Tell him Hi from Sweet82 in SLC. I wish him well and hope every things as good as it can be Find out what's going on with his little ones? Where are they and who is looking after them while he's laid up? Glenn, -

Where do I get pins for axles?
Sweet82 replied to jupp24's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I get my "pins" at the hardware store:rolleyes: They are sold by the pound.... -
Remember clear lights facing rearward are illegal in most states... You don't want to make yourself a magnet for attracting law enforcement.

Classic "Western" movie scenery there. I was for looking John Wayne in the background. Where's the hub caps?...or did someone loose them on a "quick" trip in??? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester

The Bug backed into the Forester Door. The Bug hit the Forester with one of the strongest parts--the bumper. The Forester got hit in one of the weakest places--a door. There was little to no damage on the Bug bumper. Were talking less than 5 mph. I finally saw the actual estimate last night. The bill was actually $1,800. A door shell was $495! Then there was paint and labor. The "Forester" words on the side were $40 or roughly $5 a letter. Gurrr....

I didn't know you were a spelunker? Me too!

They didn't mess with the cat? They re-shaped the end of the Y pipe and a installed higher exhaust line. I'm going to change plugs and see what happens??? I hate working on cars in the cold when it's dark..... Glenn

82 Subaru Usually runs rich when first fires up. Blows black smoke on a rev. before it's warm. Used to run fine after warming for a minute. Now it... Cranks fine. Has spark. Has fuel to the front filter. Will not start with starting fluid. Have blocked open choke valve...didn't do anything. Dropped it off at the muffler shop for some custom exhaust raising work and now it... Won't Start? Cleaned the BLACK plugs and got it to attempt to fire for a second. Any thoughts? I'm not having a good Subaru Day! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--mad about something. 84 GL--blown emission part. 01 Forester--dented!

I got backed into by a newer VW Bug. The Bug was only 2ft away and then put it into reverse so he didn't get much of a run at it. Consequently the damage is about as little as you could hope for... ...if you could really hope for these things... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=9080&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 No paint broken, just a dented door and a popped of plastic panel. Now the door doesn't close right. The side nerf bars seem to have held up without a scratch. Just whinning... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--dented

Took Summer out on Thanksgiving for a little frolic in the dirt. With the rear locked, I never did spin a tire the entire day! However I did power-out once, prolly a function of the tire size and the cliff I was climbing. Oh well!...and, Yes, I did make it up! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=9079&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 I need to get someone else to take the pics so I can get actual action shots...sorry. If they didn't know what it was in the first place, they wouldn't understand the Subaru logo.... Looks good I like your choice of colors.

My friends are hard core rock crawlers. They were skeptical when I first started my project. I think they now accept it for what it is. It's a cool trail rig but not a hard core crawler. They called my Diff "Cute!". For as much flack as I get, I find that when I appear, they are telling their friends "this is the one I was talking about", "this is the Subaru"! That tells me that there is much talk behind my back. Everyone has questions. People (I don't know) follow me or stop at my house to find out what it is? My wife paid the money and sent away for the plans. She thinks it's cool. I've now reached legendary status among my kids and their friends. On the 4th of July in neighborhood gatherings I'll give the kids rides and the lines never end! I think my hobby is well accepted. Glenn

The Wombat is cool but $6,000 + Too much for my wallet. If I'm spending 6k I'd be gettin something more capable. I'm into Summer $1,500 in this pic. and I think I like it better than the Green Humbug. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2099&sort=1&cat=500&page=4 I stretched the "Bandit" plans to make it a 4 seater like the Humbug. It would have cost big $ to purchase and ship the Humbug fiberglass front from down under.

How big is the gas tank?

My 82 Hatch was only 11.5 gal? I think the "Brochure" section will tell you what the capacitys are? -
What he said! My car did the same thing last weekend, it was a rainy/snowy day and when I fired it up it ran rough. I looked under the hood and was "shocked" at what I saw!!! Sparks jumping from my #4 wire to the metal. Drove it a bit and it ran fine in a matter of minutes. I replaced my wires anyway but I'm sure that humidity was the problem. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--FrankenForester!

The Brush Guard is cosmetic only! It is a cheap/expensive piece of plastic. I have one and it's only purpose is to look good short of that it's pointless. I think the reason is, if they make a real Brush Guard, it will interfere with the airbags and safety system. The car will fold up differently than they designed in a crash. However, http://www.scorpionsubaru.com/ These guys make some nice looking Bars and they have to be a little more functional than the factory Brush Guard. Any number of folks on the board will build you one? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--cool/cheezey factory brush guard.

It couldn't hurt to try the stop leak first. If it fails your not out much money. If your Subaru was under the recall for the cooling system conditioner, you may need to re-condition your system if you dump the antifreeze. Have you checked all your hoses? I found a leak behind my water pump in the by-pass hose. Very hard to find. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--leaked a bit

I replaced my spark plug wires over the weekend. They didn't want come off? They were just plain stuck on! ...after much labor & swearing, they finally popped off... A couple of them took 10 minutes each to get off. It got to the point I was going to take vice grips and pry them off? Anyone ever experienced this sort of stuff? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester L--welded on wires...

It's been around before. I'm suprised the car is still holding up? It looks to be in the same shape as when I saw it on video the first time. The fact that it's still around says something about how well Subaru's are made! I'd bet it will be jumping for years to come...
