  1. I grew up in Alaska, and that is when I owned the Automatic EA82. The day after I bought it we got our 1st snow fall. Thats when I found out the 4WD (pushbutton) did not work. The car had enough power to pull its weight through the snow. But trying to gun it off the line was pointless. The car was gutless in comparison to the 4spd and 5spd's ive owned. Needless to say, my EA82 Auto was a piece of crap. Bought it for $500, sold it for $1k and bought a Brat with the money. Since your car will only have 25k on the ticker I wouldnt worry much about it. You can change the fluids to help the tranny survive longer if your really that worried about it. -Brian
  2. Its a loyale wet, so 99% chance its a 3spd auto. 4EAT's came in GL10 Turbos. -Brian
  3. Not sure about their failure. out of the 13 Subaru's ive owned, only one was an automatic (EA82, 3spd auto). I owned the car for 3 weeks before I sold it. I couldnt stand the auto.... it was just too sluggish. I dont ever plan on buying another Automatic subaru. Unless its a EA81 Turbo (as those ONLY came autos & SVX's). -Brian
  4. You wont have any torque bind unless you drive in 4WD on pavement while trying to make a U turn. The Automatic tranny's SUCK!! Dont expect to have any fun driving, and watch as the geo's, and hybrid's beat you off the line. -Brian
  5. Good luck adapting the steering extension & the strut tops. Do those even come in an "ebay kit" and where are these kits? ive never seen one. Its better to just pay for a designed kit that will bolt in, unless you'd like to spend months wreckin your brain trying to figure out how to get your camber back to stock spec's. -Brian
  6. Ok, its tomorrow. Anyone else going? -Brian
  7. There are hydrolic lifters and solid lifters. I believe the hydrolic lifters have larger valves. If you change the head, you'll need to change your pushrods as well. Not sure how to tell the diffefence between the 2. I think in 83, 4speed 4WD had solid lifters. -brian
  8. Cool!! Those look really nice and will sound even better. You'll like the speakers in the dash rather than in the door. In the dash the speakers will project the sound toward your ears, instead of toward your knees. And yeah, the drivers side is easier than the passenger side. I almost busted my glove box out of anger when trying to remove my passneger side speaker once. -Brian
  9. If you plan on buying an Automatic EA82, your in for a world of hurt. The Auto Trannies on the EA82 line are HORRIBLE and rob probably 60% of the engines power before the HP reaches the wheels. Sucks about your knees, but i'd still look for a 5spd... unless you want to have no fun driving. -Brian
  10. if its a 5spd then dump the clutch in 2WD. Feel the tires break loose and peel out? Now try it in 4WD. If it does the same thing, the 4WD dont work. -Brian
  11. Rule of thumb: Make sure each tire has at least 10% slip available. Meaning, only use 4WD on gravel, dirt, mud, snow or ice. Anywhere your tires have a chance to slip. NO PAVEMENT!!!! -Brian

  13. Will... you will probably blow a tranny. -Brian
  14. Thanks Josh... now we got double posts -Brian
  15. Probably the only thing that will bolt on are the rear brakes. Almost everything else is different. Engine, Tranny, Suspension... all different. The wheels and tires will work however. -Brian
  16. Yup, inspect your timing or use a higher grade fuel. -Brian
  17. I pay $70 a month just for my internet. Well, i do get basic cable, but you cant even call it cable. I have all the broadcast networks (fox, nbc etc.) plus about 4 Home Shopping channels, 7 indipendant local channels and 5 channels in languages other than english. But Im also paying extra for a "home network" package which increases my download speed to 4mbit and upload to 512kbit. Our modem is built into a wireless 4 port router, and Im running 3 computers all day and 1 on & off. When I move im going fiber optics. I believe the package is alittle under $90 and includes phone, tv (150+ channels) & 10mbit internet. DSL here is about $40/mo but you need to have a local telephone line (something I do not wish to have) and that is another $30 or so a month. And that is only for 1mbit download and 128kbit upload (yick). Plus DSL quality is dependant on the distance of your home and the integrity of the local phone network. Something Im not willing to deal with. Comcast came out and ran new coax from the box out front when they installed my modem 2 years ago. Only problems I have are when I dont pay my bill -Brian
  18. Bring like... $50 or $60 There will be a swap meet from what i understand, so bring even more cash if you wanna buy some toys. Im reserving $300 for the trip (but thats for 3 days of total travel and 6 days of eating) -Brian
  19. The reason the car was free -Brian
  20. I have caleb on my contact list and he is probably getting mad at me for IM'ing him every time I post on the OT. DSL sucks. Have you had any static on your home phone recently? If your far from the central office or anything has tampered with your lines... it could cause problems with the connecting of your DSL modem. Replacing it should help you pinpoint the problem. I would suggest running a line directly from your Telephone Box to wherever the modem will be sitting. Make sure the connections in your phone box havent gotten wet or corroded, and that will ensure the modem has the cleanest signal to the outside world. DSL is very picky in the way it communicates and shares your phone line. Cable internet is a different subject, and if you can get it in the area i'd suggest it. I pay more for cable than I would DSL, but Im also on more with 0 interuptions (and its faster). Next upgrade will be to fiber. Phone/TV & 10mbit internet through the same pipe, all digital and will end up being cheaper in the long run. -Brian
  21. Looks like the same kit im running in my RX. -Brian
  22. I mounted the rims today and they dont seem to stick out as far as my 15" rims did. Also, im running 185/70 as opposed to the 195/50's i used to run. I will drop the rear end when i find new rear springs. Now that I have these front struts in, i have KYB GR2's on all 4 corners. The rear might stick up high but its real stiff back there and I like that -Brian
  23. Kinda like these. The portion of the rim that mounts to the hub is as thick as all of my studs. these lugs go into the rim, and secure the rim to the hub. They use washers as well, and are 21mm as opposed to 19mm subaru lugs. I was also thinking of painting the rims white to match the car, but im liking the alloy. -Brian
  24. Dont got any pix, let me look up some online and find the type. -Brian
