I just took Blue on a 2 hour high speed run down the Jersey Turnpike. Above 63mph, sometimes there is a vibration in the car. Sometimes its heavy, sometimes its light, sometimes its not there at all. Its not from the brakes/tires/steering. Did have blu up to 80mph and the same thing happened. I am thinking its the carrier bearing/u-joint. I havent been able to look under the car due to this wonderful NY august weather (62 degrees and rain). I sort of remeber reading someplace that someone else had the same problem. The allied lift kit doesnt adjust the height of the carrier bearing (which normally shouldnt be an issue). I also remember reading that it didnt take a lot of spacers (someone just used washers) to cure this problem. What I want to know, is this true or is my mind broken? Also does anyone know the size of those bolts? Lastly if I do need a driveshaft (wouldnt be surprised) wher ein the NY/NJ area I can get one. Junk yards here on Long Island are almost gone. nipper

CHange the rear sensor (which can be generic) before replacing a cat. Iv'e seen a cat burned up in one tank of gas because some idiot decided to use a lead additive. I've seen them burn out in as little as 20,000 miles do a fuel injection issue. Subaru's tend to last a good long time after 100,000 miles, if not the life of the car. nipper

Sounds like a bad MC, its sort of typical for one thats on its way out to go bad after changing shoes/pads. First rule out the booster, as they can give the same symptons. Pump the brake pedal 5 times or more with the engine off. With your foot on the brake pedal, start the car. The pedal should move towards the floor. nipper

Reverse gears are straight cut gears, and they dont have synchros on them. This is done for a variety of reasons, but it makes it tough to shift into reverse while going forward. It is normal to use a little more force, get a thunk, or sometimes a slight gear grind on occasion going into reverse. nipper

From 96-99 I am 98% sure they are all the same. Subaru replaces anything older then 1997 1/2 with all new parts because of the design flaw, and i really doubt subaru (being a small mfg) has different parts for differnty years. they may tweak the skin, but mechanicals dont go through major changes. nipper

We are going to let Mtnbob do that experiment :-p . I will go for taller tires eventually. Since I needed two degrees of camber adjustment, I dont know what the springs will do. I am extreemly happy with the ride. Three things Ive noticed... 1- Steering is a little heavier 2- The steering has stiff spots in it, since I dont do autocross not a problem (and may go away) 3- There is a very slight shutter when starting off from a start. I think this is from the carrier bearing/universals as this is the only part of the car that was not affected by the lift. And a huge bonus, so far I am not nervous about people tailgating me now, since I am taller then almost everyone else. nipper

I wonder if they ever calibrate it. This is the second time i've gotten burned by a new fangled digital shiney tester. Some times too much information is a bad thing. nipper -

Yup, that it does. Thats why I ordered the replacmenet, as it actually was a little lower then at idle. nipper
