  1. oh no Tachometer, it is a simple system that can easily be replaced with coilovers Take the opportunity this weekend to get everything 1/2 off -Brian
  2. If I go with the Legacy hub, will i need to use Legacy Tie Rod ends? Or will the XT6 ones still do? And also, are Legacy CV joints the same length as EA82 CV's? Anyone know for sure? The guys on Legacy Central say Legacy L & Legacy Turbo CV's are the same... but FWD Legacy CV's are beefier. Just not positive if the spline count and lengths are the same. -Brian
  3. I say you find a cheap EA81 to drive around as your daily driver. Then take the spare cash and dump it into the RX. You'll have a very decent daily driver (EA81's are bulletproof) and a nice racecar $2000 can go along way for a RX. -Brian
  4. I had a can of White Lythium Grease in a spray can. Maybe that would work alittle better than PB. It was definatly alot thicker, but not near as thick as real grease. -Brian
  5. Hehehe... i dont like my dremel near as much as I like my Subaru's Plus, ive only had 1 dremel, ive had 11 Subarus. Just wait till im done with my hood scoop idea I'll probably have to use the fiberglass for that. -Brian
  6. Fiberglass was another option, but i didnt know about it till after I purchased the bondo and the mesh to fill the gaps. I will paint the center support black when the grill is done. Right now its only about 95% complete. I need to do alittle more bondo work and alot more sanding, then paint the grill. I dont think i want to put wire mesh behind the grill, but I will definatly be painting that center support black to hide it alittle. NKX your grill looks nice, but we have two different grills. My grill originally started as a 3dr coupe grill, your grill is a EA82 wagon grill. Still, good job I will be getting a SVX Hood emblem to replace my grill emblem. I will mount it to the hood, in the center in the very front... kinda like how the SVX has it. -Brian
  7. Okay, i couldnt resist. I had to get some of the grill on the car -Brian
  8. Found a spare grill in the junkyard and just couldnt resist. As soon as i got it home i started with the dremel. Took a few hours to just prep the grill, then i started with the bondo. What a mess I made, but enough sand paper and a few choice dremel bits made easy work of it. Its still not finished, there are some rough spots, but the Bondo and sandpaper gave me a headache, so i'll finish up tomorrow. For now... pix! Soon i'll have one of the grill on the car. -Brian
  9. Heard it in the audio. Sounded like a promising young man, its sad to hear about his death in such a way. Also sounds like he shoulda been a USMB member. Has anyone checked the member database for a Greg Rund? -Brian
  10. Your going to the wrong one then. I'll be in Rancho Cordova saturday morning. They have plenty of Subaru's. A few EA81's, EA82's and alot of Legacy's. I call the GR2's tho I'll be getting those and a hood. -Brian
  11. Wrong. Turbo RWD will have no ill effects. Unless your car is FT4WD, then you'd have to lock the center diff. I wouldnt recomend that. If your turbo has a FWD/4WD selector, you should be just fine in RWD. I noticed an increase in MPG. Like i said, it went up to 28mpg from around 20-22mpg. That was in the brat. -Brian
  12. I will get the brakes from the guy buying my TLeg brakes. So I will have all legacy front end (except the lower control arms) and then XT6 rear brake stuff. Now to find some rear calipers that have ebrake stuff on it that will fit XT6 backing plates. -Brian
  13. Dont have figures, but i averaged 28mpg and i kid you not. Almost as good as the 40mpg I got when i followed Jared from Oregon to Cali (tail gated and made excellent milage). -Brian
  14. This weekend, the 1st & 2nd its half price weekend for PickNPull. Check www.pickandpull.com for locations nearest you. Just thought i'd share the news -Brian
  15. Gotchya. Wonder if TLeg knuckles are the same as Legacy. I'll have to talk to some people over at legacycentral, but it seems the majority of my parts will be comming from the legacy then. I'll have to find a way to use standard Legacy brakes, as the TLeg are larger and already sold. Wish i had a spare EA82 to work with, maybe I'll goto the junkyard and start matching parts. -Brian
  16. Oh yeah.. the ebrake will be solved with upgrade #2. I gotta find out which nissan rear calipers will bolt on, then i'll move the ebrake to the rear. So maybe I will use the legacy calipers, that will solve one problem for down the road. Its all comming together now... sawwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! And I gather from the thread that the legacy CV's will work in place of the XT6 CV's? Is that correct? If so, i have a pair of Legacy Turbo CV's i'll have left behind from my TLeg after its dismantled. -Brian
  17. Tex... YOU DA MAN! Answered pretty much all the questions I had. I think i will get the entire setup from that legacy then. I guess that leaves me to find a XT6 for the rear brakes, front calipers & lower control arms... everything else can come from the legacy right? That makes perfect sence, and i have just the bit to do it with. Why cant the Legacy Caliper be used? -Brian
  18. My Brat in RWD was ALOT of fun in the rain. Expecially taking on-ramps at 40mph A few i was able to merge onto the freeway completly sideways. -Brian
  19. Ive been to longview... the place is a dump. I dont blame other people for not wanting to live there. If i were you, i'd move -Brian
  20. WTF is a GC8??? Can we use model years please? Bacca... so are you saying the legacy GR2's wont bolt to the XT6's steering knuckle?? -Brian
  21. Ive driven in RWD alot. It changes the characteristics of the car alittle, you can definatly tell its not FWD anymore. Ive also been forced to drive from Redding California to Albany Oregon in RWD and also from Medford Oregon to Sacramento California in RWD and I noticed an increase in my MPG. -Brian
  22. if your friends car is at 12-13 psi then yes... there's probably a leak somewhere. -Brian
  23. So... im sitting here... pondering the 5lug swap that is about to take place. Ive gathered information from here and there (thanks Tex) and still have a couple questions. Strut Tops... do XT6 tops bolt in? Or will i need to swap over my EA82T strut tops? No worries if I do, only reason I ask is cause of what im planning to do.... There's a 91 Legacy in the junkyard with a set of KYB GR2's on it. I want to swipe the GR2's to use in my swap. Im not 100% if the strut tops will swap over to the GR2's. I can only hope so (unless Legacy Strut tops will work... anybody?? anybody???) So... Now that we have the struts out of the way... i'll need springs. I dont really feel like using Legacy springs cause the legacy is alot larger than the RX, and im sure the spring rates will be all messed up. I have a friend who has a set of 2002 WRX Springs, and I was thinking of using them. They're from a WRX Sedan, but not 100% sure if they'll work with the strut tops i am forced to use. Also, if someone could kinda educate me on spring rates... maybe what the RX already has in comparison to the WRX, or suggest springs that would work better? My main concern is really ride height, i want the car to sit about 1"-2" lower than it already is. Other than that, i believe i have everything I need lined up. Just to find a XT6 to strip and im on my way -Brian
