Was chatting with Jibs and Jeremy (subieman) and they convinced me to drive up to their place to do some playing in the snow. 2 hours later I was there We tried to get Jibs white Brat out of his driveway, but there was a jeep in the way that wouldnt start. So he drove with me. Jeremy and his girlfriend took his Wagon. The camera I got is a Sony DSC-P50. Its a 2.1MegaPixel digital camera. I got it off of ebay for $85, which is good since the MSRP Brand new is $499 and current prices new is $190. It was used of course, and the main reason I wanted to get a sony was cause my PDA is sony, and I already have a 128MB Memory Stick to use. Its cool, cause I can snap a photo, move the stick to my PDA to get a better view and edit the photo if needed. -Brian

It is a gem of an engine, with ALLLLOT of potential. Im sure in the right hands, it will be a killer car. Just not these hands. Yes im sure, the RX is a much more simple car to work on and modify.... and i get a sence of more accomplishment when I "improve" my RX. What can I say? Im an old skool kinda guy. -Brian

I was supposed to go today, but i stayed home cause I didnt want to get stranded up there. Im also getting broke, and payday is another week and a half away. Spending $30 on gas right now doesnt seem as feasable as it did last week. -Brian

Talk with Mudrat in Eugene about getting an adapter made for your tranny. You will want to have a whole new exhaust made up, would be the best way to do it. If your keeping your RX Tranny, the LSD in the RX wont need to be changed. Your RX Tranny is 3.7 whereas a VLSD from a Legacy is 3.9. -Brian

im not much for the sleeper look. the center support is painted black, but its gloss black so its still real visable. im going to use either wire mesh or bug screen behind the grill to hide all that. -brian

Lets try some silver 15" pugs for now. Then maybe some 15" rota Subzero's after the XT6 swap. -Brian

You can adapt the Tranny to fit the EJ22. The main question is... will the RX Tranny handle the power the EJ22T is capable of putting out? -Brian

hahahaha... your the 6th person in a matter of minutes to comment on the rims. The rims come when the Legacy sells. I have a guy who is interested in the Legacy and will be putting a down payment on it in a week or so... when that happens I can order my new tires and go get my new rims. -Brian

No subie will destroy a 6lug rim. 6 lug rims are designed for 3/4 ton pickups... our subies wont stress them that much.... even with 2 more holes drilled into them. -Brian

IF all your traveling are FS roads, you have nothing to worry about. Focus more on carry'n spare parts, cause there are parts that will fail, but are near impossible to make stronger. Things that come to mind: Alternator Belts (alt & A/C if equiped) Front CV Shaft. Or a broken front shaft to install and limp home in RWD. Chain and/or strap to get towed out (you'll always want to "see whats that way") Also, things that are very handy to have in the brat are WD40, Carb cleaner, rags and of course... plenty of spare oil. Other than that, your brat should tackle almost anything you throw at it. We add lifts to add larger tires, not to make our suspension stronger. The stock suspension is strong enough. The Front CV's are the weakest point and there's not much you can do other than replace them. -Brian

Russ... I may need your help. My friend who wants my EJ22T is set to believe he cannot use the Canadian EJ22T in my car since its not a CA engine. What do we need to do to get around this? From what I understand, the only difference between the CA EJ22T and a 49 State EJ22T is an extra ground to the ECU. I want to see this EJ22T in my friends car... also, would it being a '92 Engine going into a '91 car cause more red tape trouble? -Brian

Not just the powerband, but the high maitenance. Off-road engines are put to alot of abuse. Any EA81 will withstand the abuse, but with a turbo there are more moving parts, forced induction and alot more things to go wrong. -Brian

There should be plenty of snow left for the trip. I have a co-worker who lives there, he said he coudnt drive up Sly Park to the lake cause there was so much snow. Local news crew's have been broadcasting from P.Pines talking about how they're expecting to get dumped on. -Brian

I wouldnt suggest a turbo for off-road use. But if you have access to a EA81T you might want to use the EA81T heads with the MPFI system, and use a carbed block with increased compression. The MPFI will give you a much larger advantage for off-roading over a carb, but a turbo isnt always the right answer. -Brian

There's alot of snow out there... and Im hoping to find some in Pollock pines. I'll be making a trip up either Wednesday or Thursday and dont like traveling alone. Will need a support vehicle incase someone needs to be pulled out. Here's an idea of where i'm planning on going: -Brian

If your going to go with a 8" lift, and turning 30" tires, you might want to have a divorced T-Case installed too. Not sure how tough the center diff on a forester AWD is, maybe look into having that welded shut to power the t-case better. The 1st guy who comes to mind would be Mudrat, for fabrication... unless you have the know-how. I also wouldnt recommend Alloy rims. You might want to check into some cheap steel rims which you can get in 15's too. -Brian

What i used was the LED that subaru put in the left side of the dashboard. It originally lit up the letters for my hazard button and the dial to control the dash lights. I used that light to light up my boost gauge. If my gauge had its own light with the wires, i would have just tapped into the wiring for that LED. I'd suggest doing that. If your gauge is near the center console by your stereo... you can find a switched 12v from the wiring for your cigarrette lighter, or the light that illuminates your ashtray. I use neither of those devices, so i used my cigarette lighter to control the Stereo i installed. -Brian

I hate this state with a passion. Even tho there are no differences between CA EJ22T's and Non-CA EJ22T's... the state still will not allow you to swap the engines. Since this rule apply's in California, the sale of my EJ22T has fallen through, and now im stuck with the car. -Brian
