Weber 32/36 I have it jetted rich for my engine, its going on a new one, that should be in and running friday, it seems to do really well, but dosn't like backwards to anti-clockwise cookies

As far as competitors pricing 1000 for a long block is a down right steal. and that includes a 3/36 warranty, the same as a new subaru.

I got a red top too, i think that its great, when trying to put my engine in, i was able to crank the engine all day, and the battery was still good to go. i reccomend them if you can justify the expense.

I'd not take off more than .015 per head, any more and the heads and intake don't line up, talk with Qman, i think he may have taken off .020, but issues may have arisen from that.

i hate to burst bubbles but a weber won't add 25 horse power, maybe 10 at the crank, it may add a fair amount under the curve, but not 25. that said the weber and a good exhaust is a great starting point for getting more pep out of your car. however if you want to get real power try this, this is what i'm doing with mine 1600 pistons, raises compression deck heads .015, raises compression 1.70 intake 1.42 exhaust valves, more flow Weber, more flow Free flow custom exhaust, more flow Delta Cam, more flow. Disty recurve, more torque Try some of that and you'll have more power than you can deal with.

I payed 50 for mine, plus shipping. it was an ea-81 cam however i don't know if that makes a difference

Need punch size for cv axle swap

If you use a pair of diaganal cutters aka "dikes" and use the housing to pry against, sort of push down on the handles it should pull up on the pin, that works better than pliers. just a thought for those that havn't tried it yet -
By GL i meant the switch from the single range DL to the Dual range GL. thanks for the tip anyway.

better get those tires quick i'm jealous i spent way too much on mine. i have lifted the same car that you have, at least pretty close to the same, check it out in the photo gallery its on page 5 near the bottom right

Good call on the fan belt, i am getting rid of the power steering so the old belt won't work, and the intake and exhaust gaskets thats a good call, as far as exhaust studs i have brand new studs, in good threads that are loctited in so i only need the nuts.

Any 80's subie has its ups and downs, its all a matter of preference to body style and EA-81 or EA82. as far as a lift, if you can't afford the lift the tires will be out of your price range too, i paid 355 for the lift and about 600 for just the tires, the wheels were about 125, for a set of good peugeot's. you can build it up in stages, get the lift now and wait for the tires. i had the lift on for half a year before i got the bigger tires on. I'm going to endorse PKDavis as well, its dirt cheap for a lift that size and it has all the kinks worked out, easiest lift to install period.

So i'm installing a new engine this weekend or next, from CCR and i'm trying to figure out what things i'll need to get before i make the car undrivable. ie, if i don't have the part, i'll have to put the old engine in and make a trip to the parts store, so anything you can think of no matter how glaringly obvious let me know, and if its somthing for a little extra pep like 8mm plug wires i'm all ears. My list so far Exhaust bolts coolant 8mm spark plug wires Castrol 5w-30 FHI official oil filter I'm sure that there are a ton of other things that i'm forgetting, like having to rewire my fuel pump because it won't be getting a signal from my disty anymore.

I was wondering that too, thanks for asking, i always seem to loose my punch, either in the back of my wagon or i break it. i'll have to go pick one up this week -
just a thought look up the urathane bushing thread, there are plenty of pics from that, its the one with ken's new engine in his brat, they were discussing motor mounts.
-
What may i enquire would this would be for?
-
I must concur with my associates, don't un turbo a very rare turbo car, especcialy a brat. but as far as cam's go with Delta, i have one and ken has 2 with their cams. paeco is way to spendy and you could also go with Ram Engines http://www.ramengines.com they sell brand new cams, not regrinds for about 200-300 ish.

ea81's.. why'd they change em
NoahDL88 replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Look there it goes....... oh no, we missed the boat. The reason we switched to OHC from OHV was for emissions, that was the only reason. you can get mad power out of any engine out there, even one cylinder 2 strokes. but to get the power out of an older engine and still pass emissions is a tough thing to do. switching to fuel injection, which seems to have been forgotten on the EA-82 is one of the major factors in its increase in horse power. and because its more accurate it can also pass emissions. the only thing that changes engines in industry is emissions, if we still had the same emission standards as we had in 1985 we would still be using 1985 engines, the only pushrod cars left for the most part are larger cars, with 30 year old engines, ie buick 3.8, and trucks. which are in a different emission class so they can pollute more than cars. -

How fast can you do a T-belt in the snow?
-
First off make sure your not shifting into 4wd on asphalt, second check to make sure your tires are all the same size, i had that problem with mine when i was running 175's and 185's, not my fault, they were like that when bought the car

the conversion is the easy part, thanks to an excellent write up on the topic, but finding an XT-6 alternator, now thats the hard part. so if anyone has one, be sure to let me know;)
