  1. i struck out with Jamie, she doesnt know what it is :-\ nipper
  2. i just did a quick search, so i didnt look hard. :-p i dont trust wikepedia, i have caught to many errors on it when its come up on the engineering end. nipper
  3. er um, a stock tranny of WHAT! i think an opel on its best day with a tail wind was 60hp and a squirrel made more torque. hehehe nipper
  4. It can be a loose rack, or any bushing in the front suspension. nipper
  5. a case of too much money and not enough ...... There was a jag v-12 put into the nose of a chevy corvair, very clean install, then again the guy wasnt poor either. http://www.corvaircorsa.com/V-12-01.html nipper
  6. *looks over shoulder* your following me again between you and the little voices im not getting any rest .... hehehehe nipper
  7. The low fuel light is independent of the float. 5 gallons may not be enough to kill the light. Remeber this car has at around for a while, so everything may have a film on it. Also the guts of the sender is in the top of the tank. Gas is an excellant solvent. You may need to fill the tank to get the gauge to react/clean itself. Throw in a can of Techron the first time you fill it up, or for anyone with a funky gas gauge. nipper
  8. This can be almost anything in the front end. You need to get under there and start rulling things out one at a time. Start with the tie rod ends, then the balljoints, then the struts. Also look at the bushings and the wheel bearings. I am 90% sure this is not the rack. The rack starts to bind when it goes bad, or leak. Also racks are most obvious when they are cold. nipper
  9. More and more new cars do this, i wouldnt disable it personally. It is done to keep the doors closed in a crash. Maybe you need to destress a bit more, there are much larger issues, oh like trans fat and global warming then your doors locking to keep you from flying out of the car in an accident :-p nipper
  10. Thanks Cougar... Oddly my alarm flashing my parking lights isnt working either. i'll order one tomorrow from Jamie. I can use the scan gauge for everything the dash does. nipper
  11. Smelly, just an FYI for the future. Responses are slow on the weekend, especially in the nice weather. YOu may not get a response sometimes till monday. nipper
  12. Here is a longshot (but with all the over heats i think anything is moot). Old seals and a stuck pcv valve? nipper
  13. i really dont like all the noise in the exhaust. These engines can't take repeated overheating (well any aluminum engine can't). Over heat them enough and the cylinder sleeve can shift, blow a HG, spin a bearing or all of the above. Oil pressure loss can be a spun bearing. Let us know what you find. nipper
  14. Just because you flushed it doesnt mean its no clogged. Alos you need to physically inspect the cooling fins between the AC and the radiator. Its not uncommon for the fins to rot. This sounds like a clogged radiator to me. Under load since the radiator is clogged temp goes up. Typical for a bad radiator. nipper
  15. Midpoint, which is around 185-200 degrees depending on how hot it is. You may have a clogged radiator, air in the system, or a radiator missing cooling fins. nipper
  16. Ok i messed up, and dont know how. I couldnt leave well enough alone ...... nooooooooooo. Well i got my JDM gauges all hooked up. They all work. I didnt like the fact they didnt dim. At first i found a radio tap that made them dim opposit the dash bulbs. That wont do. So I decided to get them off the factory tap and splice them into a dimmed circuit. Well it being high noon i couldnt see if it was working or not. Then it happened. I smelled the magical smoke. The magical smoke had escaped from someplace, and i found the 10 amp fuse blown. I tried backfeeding the lighting circuit, thinking that everything before the break would light up, and everything after wouldnt. NFG. The only thing that worked was the radio dimmed as it should. My backfeed connection blew a fuse, and more magical smoke was detected. I think I fried the illumination control module, or the stalk. I am guessing it was the module. Since its dark i cant properly trouble shoot. I have everything but the dash/heater/selector/heated seats are out. Where is this mystery module and who has one (1997 OBW) if anyone. Yes i undid the gauge wiring, and they arent coming on either. Thanks nipper
