  1. i just finished putting in outback struts, and im going to tell you that you dont need the sprigns.... my wagon is a 90, and it was really close just getting the struts in... it also stiffened up the ride considerably.......so i would just go with the struts, not the springs.... i gained about two inches or so, havent measured ground clearance yet...
  2. im just wondering if anyone knows of a place to get 2.2 performance cams..... i know of lots of 2.5 cams, but from what i hear they wont fit in the 2.2 heads....... any suggestions? ideas? help me out guys......
  3. im actually working on putting some outback struts and springs in my 90 wagon, looks like you did a good job, so that kinda inspires me to try a little harder.....
  4. i dont think the suspension will go that far. it might, but so far i have had no luck with the ouybac struts and scorpion springs on my legacy..... part of the problem for me is fitment, i need to "modify" a few things for the rears to fit, but, when i get everything figured out, i'll let ya know...
  5. if you can find the adjustable struts from an 85 or an 86 4wd wagon, you can adjust them up an inch, giving you an extra inch of clearance. i dont know about swapping out springs... but yes, if you did go too far without correcting the strut position, since there is no camber adjustment, you would run into camber problems.
  6. i know that the outback has a factory body lift on it, but is it possible to get the blocks they use seperately? or is it all just part of the car when they make it?
  7. im not sure, but if it works let me know, thinking of trying a 2.5 intake on my wagon...
  8. i just thought it would be fun...... maybe if i can find a donor car and some place to store it all, i might try it....... could be lots-o-fun..... :brow:
  9. if i were to run 2.5 heads on the 2.2 motor, can i run a more agressive cam for the 2.5?
  10. if you want the 5mt, the one from the rs being hydraulic, the setup is different, but all the parts will bolt right up... if you want cable, you need a tranny from that of a 2.2 variety.......
  11. try running the 2.5 intake manifold on the 2.2, i believe its bigger anyway.... might breath better....
  12. has anyone ever thought of making a mid rear subaru???? i figured a hatch would be an excelent donor car, then from there either go with an ej22, or maybe an er27 with a fwd tranny....... it would be loads of fun, but a little difficult to do unless you used an auto....... just figured id throw the thought out to the board.....
  13. 4.44 is the lowest subaru has ever made......
  14. i would look into turbo... being small and 4wd you wont have too many problems handling the course, but with a turbo you would eat the competition as well
  15. i couldnt even get my old beast to hit 70 on the highway........ that was definatley a "right lane" cruiser..
  16. hey shawn, theres actually a guy at my mechanics shop who is currently putting the legacy turbo motor in his vanagon, looks kind interesting, definatley a lot of cut and weld involved, but its getting there, slowly but surely...... just thought you might want to know
  17. im looking into a msd ignition, but dont know which one to get...... i would like that rev limit adjustability, but thats about the only thing i really need...... anyone know which model i need?
  18. is there any difference in the valves from a 2.2 to that of a 2.5 variety??? as in duration time? lift? things like that..... sohc, not dohc
  19. i believe that the 2.5 has hydraulic lifters.... im not sure if you can adjust them... i could be wrong though..
  20. subarus use an ecu controlled boost controller, so if you want more boost, you need to get your ecu reflashed or get on from a different car, like the sti.... the reason your check engine light turned on is because you have two different boost controllers trying for two different amounts of boost...... if you take the manual boost controller off, you will be fine....... your lights wont come back on....... or you could stick with what you've got, and just reset you ecu every so many hours.......
  21. i bet that you could fit 27's under your forester, if i can make em fit, and so can all sorts of other guys, no problem.... an you can get them in very aggressive tread patterns
  22. although sometimes its even better if u bring the car with you... when i bought my 27 inch muds and brought the old wagon in to have the shop put em on, they laughed, then said ok... put em on they fit, no rub, and then the jaws dropped... i drove off happy... so sometimes it works out...... anyway with a forester you should have no problems...
  23. fun cars. the swap would include a pedal cluster, so you might have to take the dash apart to do so, or you could try to find a bottom hinge aftermarket clutch pedal.... either or...... definately alot more fun with a manual........
  24. thanks for the info guys, i think im gonna go ahed and get that midpipe i found....
