber. But who is to say your pinchweld isn't rusted and it's leaking there, or the leak is between the gasket and the pinchweld? A local shop will fix the leak and guarantee it for under $50. What is it worth to you?

an evil cackle echoes throughout anchorage...
northguy replied to Snowman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXKelly, The old car never looked better. With your dual battery set up and new alternator, you could probably put in an on-demand hot water dispenser for instant espresso on those long trips back and forth to Haines. Thanks for dropping off the shotgun. It doesn't seem to have been fired, so I'd imagine there was no run ins with big hairy animals, or your hold-ups of the local convenience stores were uneventful.

99 Outback Head Gasket question-advice?
northguy replied to michelle's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSOA's standard "fix" for headgasket problems is to add a little bottle of black goo that seeps into and breach in the H/G and seals it up. I know the community (and I) am skeptical of this practice, but my mechanic affirms that it really does work. Cheap fix = a couple of bucks.

Big Thank you for Zap and Ken,and crew
Thanks to all who hosted this year's show, and to all who have helped out in the past. It is a big job and often goes unrewarded and unapplauded. Even though I could not attend this year, I want to thank all involved. It is a pretty special event that brings some very cool people for a common cause. I sincerely hope someone else picks up the ball and runs with it next year.

lift kits
I can recommend Ozified (P K Davis) as I have one of his kits on my Brat. There are others available (Allied Armament, SJR Lifts...) but I have no experience with them. I've read good things about all of the kits available, though.

1987 Brat - Need to fix idle Issue
You may have some residue (crap) in the throttle body portion where the idle solenoid is located. Sometimes by covering the carb when the motor is at high rpms and quickly pulling the rag off can suck the debris out. If not, it means taking the carb back apart.

anyone ever replace windshield?
Most shops will install your glass, but won't guarantee they won't break it in the process. Starting in 1984, all windshields used urethane to glue the windshield in place, so it may be difficult for you to remove your old one. Carefully cut the old glue next to the glass with a razor knife and then have a friend hold slight pressure against the glass on the outside while you "kick" the shield out from the inside. Put a blanket on the hood just in case, and duct tape the defroster vents.
