And im hardly ready to go! Ive been slacking this whole time and the RX still needs alittle work. I guess im going to the exhaust shop tuesday for a new exhaust, wouldnt hurt to have an alignment done. I was planning on bringing some parts of my wagon to sell, but it doesnt look like that will happen. I will have a couple goodies for the swap meet. This Tuesday & Wednesday will be my last weekend before I leave for the show. July 13th we hit the road and the RX still needs a new turbo and brakes. Anyone else in a state of panic like me? -Brian

use the subaru stuff but do a 6" lift and a toyota transfercase. Modify the 2nd transfercase to run the output shafts backwards. Then a front and rear LSD should do the trick. -Brian

pitch stop too short with lift
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Blue84Hatch's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was reffering to the wrong part. Are you speaking about the bar mounted to the engine to the firewall? My lift came with a bracket that raised the mouting surface on the engine side 3" so the pitch stop could still function correctly. -Brian -

A picture would help. But Rob is right, look for something EJ?? or EA?? stamped on the front of the block somewhere. EA81=1.8 liter OHV EA82=1.8 liter OHC EJ20= 2.0 liter OHC EJ22= 2.2 liter OHC If its carburated chances are it is a EA81 or EA82. But its not impossible to carburate a EJ20. -Brian -

Well at least you know its in good hands, and I'm sure he'd still let you drive it if you asked nicely. I think you got the better end of the deal -Brian -
how to for td04 and a spider manifold on ea82t?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to eddygordouk's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
The VF11 shouldnt bother your smog. Just make sure you keep the O2 sensor and everything. I'm wondering if my intake will bolt to a VF11 and need to configure my intercooler. -Brian -
Caleb is right. Only 83 and 84 model years got turbo wagons and brats. All Automatic 4WD. I would say they are rare, rust free are even rarer. -Brian

Is the RX really that fast?!!!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Lets put it this way, if the speedo wasnt broken and you were doing 70 in 2nd... your tach would probably be in the 7000-8000 range. Was it? -Brian -

WOAH!!!! Eli!! Its a EA82, its not your Legacy. You cant be doing 55mph in 1st gear bro. They arent that fast. So dont get your hopes up. It is, however, faster than your brat -Brian -
pros and cons of rebuilt head?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to David C's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
$50! for a pressure test? The shop i took my heads to said they would test them both for $30 and if they failed wouldnt work on them. Luckily they passed and i had them rebuilt. They worked great afterward, but Rob is right... 98% chance the heads are fine. just need to be milled. -Brian -
D/R RWD = 8 Forward Gears & 2 Reverse

LSD would be the best option. -Brian -
I dont know how to get a colder plug. I use only NGK's and its hard enough getting them these days from the newbs at the auto store, i dont want to confuse them by asking for a colder plug. I was running at 21 degree's but I find it performs better alittle higher. And yes, the temps are climbing above 90 degree's... im suprised its not in the 100's yet. -Brian

Expect your rear end to push your front end through turns. Would probably create alot of understeer until you broke the rear tires loose to create oversteer. -Brian -

My old Brat ALWAYS wanted to get sideways when I had it in RWD mode. I broke one front CV and re-installed the outer cup. Low Range was fun, but not as much fun as RWD High on a wet freeway on-ramp -Brian -
Gotchya, thanks guys. The car actually smells to be running alittle rich. But the plugs say otherwise. The engine temps are always low. The needle never goes up more than 1/3 on the temp gauge. Im running my timing at aprox. 25-27 degree's with 91 octane run all the time. 5-7psi boost. I changed the plugs because I got new wires. I wanted a clean slate. I changed the disty cap and rotor a couple weeks ago as well. I guess Im just happy they ALL look the same, and not one fouled while the rest clean. -Brian

SeaFoam use.......
TheSubaruJunkie replied to jxavierf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ive never used sea foam in my oil. Ive used Marvels Mystery Oil, added to my oil... and also poured into the carb. MMO works just as well, but the SeaFoam looks alittle too thin to be adding to oil. Maybe just before an oil change, to help break up any build up deposits. -Brian -
Since I got my new 8mm magnecor wires (finally) I figured I'd install the box of plugs Ive been waiting on. So, i pulled the 4 old ones and this is what I found: These 4 plugs were put in about 4 months ago. They have less than 3,000 miles on them but were brand new when installed. Heres some other closeups. -Brian
