  1. Well at least you know its in good hands, and I'm sure he'd still let you drive it if you asked nicely. I think you got the better end of the deal -Brian
  2. The VF11 shouldnt bother your smog. Just make sure you keep the O2 sensor and everything. I'm wondering if my intake will bolt to a VF11 and need to configure my intercooler. -Brian
  3. Caleb is right. Only 83 and 84 model years got turbo wagons and brats. All Automatic 4WD. I would say they are rare, rust free are even rarer. -Brian
  4. Lets put it this way, if the speedo wasnt broken and you were doing 70 in 2nd... your tach would probably be in the 7000-8000 range. Was it? -Brian
  5. WOAH!!!! Eli!! Its a EA82, its not your Legacy. You cant be doing 55mph in 1st gear bro. They arent that fast. So dont get your hopes up. It is, however, faster than your brat -Brian
  6. Those 3rd eyes are nice. Your supposed to use it when you want to pass somebody, they are reffered to as Passing Lamps in the manual. The show will be packed with old subarus, you should fit right in! -Brian
  7. Dave my numbers the same I think im going to worry less about the lean mixture and do something about my turbo. Its blowing oil real bad and needs to be replaced. -Brian
  8. $50! for a pressure test? The shop i took my heads to said they would test them both for $30 and if they failed wouldnt work on them. Luckily they passed and i had them rebuilt. They worked great afterward, but Rob is right... 98% chance the heads are fine. just need to be milled. -Brian
  9. I dont know how to get a colder plug. I use only NGK's and its hard enough getting them these days from the newbs at the auto store, i dont want to confuse them by asking for a colder plug. I was running at 21 degree's but I find it performs better alittle higher. And yes, the temps are climbing above 90 degree's... im suprised its not in the 100's yet. -Brian
  10. 93 octane... there isnt any around here. -Brian
  11. Expect your rear end to push your front end through turns. Would probably create alot of understeer until you broke the rear tires loose to create oversteer. -Brian
  12. My old Brat ALWAYS wanted to get sideways when I had it in RWD mode. I broke one front CV and re-installed the outer cup. Low Range was fun, but not as much fun as RWD High on a wet freeway on-ramp -Brian
  13. Gotchya, thanks guys. The car actually smells to be running alittle rich. But the plugs say otherwise. The engine temps are always low. The needle never goes up more than 1/3 on the temp gauge. Im running my timing at aprox. 25-27 degree's with 91 octane run all the time. 5-7psi boost. I changed the plugs because I got new wires. I wanted a clean slate. I changed the disty cap and rotor a couple weeks ago as well. I guess Im just happy they ALL look the same, and not one fouled while the rest clean. -Brian
  14. Ive never used sea foam in my oil. Ive used Marvels Mystery Oil, added to my oil... and also poured into the carb. MMO works just as well, but the SeaFoam looks alittle too thin to be adding to oil. Maybe just before an oil change, to help break up any build up deposits. -Brian
  15. Since I got my new 8mm magnecor wires (finally) I figured I'd install the box of plugs Ive been waiting on. So, i pulled the 4 old ones and this is what I found: These 4 plugs were put in about 4 months ago. They have less than 3,000 miles on them but were brand new when installed. Heres some other closeups. -Brian
  16. Yup. Doesnt hurt to add alittle to the gas tank either. -Brian p.s. Watch out for all the smoke.
  17. Looks pretty simple i guess. I hope the VF11 works out that smoothly. -Brian
  18. I know brad is thinking about using one, and I heard there is a board member with one already on his EA82T. I found a deal on one and I like the idea of it being smaller than the TD04. I heard the VF11 is a near bolton to the stock EA82T up-pipe. Thats pretty much all im conserned with right now. Also, i was thinking of rebuilding the turbo I got. Would anyone know where to find a rebuild kit for the VF11? -Brian
  19. Are all you guys running stock up-pipes with your TD04's? Im thinking of going with VF11 cause I read that they are a near fit for the flange on the stock EA82T Up Pipe. -Brian
  20. Its been a long time. The old page listed my turbo legacy, which I sold over 6 months ago. So now i have the page showcasing the RX. I will try to update it when I complete tasks on the RX, and of course there will always been new pictures in my gallery. The webpage address, for those who may have forgotten: http://www.subaru4wd.net -Brian
  21. Those are some fairly common wheels. I believe they are made by Cal Master or Mastier. I know of a USMB member who has 8 of them, all chrome. You can find them in black as well. -Brian
  22. Here is another slanted radio console I had. I put this one in my old '83 Wagon. One problem i always had with my slanted consoles were the angle they keep the CD Player. With the stereo in that picture, i could hardly ever read the text on the screen. If your stereo has a contrast control then you should be able to adjust that. With the stereo in my Brat, it stopped working after a while. Just the CD mechanism and I think it was because of the angle I had it mounted. Or maybe the fact it was a cheap stereo Either way, its the only real practical way to mount a DIN size deck in any EA81. -Brian
  23. I think the VF11 will work alittle better than the TD04. I cant wait to get mine swapped over, just need to find an exhaust shop... oh, and about $400. -Brian
