Cant find rims to save my life. **FOUND EM!**
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
I will be drilling the rims. That way I can still use my 13's as street tires for long trips. I will have a LSD and a Weber.... both of which are sitting in the garage as we speak, just waiting. And yes, the LSD has already been converted -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
Well, i just finalized the deal and paid for my rims!! $125 to have four Chevy Luv rims sent to me from Medford Oregon. They are identical to this style here: It will be a few weeks before I can afford the tires for them... but it will give me time to drill them and paint them. I cant wait!!! -Brian -

sudden rise in engine temp when in boost.
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Tosh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Probably... or maybe its just a reaction from the increase in intake temps. Do you have an intercooler on your setup? -Brian -
Offroad Bumper Group Buy AA
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Shadyirishmen's topic in Products for your Subaru
Hey dude, be happy you got a refund. I know members who have done buisness and have yet to see product or cash in the last year or so. Its gonna suck to lose AA as a Subaru Vendor. -Brian -
There's no line that controls the diaphram. It uses vacuum thats supplied from the side of the carb. Where the diaphram mounts, there's a port... and it gets its vacuum from there. There is a gasket between the carb and diaphram, and if that is leaking you may experience problems like this. The mechanical lever may also be sticking. Might wanna try some penetrating lube and work it in the diaphram to see if that helps. I'd try that 1st. -Brian

Awesome, make sure to keep us up to date on your progress. We also have an off-road forum dedicated to wheelin subes! Much to be learned in there. -Brian

TheSubaruJunkie replied to suberdave's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
You are a madman Dave!!! How are you gonna decide what to bring to the WCSS? -Brian -
ShawnW was talking about offering wire kits for EJ conversions. When the EA82T blows up in my RX again, im definatly gonna look for a running EJ22 to put in it. -Brian

Things are getting hot
TheSubaruJunkie replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Chances are its 2 row. Im not sure how to tell but I dont think Subaru ever came with 1 row radiators. When i installed an intercooler on my RX, i noticed a huge difference in my engine temps. I recommend the Saab 900 Intercooler as the inlet & outlet are 2.38" which is the same diametere as your intake manifold. If you need some plumbing idea's, just check out my gallery here: http://gallery.usmb.net/album19 -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to soobmater's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Remember to trim those fenders when you lift it... before you destroy them That color is a famous subaru color, and i love the lower door panels. So... a Lifted EA82 and now a EA81 thats gonna get lifted?? What is it you do for a living again :-p -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to 75subie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
With a nickname like yours, im sure you'll always be welcome in this forum And look at me, i havent had a Gen1 for years... but i still post in here. -Brian -
Mike thats a great idea. The extension cords Ive been workin with at work have 3 wires in them... +/- & ground. That would be perfect for wiring that way the insulation will keep the wiring all neet and tidy. I think i may do that, there just happens to be a 50' extension cord at work we are no longer able to use And there are 4 rows of volvo's in the junkyard. Do you have a location where I can find these relays? -Brian

Cant find rims to save my life. **FOUND EM!**
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Off Road
I did the alloy thing on my last rig. I had to wheel all cautious like cause I was always affraid I'd come down on a rock and shatter a rim. This hatch will be seeing alot more granite/rock and I will be wheelin it like it was stolen! I would rather bend a rim than break a rim. I will have alloys for my street tires tho. But thats a whole 'nother paycheck in a whole 'nother month. -Brian -

Phiz... i wanna use 14" to keep the wieght down, and cause I already have three useable 205/75R14 tires I will be using as spares. I already have my tires picked out... im going with 205/75R14 Kumho Venture MT's. They dont offer 27" in R15 for the kumho. Yes, you can find 27" at's for R15 but MT's for R15 are harder to find. Unless you go with Swampers or something... which im not willing to do. I posted a thread on LuvTruck.com and got a few replies. I really like the style of the Chevy Luv 14" rims, hopefully I can end up with a set soon. -Brian -

the rim pictured above came on Dodge D50's and Mitsubishi Mighty max. I think CHevy Luv also had 14" 6lugs. -brian -
More rear disc swap questions
TheSubaruJunkie replied to mellow65's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just learn how to brake properly. Dont slam on your brakes and you'll be fine. Give yourself 2 car lengths between you and the car in front of you. and on ice & snow, slow down. Ive coverted 3 subarus of mine. Ive never had any problems at all. Ive done some hard brake tests after replacing pads, and Ive never felt my rear end come out from me. Brakes in a straight line every time. If your really anal about things, get the valve and be done with it. Like ken sais, make sure you bleed your brakes real well. -Brian -
Yeah i used to just hard wire my lights too. I did that to my old 100watt spotties and the switch got REAL warm and the insulation on the backside started to bubble. The new lights i bought are 130watt so I know i'll wanna be using a relay for those. I got some other 55watt lights I think will be safe. Maybe i'll look around on ebay and see what comes up. -Brian
