  1. they are 15x6 with a +20 offset, so that would make it probably just under 4.5" backspacing....?
  2. you will need a custom driveshaft if going to the 5 speed, as I don't belive the Gen1 brat is the same wheel base as a Gen2, where you can use the gen3 donor driveshaft.... and your Brat would be a '78 model at the earliest. It was introduced in August of '77 as a '78 model. if it has a data plate date earlier than '77 then I would suspect it to be non-original.....
  3. it's still under construction, but with the 27" SSR's on it previous to this build, I only got 12-18 mpg in mixed driving. It's not really something I care about for a trail rig.
  4. if this one ever goes out, I have a friend with a busted one I can play with.... plus a nice 80k one sitting in storage ooh. I orders my shocks Sunday. Doetsch Tech 8403 32" extended, 18.5" compressed.
  5. my dad used to say his 77 DL 2wd wagon always rode like a hay wagon....
  6. the A bar mounts using the engine crossmember bolts, andbolts to the bumper too. I think the glove box "strap" was removed for the AC install... the center vent issue may be fixed by looking at what the prev owner did when he put the switch in. I can show you how the jump seats mount in in a few weeks, when I get the reb brat back hopefully. does a gen2 trip meter knob work?
  7. Chris (BlueJeep) is the guy with the fab skillz I'm still using the ea81 and soob trans (I have a 5 speed in it from a '89 wagon) now that I won't have to beat the engine, I expect to get many more miles out of it.... (only about 5k on the rebuild)
  8. yeah, that seat was always pushed back all the way anyway.... I've got some RX checkered seats to go in it.... I've got a Legacy seat on the drivers side right now, but it was starting to fall apart....
  9. more pics..... Rear driveshaft tunnel Track Bar pics
  10. they are commonly referred to as struts, but they are just coilover shocks.
  11. yeah. the rest of the grill will go back on... I brought the grill home wednesday so I can clearance it a little, as it rubs a bit...
  12. there's a couple of littel wire clips that hold the holder onto the shaft. take them off nicely....
  13. nothin yet. I was trying to reserve some spots at Ledges State Park, but it was too early to reserve there
  14. I love my '09 FXT, but I don't get to drive it much.... though enough to get a ticket
  15. yeah, there'll be some testing as much as I can do... after it's set to go, I need to take it to get new custom exhaust too I'm gonna try and make the Castana outing over the 4th of July if it's not cancelled again..... it'll be plenty dry then, so the AT's will be fine for that.... unfortunately there's no public trails in Iowa, only private land through the 4wd clubs, and our club doesn't really have aplace yet....
  16. more pics... Test fitting bumpstops I rebuilt a good centerlamp function, and it just need to be bolted to the new support bar.... Chris checking tire clearance New lengthened driveshafts, and sammy to soob shaft Fuel cell sunk into the bed inner wheel well cutting for tire clearance oil pan clearance.. or lack of. pan will need a beating or a cut/reweld Steering drag link tacked in spacers for weber all removed and power steering set-up installed hood closed!
  17. got some work done today on it. Chris cut the hole in the bed for the fuel cell and made the support frame for it. we test fit the jump seat frame, and it's only going to be moved forward a couple of inches... decided on what route to go with the roll bar.... I removed all the carb and intake spacers from the weber set-up,and now the hood closes. removed the remote oil sender set-up and put thestock sender back in. replaced the centerlamp assembly, and removed all the battery stuff.... and got the driveshafts today too. we set the alignment, and determined where oil pan needs "adjusted" got the t-stat cover for the power steering set-up on, and the PS pump on. I took a few pics that I'll get posted soon.
  18. and it's just the shape of the wheels because of the curve of the center section. not the offset.
  19. Do you want a roof rack? I've got one ready to go to scrap from an earlier wagon.....
  20. Door / rocker protectors New front bumper / core support. you can also see the new HD tie rod from All Pro, and FJ-80 TREs, and the draglink in progress.
  21. assuming a 7" outside measurement total for the width, the backspacing on these would be 5", which I think is still going to be too much for the FF-1... but maybe not.... it would work on a Gen1....
