reliability of 2.0 liter engines
How reliable are the 2.0 l engines? Any problems like the 2.5 l headgasket problems? I also see there is a 3.0 l engine. What's the scoop on this model? Looking for a newer Subaru and want to avoid the problem motors.

nokian tires revisited
The Hak 1's and Hak 10's are what you want. They don't make them anymore, but you can also look under the Nordman name - it's the same tire - an off shoot of Nokian.

difficulty of lift installation
So, would it be worth my time to replace the struts and shocks at the same time, or would that make it even more difficult? And if so, are Gabriel struts any good?

does it cost alot to lift a 84 brat?
PK Davis (Ozified on the board) sells lift kits - great quality, decent price. Do a search and locate the thread I started on difficulty of installing a lift - a ton of great info from various sources that have installed PK's lift kits. I am currently waiting on mine for my 83 Brat.

Underbody coating
Herculinered my whole bed in the Brat. Tough stuff. Easy application. Fairly economical.

do 95-99 2.2L engine headgaskets leak? (like 2.5l)
northguy replied to kevin1walsh's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe 2.2's seem to be pretty bulletproof if maintainance is done regularly. I don't own a SVX, but most of the common problems I've seen posted about them seem to be with the transmissions and the disc brakes warping quite often.

Torxxx, Snowman, Northguy AK lift kits
PK I sent you an e-mail and a PM ordering the lift kit. Was wondering if you got it? Am looking for confirmation of the order, total cost, and your address. Also need to know form of payment. Thanks.

how much does an engine weigh??????
I lifted one from the ground to the back of my Brat and then unloaded it myself. Around 150 max. I'm no big guy.

made the 100,000 club....
It's interesting that most people try to limit the mileage on their cars while Subaru owners celebrate their high miles?

saved a dl from the crusher
If you hadn't mentioned that you got it real cheap (which implies there may be a profit mitive involved) you could have qualified for a humanitarian award.

difficulty of lift installation
Now that I have committed to installing a lift in my 83 Brat, I am wondering what degree of difficulty is involved. Can a mediocre mechanic (me) install it in a weekend without too much throwing of wrenches and cursing at inanimate objects? Any tips or pitfalls to be particularly aware of?

T-topping a DL brat vs. windshield -- Chef Tim?
Wonder how Tim had his Hatch done? Guess we won't know that answer now. [/b] Tim is still on the board. He just resigned as a moderator. Feel free to ask him, I'm sure he'll be happy to tell you.

Welcome to the board. I sent you an e-mail through e-bay yesterday to see if you were a board member, and got no answer so I bid against you. Wish I had known beforehand.

Torxxx, Snowman, Northguy AK lift kits
And after looking at this, it appears that there is no advantage to ordering the kits in a bundle. So, Torxxx, it might be better to have yours sent to Fairbanks and if you find the time to get together with us, we'll certainly help you with it. And Kelly, you may as well have yours sent to your dorm. We can link up later for the install. So, PK, Yes, put my order on. Let me know how you want payment, and I'll PM or e-mail you the address. I'll take you up on the Fed ex route.

Got the quote from NAC link - $187.00 deferred freight (5 - 12 days) that's an additional $62 each. Sounds like the Fed ex route is the best option. I'm down for that, and Kelly and Torxxx, I will order and pay in the next 3 days. So if you are on board, let's hear and get some money to PK.

Would you pay $31,000 on a new car...
northguy replied to duane b's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFor 31,000 dollars, I could buy a whole fleet of roos to off-road with, steal parts from, part out, fix up, create several really nice ones... no, I wouldn't pay that much for any car. Don't need to go that fast, and don't want to take an expensive car into the woods.

NAClink, a division of Northern Air Cargo is another airshipper, and I received a set of Pug wheels from Ed Rach through them. I'll try to get a quote from them and let you know. If that is the case, payment for shipping can be paid to them at point of pick up. Maybe that's the route to go - less outlay for you. I'll report back. In he meantime, Torxxx and Snowman - let's hear from you.

Torxxx, Snowman, Northguy AK lift kits
I just visited Alaska Airlines cargo site (1-800-225-2752) and the information posted there says you can ship at economy rate, up to 250 pounds from airport (San Diego) to airport (Anchorage) for $85.00, if you're willing to drop them off at the cargo area / freight office. If you could do that, Patrick, that should put the price for shipping considerably lower and guarantee no molestation of the package. How does that sound? PK, Torxxx, Kelly? Let's get this sewed up. I am in.
