  1. How were you planning to tow this car? Flat tow, dolly, trailer? If your towing in on a trailer, you must add in the weight of the trailer too! You don't want the vehicle being towed to out weigh the vehicle doing the towing. Could you make two trips? Con a friend into driving one of the vehicles? Towing is generally not where the problem comes in, Stopping is where the problems occur. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  2. The bumper on my 1982 was a 2.5 mph crash rating. Because it was classed as a truck it didn't even need to be 5 mph! The Foresters are classed as trucks also. I wouldn't trust your front bumper for anything. Even the tie-down points are useless for pulling.
  3. Heres a link to some pics of Mad Max. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7431&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500&page=2 Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--it's a wagon too!
  4. You could design your own with out the dimensions. Your just going to measure the distance between your factory tie down hooks (loops). These hooks are removed to and you will use those holes, in your frame, for your push bar mounts. So whatever that distance is? Here is another pic to go with your first pic, You should be able to see the mounting plates and match those to the ones already on your vehicle. There are also some mounting points that will connect to your bumper. You can see those in the pic too. http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo21/MVC_267F You can do it! 5. My switch says "Center Lamp", I think? If you can't see it behind the logo in the grill, you don't have one.
  6. How are your welding skills? How are your friends welding skills? You could make your own custom bar? Shop for ideas on what other people have done and decide what works best for you? Food for thought, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  7. Welcome to the board, Sharing Ideas is what this is all about. If you have a problem with your Imprezza, there is a good chance someone else will have that same problem at some point. Sharing is a good thing, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  8. That has got to be the most Fugly Forester I've ever seen! Where can I get one?
  9. I have some vintage Skidoos and some newer ones... I've found that the old TNT 340's are faster (acceleration) than the newer sleds. Too bad they're not collectors items...
  10. Been a while since we've had a Utah thread. There is at least 150 registered users from Utah only about half have ever posted anything. ...and only one is a blatant "Post Hoe" This is your chance. If Urine Utah, speak up! After all, this is the land of at least 3 Subarus, at any given intersection! Try counting sometime and you'll see... We need to get out more...
  11. Sounds kinda fun but what would be so different than what we already have here? Be fun to get some stickers popping up on Subaru's all over the country. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  12. Welcome to the board! The folks down under are very creative/nuts with their Subarus. You live in a good place to get help and parts for your Subie. I only wish we had some of those resources up here! Some "local" websites off the top of my head are; http://www.rhinobuggies.com.au/ http://www.scorpionsubaru.com/ http://users.bigpond.net.au/bybsubi/main.htm Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Rhino 84 GL--Needs BYB lift 01 Forester--Needs Scorpion accessories
  13. The real issue is what is causing it to stink? If it's dead mice, be careful! I'd try and locate the source and then deal with the cleanup. Mice probably entered in the bottom of the center console and then died. Try pulling some of the bottom plastic off the heater in the foot area and see what you can find??? Don't breathe that crap! Bleach should disinfect it. Good Luck, Glenn several vehicles with mice in them...
  14. I'd asscess your needs, the difference between a plow and a blower are significant. With a plow you will need more space to store the snow every time you use it? In tight places you may not have anywhere for the snow to go? Blowers will get rid of the snow but don't move it very far or do large areas well? A Subie plow is a fun idea but only good in the right application. Something to think about? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--wants a plow... 84 GL 01 Forester
  15. I think anything is possible. Just requires a little creativity. ...and some realistic desigining. I was thinking on putting a plow on the buggy? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  16. With that camara those flares look great!
  17. Great Info, Thanks! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  18. Ok, I go get new wires and get ready to put them on. It's dark and I open the hood and no sparks? What's up with that? I'll probably replace the wires anyway but how come the sparks are gone? Only thing I can think of is when it happened it had been snowing/raining all day and was extremely humid outside but nothing was wet and the car had not been driven that day? Just plain weird:confused: Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 FrankenForester Wire prices... Pepboys $82.00 Checker $40.00 but they don't have any Dealer $44.00 for OEM:D
  19. It's only flat on one side. Try running it on the other side:lol:
  20. Hummm..... Look at the newest member on their board now.... I hope it stays positive...
  21. Congrats on the newest Subie. Welcome to the board too. Do you guys get the Dual Range transmissions over there? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  22. A buddy just sent me this clip... All in all I thought it was positive so far... http://www.rockymountainextreme.com/showthread.php?t=27070&highlight=subaru
  23. Have not tried anything yet, I wanted to try the board first. Didn't want to buy wires or take it to a dealer before the Experts (the Board) had a shot at it. Thanks, Glenn
  24. I have noticed on several cars I have that the heat won't change while the fan is on. If you turn off the fan will it change?
  25. As my 01 Forester L was warming up last night, I poped open the hood to see if a headlight plug had worked loose (one headlight was out) and noticed a shocking sight!!! There was small lightning bolts going from the top of my #4 spark plug wire to the "distributor". All the other wires were doing their normal thing but the #4 wire was acting like a plasma globe and sounded like a welder. The kids were terrorified and didn't even want to get in the car after seeing this. As it was dark, late and snowing, I didn't have many options but to drive it back out of the mountains. I also figured that it just didn't start because I happend to look at it. I assume it has been going on for some time now? The car was idling a little eratically, while warming up, which is when I noticed this but ran well the rest of the trip. What I tried: I tried re-seating the #4 wire several times to make sure it was pulged in all the way (top and bottom). I did the same thing on the wire next to it. Results: Didn't change anything. What would cause such an electrical show under my hood? Confused, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester L
