  2. have to see what kind of title laws UT has. if he can get title without inspections like Iowa, then it's just time consuming, not that big of a deal really... if they require inspections, then not so much....

  5. I got my sammy speedo cable last week, and I finaly dug out my spare soob cluster... cable is a perfect fit for the cluster, so I'll be able to use my GPS, and create some new numbers for my speedo, and have accurate reasdings since I'll still be streeting this quite a bit....
  6. if you may go to solid in the front int he future, make sure you can adapt and make the frame rails narrower if needed. the soob frame rails are just as wide at the firewall, as a Toyota frame, but the soob rails widen as they get closer to the front, which can cause troubles for bigger tires.... also, I finally got to my storage garage, and got my spare soob cluster out. The sammy speedo cable from the t-case, is a perfect fit for the back of the soob cluster, so you'll be able to calculate your speed, and use the stock speedo...
  7. I think it varies greatly. I'd think $150-$200 depnding ont he buyer/market. My experience has been on the cheap side... I've had 2 sets of the sport mags. the first set I got for $50,and they were pretty nice. moosens has 'em now. the other set I got at an auction way cheap. I ran 'em on a Hatch, but the stems rubbed the calipers... But they are really cool. and are hard to find. as rare as they are, I've seen 3 sets in Iowa..... Now, if you had a set of 5 slot Shelby wide alloys 13x6.5 .... now those are pricey....

  9. well, the flat Gen1's were the only true Jackman's. The Gen2 and Gen3wagon wheels were not made by Jackman....
  10. it looks like 2" spring spacers will get the rake back to normal. there's a bunch of stuff in the back now, and no bumper/winch yet. it's sitting next to a jeep right now on 35's, and it's about a foot or more shorter than the jeep....
  11. the '82 4wd tranny has slightly better gearing (in 3 and 4) for holding speed on the highway. one thing to be wary of though. the smaller '82 clutch and pressure plate, uses a smaller release bearing on the tranny input shaft. the holder is sized differently too, but should interchange between trans..... if you use the larger release bearing witht he smaller pressure plate, the pressure placement on the fingers of the pressure plate is "wrong" and can be difficult to adjust the clutch properly. likewise for the opposite. small release bearing and larger pressure plate, and the bearing just barely hits the tips of the fingers.....
  12. if it had been a stock brat initially, it may have been even further forward, but I had already adjusted the rear of the front wheel wells about 4" to make room for 30's
  13. driveshafts lengthened new driveshaft tunnels in floor power steering set-up (with future SPFI in mind) remove remote oil sender setup and go back to stock brakes all around (including trying to use a hill holder....) locker for rear new front tube bumper with winch mount door/rocker protectors roll bar fuel cell placement and plumbing shocks battery mount (probably an optima mounted in the spare tire tray area, but maybe a bed mounted battery) painting all the bare steel either some spring spacers or lift springs for the rear to get back to the Subaru "rake"

  15. even with the soob in high range, the 4.44 diffs, and the 1.7 high range reduction of the new t-case gear set with only 235's he'll still be turning lots of revs at hiway speed. it's be better gearing that the stock soob in low range.... from the Trail-Gear website for this gear set " "If you're planning to run with stock axle gears, the high-range gearing of this kit is ideal for street use with 33"-35" tires." but stock sammy axle gears are 3.73 I think....

  18. hmmmm. this is a problem.... is that the only way around it with the stock PS pump? I'm adding PS to my Red Brat to run the Toyotoa IFS box, I've got a weber on right now, but am planning on doing the SPFI swap... what about a different t-stat cover? or is the manifold the actual interference point?

  21. yes, and the dual carb ea81 manifold has the carb mounts too close to use a stock weber adapter for each side.... you'd have to make your own adapters that would separate the carbs at least another inch, maybe 1.5". then try and fit the throttlle bar to the twin webers....
  22. That is exactly what a 1980 Brat had when I bought it... I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my 78 for the chatter issue

  24. doubling the t-cases, or just replacing the gears?
  25. which ea81 PS pump? the long bracket style from the ea81 or the one from an ea81T? My long bracket ones don't have any stickers at all. I've had 4-5 of them, and never seen anything. only on the ea82 style I've seen it (and never paid attention to it on the ea81t's I've had.
