What's a good vaccum level for ea82t?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Vanislru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My RX sits at about -20psi at 1,000rpm idle. -Brian -
STeelydel was making brushguards about 5 years ago. And he is an oldtime USMB member. Saw him online a couple weeks ago, but not since. -Brian

Are you in the states or overseas? If your in the US, contact PK Davis. Last i heard, byb was out of the lift kit business. -Brian

Looks more like a hatch with a cut roof, or a bobbed brat. But if you look closly, it looks like hatchback tail lights instead of brat tail lights. Still a cool pic, and hanging with the toyota's Thats what i like to see. -Brian

You should look into mounting a RX AWD tranny. They should take the power of a 2.2, and they have dual range. The Low range of the RX is nothing like the EA81's low, so you wont do much rock crawling, but its definatly an improvement Might wanna think about adding 2" of lift, im sure mudrat could wip something like that up for you too. -Brian

Nobody knows what happend... except for Corky and the new owner himself. -Brian

THe V stands for Viscious and any '91 Turbo Legacy should have one. I dont think the Automatics got them, but i could be wrong. The rear end of the diff will be tagged as 3.9 LSD or maybe VLSD. -Brian
-
I dont think Zap bought it. But since its been such a secret since its been sold, it wouldnt suprise me if he was the owner. Corky never got it running? Thought it was drivable before it was sold. -Brian

With the RX Center diff open, the power isnt really sent to the front or rear. Its sent to whichever end has the least amount of traction... just like any open diff would. With it locked, it sends power 50/50 front and rear, like a locked diff would. A 4WD EA82 has no center diff. When you put your car into 4WD, its 50/50 like a locked diff would act. -Brian

They were offered in JDM Subaru Legacy turbo's from 1991 to 1994 I believe. -Brian -

PICS desperately needed...

Check this page for pix: http://corkysrocks.net/Conversion%204%20to%205.htm He has some pix of the XT6 stuff needed to do the swap. -Brian -
The Legacy wont have a rear LSD. LSD's only came on '91 Legacy Turbo's. THe Saabs I/C will work great on that engine. If you cant take the whole car, the front end is just as valuable. If the trunk is in good condition, grab that and put it on ebay -Brian

Heading to CA for Christmas.........

BAH I'll be working Sunday until 3pm. No chance of getting away to San J. -Brian -
For $250 get the whole car! You could double your money on just that 5spd alone. And if the body is straight, there are other parts that Legacy owners would buy off you. I say, if you have room for the Legacy at home, buy it and part it out. And good luck stuffing that EJ22T into your brat -Brian
-
Locking center diff and locking front/rear diff are 2 different things. My RX has a locking center diff. My Wagon has no center diff. My Legacy has an open center diff. -Brian
-
Rear LSD's are available on RX's and very few GL10's. There were never any front LSD or front lockers. -Brian

e71 or e81 difference?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to spinsirs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Look on the front of your engine block for either EA71 or EA81 stamped into it. It should be near the passenger side head. There are two types of EA81 carbs. Hitachi two barrel, and Carter-Weber one barrel. There are also Weber DGV 32/36 carbs that are an upgrade for the EA81. Might be too much carb if you have a EA71 however. -Brian -
EA82 Caliper questions
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I usually crank them in all the way. I made a tool to work, just ruined a large socket. I found a socket that was large enough to cover both of the divits on the piston. Then cut 2 sides from the socket leaving 2 pieces sticking out. It fits into any subaru brake piston and attatches to my wratchet. ALot easier than a pair of needlenose pliers. -Brian -

Let me see what I can do about getting sunday off. Dave, if I do, i'll be giving you a call and we can meet up on your way from Tahoe. Then we can journey down to San Jose. I need to talk to a few people at work. Not sure how easy it'll be to request a sunday off... but it is the slowest day -Brian -
