  1. 1/2 hour will wipe out the learned settings (not that it matters). It actually may be as short as a minute to reset the light, but i know its not 30 minutes
  2. Its the only way it would see 130mph, if it was pushed. By another car. nipper
  3. Disconnect the battery for ten minutes (I forget that exact time but that should do it) nipper
  4. Sure it can, down hill and hurricane force winds blowing on its tail. nipper

    Justy 4x4?

hehehe Practice makes perfect, but hes practicing the wrong thing. Sounds like he would make a good city boy(mass transit). nipper

    Justy 4x4?

One headgasket, stuff breaks Two headgaskets, it happens. More then that is just an improper install, improper parts. Throwing a rod, well, the justy got pissed, or committed suicide. nipper
  7. Someones been sniffing exhaust fumes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vanagon-Westfalia-1987-Vanagon-Camper-Vanagon-Subaru-conversion-XCLNT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ15291QQihZ002QQitemZ120156591200QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Lots of work done to it but no one is going to pay that price.
  8. SOMEONE BUY IT ALREADY! sheesh i want to hear how good it is (or isnt) nipper
  9. including the float bowl. Also a new fuel fiilter, and a full tuneup. nipper
  10. Slam the trunk hard enough you can break the bulbs. First thing first, check the "inhibitor" swithc (NSS switch to us plain folk). This actually turns on and off the reverse lights. Next check the sockets (all of them) to make sure there is no short or backfeed. Remove one reverse light and see iof the other still comes on. Do the smae thing for the opposit side. Remove all the bulbs except the reverse lights and see if they still come on. If not reinstall each bulb untill they do come on, and that is where to start checking. I think you have a short someplace in the parking light sockets. nipper
  11. Didnt the coyote try this once? beepbeep nipper
  12. Thats something i have observed too. The Outback, USMB, Legacy, Scoobmod, Forester and Imprezza (and related) boards are all freindly. The outback board tends to jump the gun a lot with the "uses the search its been discussed" (when it isnt in the search), but albeit freindly. The SVX board and other car boards tend to be, shall we say, unwelcoming? THe vanagon subaru conversion list can get down right heavy handed (don't even try to discuss brakes there, which should be considered in the conversion) The corvair list is super freindly. Me, i like it here, almost as much as the vair list. nipper

    Justy 4x4?

Well someone always has to be the first nipper
  14. Maybe i am just used to american ones that scream like a tortured squirrel nipper
  15. Well Dang ... Blu threw a rod at 191,000 miles with once a year oil changes from the previous owners. People are stupid. If i was subaru i would have told him to take a hike He will be back in 30,000 miles for another engine, or a tranny, or both. nipper
  16. You can give it very light throttle. The idea is that it should be a smooth motion. If you have TB you will know it in a tight turn, as it does take quite a bit of throttle to keep the car going. nipper
  17. You can also start with the easiest change first. Ceramic front pads. nipper
  18. The only way you could have failed inspection with the modifications is if you exceeded a height standard (Ny has one but its not really enforced, and rarely surpassed), or if the tires stuck out too far from the body. Thats easily fixed. They just wont tires throwing rocks into other peoples cars (being on the receiving end i can agree). Glad you passed nipper
  19. Damn apologize for the bad typing. i am in just such a funk thats where it shows up. nipper
  20. It sounds like you have the wrong radiator for the car. The fans should just bolt on. You should also replace the radiator cap and the hoses if they are spongy. If the cat rattles when you knock it with your hand, the cat is clogged and dead. This will affect performance and cause the car to run hot. YOu prrbly have a shot Booster. Pump the brakes 5-10 times with the car off. With your foot on the brake pedal, start the car. The pedal should go towards the floor. If it doesnt the booster is shot. If it passes you prbbly need a master cylinder. Yes it sounds like your govenor is all gummed up. Its easy enough to replace. yes at the very least fix the brake issue, they are kind of important. nipper
  21. Any used car with over 150K on it can bhlow a HG, a transmission etc etc. Subaru is the ONLY car I would ever consider buying with over 100,000 miles on it. Sure mechanical things can go poof (again it can happen with ANY used car at any time), but other things just keep working. They dont develop many rattles. Trim peices dont fall off. Switches dont fall apart and still feel like new. Body parts dont fall off... etc etc etc I would buy it. nipper
  22. Ok who wants to do my headlights. I can get my cleaned, but it only lasts a few months. I have tired everything. Lets just say polishing is not my forte. nipper
  23. hrmmm either trailer brakes or cruise control? On this i do belevie its a single bulbe system. If it is the break light runs into the turn signal. The turn signal switch controls which light blinks and which light is steady. nipper
