  1. When i read that i couldnt help but thinking, what the hell are we doing nowadays, why has the human race simply slipped into some sort of dilusion were killing people is okay, we hear it all the time, on the news, in a school, should we all carry guns, or should guns be a privileged item, why does it always seem to be the normal people going about their business that gets the short end of the stick. this crap needs to end.
  2. ya what the heck is the world waiting for, catch up, i mean come on now! synthetic oil, gear or motor or whathaveyou, is made from specific base stocks of, you guessed it, OIL!!! they separate oil from the ground by the properties they(manufacturer) want in their oils, then voila, add in a dash of this and a dash of that, BOOM! you have an oil that doesnt degrade under high heat and lasts longer, its basically a sophisticated form of quality control, just lots of it, AMAZING!!!!!!!!
  3. besides subarus version of variable valve timing, and MAYBE some sort of STI version of the legacy line, i would wait. VVT for subarus adds like 3 HP and 3-5 ft. lbs. of torque and better gas mileage, cool huh. thats just about the only things that ive heard about so far, only got like 3-4 months till we see anyway, might as well wait dude. ~Josh~
  4. they are not as aerodynamic as other subies, make more drag, higher coeffient of friction and all that jazz, it might weigh 200-300 lbs. more but thats a strech, mostkly i think it is air resistance doing the damage to your gas tank. ~Josh~
  5. consumerism is killing this country, you buy a brand new washer/dryer/dishwasher, 2 years later you need to buy another new one, consumersim at its finest. ~Josh~
  6. I am in dire need of advice on what pres. plate and clutch combo i should go with on my 86' GL, yes yes, the converted one, i am going to turn the clutch into accrid dust soon, trying to keep right foot under control i swear..... I know barracuda has an aftermarket pres. plate/HD clutch going in his car, i just need to know what factory or aftermarket pieces you guys would recommend for at least 50% better pressure plate holding power, the stock clutch and pres. plate are going to be obliterated. i am using the stock EA82 flywheel 4WD clutch combo that came on the car, cant even see how fast car will go.....sniffle....sniffle. After i get new pres. plate. and clutch i plan on doing a couple passes at the drag for 1/4 mile bragging rights. i know i owe you guys pics, got to get ahold of my stepmoms digi. thanks for the help guys. ~Josh~
  7. so you got a D/R tranny out of a car, which one BTW, and you want to put it into an 89 wagon, i think it should work fine, im pretty sure the 89's came D/R, having said that..........it will bolt up just fine, let the flamming begin! ~Josh~
  8. grab yourself some NGK copper core "V" something or other, there only like $1.50 a piece, and you can get them pretty much anywhere, get new plug wires while your at it. make a point to look at your old plugs to see what they look like, it can tell your many things by what color your plugs are when oyu pull them out. ~Josh~
  9. your friend is correct, as long as the wiring and connectors for your harness knock sensor and the 98' knock sensor are the same, they more than likely are, its just one wire, so if its not, cut the connector off and "hard-wire" it in. ~Josh~
  10. I put my faith in OEM, but if you want to go the cheap route i think some gasket maker stuff, pure silicone, that says its made to go up to like 600 degrees F, it should work, having said that, here come the torches and pitchforks!!!!!!!!! ~Josh~
  11. i say shift when you want to, its your car and your gas money, but i wouldnt "get on it" until motor comes up to operating temp, and a little after that, make sure your oil isnt sludge in the crankcase. redline is a suggestion of the highest point of rpm that a motor can experience without valve float, it is wise to stay under that line. ~Josh~
  12. try 1stsubaru.com and subaruparts.com they sell a litle aftermarket, but mostly OEM stuff on those sites. you can also try perrinperformance.com, cobbtunning.com those will get you started. have at it man. ~Josh~
  13. alot of people would like to turbo their N/A car, problem is the internals arent made for boosted applications, production turbo cars use forged internals, N/A some might but most dont, chepaer that way, but if you build the motor formt h ground up, you can put whatever you want in it, some people have turbo'd their stock N/A motors and have had no problems, some have had serious engine failure, i wouldnt, you might. the EJ22 in the 22B is closed deck design, the top of the cylinder bore near where the block and heads meet is solid metal, with oil and coolant passages of course, the N/A EJ22 in your car has no metal there, and the cylinder, under more boost than normal, flexes and you can breach your headgasket that way, no to mention warp your block and/or heads. now if you got a EJ22T block from an older turbo legacy or something you could build yourself a WRX killer, especially since you have the same suspension possibilities as the WRX, not to mention the lighter weight of your car, but lots of things car go wrong when you mix/match engines and cars, but isnt it so fun. ~Josh~
  14. i use delo 400 multigrade 15w-40 also in my older subie, even though it has a 96 'preza motor in it, i trust delo, and use 5w-50 castrol fully synthetic in my 98 legacy L sedan, dont know if breaks down faster because of the spread or viscosity, but syn. oil uses stric base stocks to make up their oils, every brand has there own little "niche-like" additive they put in to "beat the other guy" but for the most part, you WILL NOT get an un-biased opinion on oil suggestions from us. but if the car is used to a certain type of oil, try not to change it, keep it real, just go syn. blend or fully syn. with same brand to call it safe. ~Josh~
  15. yes it will, go to ispeedusa.com and print out or look at there thingy they have for that conversion, oyu will need motor, entire car harness, engine harness, turbo legacy or wrx engine and tranny crossmembers, the up and down pipes form a wrx, would be good idea to get STI motor and tranny mounts, get the wrx 5 speed, unless you already have a manual tranny, if you have tranny, get it cyro'd, they submerged the tranny shafts in liquid nitrogen for 24 hours to super strengthen the outside of the metal, kinda like forging it, only with cold not heat. there are many other things that you will need but that is a start, try nasioc.com and sign up there. look in the aftermarket forced induction forum about how-to, and do some good olde' fashioned searching to get alot more details than i can give you right now. thats a start right. good luck. ~Josh~
  16. the spring lift will cause more wear and tear on your CV's for sure, a normal CV will last say 60k miles, the raised angle CV will last 40k miles. not actual figures but you get the point, many have posted on this subject, yea it works, but you'll just be going threw CV's faster is all. ~Josh~
  17. go to a fastener store, a place that only sells fasteners, nails, screws, bolts, etc, not home depot, i got some for my flywheel, get one that is hardened if you get one, but if others are runnin without them i say its up to you man. ~Josh~
  18. i say go to autozone and get the codes for free, then tell us the code numbers and one of us can hunt it down and tell you what it means, and if the stealership is F.O.S. thats what i would do, dont pay $500 unless you are SURE that the problem will be fixed. ~Josh~
  19. for the most part, swap motors, hook up harnesses(if the same plugs) and start that thang up. if you have probs, check back here. P.S. get help and a cherry picker, save your back. ~Josh~
  20. D.A.M.N..........i like alot.........this looks like a rock crawling monster.........with a supercharger, gots to give props. ~Josh~
  21. use the right sized socket and 1/2'' drive socket wrench with 3 ft. cheater bar on end of it......it'll move trust me. filter might be in the tranny itself. ~Josh~
  22. 569 CDn is like $375 or some crap in us dollars, you can get KYB-GR2's for your car for like $70 U.S. each, not including shipping from tirerack.com, at least that is how much they are for my 98 legacy sedan, which isnt too different from your car suspension-wise. try it out, could be worth your time. ~Josh~
  23. ive always wanted to rev-kill an engine
  24. the point is, when your on the trail and in the mud, what would YOU rather take out than a roll pin? that is the question. me personally, anything that would get my white butt home. ~Josh~
