want to install legacy engine into loyale
ballitch replied to MagicMan's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
im doing this conversion right now, its not to hard to do as long as you follow others advice like i did/do/am doing/ yeah..........tons of DIY and figurin ahead of you......but soooooooooooo worth it. ~Josh~ -
not to mention lexan looks like crap if you dont keep it spotlessly clean all the time, my girlfriends stepdad has a race corvette with lexan all around, cant see S**T out of any of the windows. granted he races the darn thing with crap hitting it all the time, but i dont think its worth it, maybe wing windows, unless you wanted to get rid of like 125 lbs of unsprung top weight i dont see the point. ~Josh~

sounds like you have air in the system to me, judging how it didnt overheat before hand, if it was a HG leak then it would have shown up before you changed all that stuff, tyr to purge the air out of the system by jacking up the front of the car as high as possible w/o spilling coolant all over the place and burp the system that way, take the radiator cap off while doing this, air needs to escape. anyone else wanna chime in and give him your two lincoln's? ~Josh~

beating someone in a car that costs less than half of what they paid for their car from the factory w/o mods, makes them look stupid in my eyes, you spend 21k on a wrx and throw 8k in mods into it and itll smoke an STI any day of the week, you throw a couple grand into an rx and whoop the crap outta wrx's any day of the week, and you still dont get street cred, even through you earned more than everyone else, sleepers are the next big thing, you watch, soon it will happen, as mass exodus out of the new and back into the old to lay down both rubber....and A$$ KICKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~Josh~

ballitch replied to Do It Sidewayz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
man i wanna rally race now............that would be so kool. it would be awesome if you mounted a video camera in there for rally video you could post for all us wannabe's. ~Josh~ -
clicking...... schliking that isnt any big deal, when the darn thing trys to go different directions and vibrates the S**T outta you, time to change the axle. you can easily go another 12k on that thing, just take it easy on those esses with the throttle. and try to do 3 point turns instead of givin her hell. ~Josh~

Question about front aftermarket speakers
ballitch replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yes it will make the speaker wear out quicker, make sure nothing touches any part of the speaker that moves. if oyu can use the stock speaker covers i say do it, no need to "ask" someone to steal your stereo. ~Josh~ -
ya man take it form me, itds not that hard to make, oyu just have to think a little bit, a set of center transfer punches will help alot, i didnt use them cause i didnt know my dad had them, they will help out to center the holes in the adapter plate, and 1/2 inch is almost 13mm, i used 1/2'' and it worked beautifully. just take you time. if it takes you three times as long as you think it should have, you did it right. ~Josh~

EA82, '88 DL Wagon, & highway performance
ballitch replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that is pretty much the standard for the EA82 or EA81's not alot of power to be expected from them, if you do the spfi swap you will nab about an extra 10 horse and be a little better to drive, but sounds like just plain jane old school slow-bie. ~Josh~ -
Will EJ22 idle w/o throttle position sensor ....
ballitch replied to ballitch's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
oyu have to love PAP man, i looked in there, low and behold there was one 4 wire throttle body left and i un bolted it and all that happy stuff, ran home, unbolted my 3 wire thr. body and went back to PAP and swaped them, but i left the tps mounting screws in the old throttle body, the new 4 wire didnt have a tps on it, dagnabit. all good, thanks for the help everyone, very much appreciated. ~Josh~ -

aight, cool. that makes a things a little bit easier. thanks rallyruss. ~Josh~ -
those retards dont put a darn thing in new motors to "break" them in, its just a ploy for the people that ask, ive been told to change at 1000, 500, and ASAP in new cars or motors, all the engine components are brand new and have to be broken in, that process makes millions of tiny metal shavings inside your oil and causes wear that is not normal, change at anywhere between 500-1000 miles on new motors id say. ~Josh~

that is so cool, subie motors= low center of gravity, and 70 mph top speed, in one word.......DAMN. ~Josh~

ballitch replied to ballitch's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
and by micro switch you mean toggle switch? the 3 wire tps has a wire for closed, full, and idle.....or is it closed, full, and reference? i guess i could always try to gerry-rig something up to where the 3 wire thr. body is moving the 4 wire tps.............i dont know ill try it and find out i guess, hope i dont fry anything. ~Josh~ -
ya half the time they are talking out their A$$!!! grab yourself an engine stand and hoist and pull the motor outta there, do water pump oil, pump seal and all that jazz, maybe even HG's while your at it, it will cost a good amount but it is well worth the extra insurance and peace of mind, not to mention the 100k you'll get out of that motor. but just keep doin research and decide for yourself what you want. ~Josh~

are there any other bigger brakes for older subes besides the 4WD discs? might need some for my larger tires and lift i want on ol' 86'. ~Josh~

using a EA series tranny to move a 3400 pound car could be detrimental to the tranny unless you had it like cryo'd or something, not meant for 140 horses, but what am i saying, im doing the same darn thing. i say go for it because that owuld be awesome to see a newer legacy off road whoppin up roosters and stuff. is your current tranny a stick? if its a auto gonna have to jumper a wire from ecu to tcu to tell ecu its a MT. at least i think so.................but i say go for it man, just make sure oyu got a back up daily driver. ~Josh~

ballitch replied to ballitch's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
awesome rally, thanks for the help sure-nuf when oyu need some info, contact the board. problem is i have both thr. position sensors, only catch is the 91 harness uses a 4 wire sensor which i have, i also have a 3 wire sensor, and a 3 wire throttle body, but no 4 wire throttle body, i know that all the material i look at is inconclusive, except for your info rally. i will try to wire it up soon after a little more R&D.......if oyu have anything you can add to this, anyone, please do so, even if you think im stupid for not checking this earlier on, shoulda seen something like this coming. anywho, thanks guys. ~Josh~
