  1. WOW Northguy!!! THATS A STEAL!! Almost makes me wanna buy up another set of these tires before they discontinue them. -Brian
  2. The Guard was a trade, i gave him a set of 15" pug alloys and he fabbed this for me. Your best bet is contacting him. Let him know what it is you want, and he'll make sure you get it I drew plans for both my rack and bumper, and he was able to come up with exactly what I was looking for. He's a very busy man, you may want to contact him via eMail. -Brian
  3. http://www.coopertire.com/us/en/ProductDetails.asp?ProdType=LtTruck&id=28 Very nice tire. I was able to find a local tire shop that had a set laying around. Even after a round trip off-road adventure to Seattle and back. Then another Trip to Oregon to wheel with GD, they still have plenty of tread left for more wheelin I stuck with 4x140mm lug (standard lug pattern) so that I can use standard Subaru wheels if I ever need to. It's saved my rump roast more than once. The Rims are 14" peugeot Alloys. 14" steel is better for more abusive off-roading. -Brian
  4. You shouldnt need to worry about a welded rear diff or LSD for a while. I would focus on saving some $$$ to put into your rig 1st. You should keep an eye out for any Subaru between the years 1981 and 1984. Your choices include Wagon, Hatchback, Brat and even Sedan. If its a GL you are almost sure to have the 1.8 liter EA81. Anything 85+ will have a EA82 and will have a totally different body style. You also want to look for Dual Range 4 Wheel Drive, which will have 4hi and 4lo. You should take a long drive someday and search neigborhoods and old parking lots for parked cars for sale. In washington it shouldnt take you long to find a reliable Subaru. Going with 15" tires might not be best if your only running 26" tires. My tires measure 26.1" and i couldnt imagine off-roading with any less sidewall than what I have right now. 15" rims are best suited for larger tires above 28" in my opnion. My tires also ran aprox $80ea which was a very good deal, and now have over 2500miles on them from 2 road trips and plenty of off-road trips. Here's the tire I chose: http://www.coopertire.com/us/en/ProductDetails.asp?ProdType=LtTruck&id=28 I searched their webpage for local dealers and started calling them one by one. I was able to find a tire shop that had a set of 205/75R14's laying around. Couldnt beat it -Brian
  5. From the sounds of it, and your other posts, it seems like you want to do more off-roading then Rally'n. Dont worry, cause I called it rally'n too back in the day, no one ever knew what I was talking about either Logging roads are alot of fun, and Subaru's seem to love them. Ditto on the snowboarding too. With a 3" lift and 26" tires, you'd be setup to run almost any terrain... and forget resorts because in the winter you'll just drive up the mountain The EA81 is alot more reliable for off-road use, and will most likely take the abuse more than a EA82. EA82's are great for power and comfort, and if you were rally'n that maybe the route, but for off-road use and a 2nd off-road car you cant beat a EA81 (and they're a dime a dozen these days). With my rig, I did alot of off-roading before the lift and tires, and pre-beatup my car. I chose the 3/3 lift from PK and 26" Cooper Discoverer's. They were great for the price, and along with the Alloy 14" Peugeot rims they dont bog down the EA81 that much. Dont get me wrong, these car's werent meant to run large tires, and you feel it on the freeway... but at 7mph off-road they work great. -Brian
  6. Tony's the man... see your other thread about the offroad mods. -Brian
  7. Oh... there are no pix of my brushguard on his page. But here are some pix I took when I went and got it http://usmb.net/gallery/album175 -Brian
  8. http://twb.usmb.net Thats a site i threw together for Tony. You can contact him through email or the USMB. His nickname is Soobme and he does a great job fabricating everything from racks to bumpers and I believe he was working on some skid plates as well. I have a roof rack and front bumper/brushguard from him and I love them -Brian
  9. I need to get off my rump roast again and start adding new members. I was under the assumption we were terminating the gallery and upgrading to a better image hosting system, but i guess that plan died. -Brian
  10. W00T!! Got off my rump roast and moved some cars around. I tried to repair the '78s bad CV, but when i removed the broken stub, the Bearing came out with it So I ended up putting another CV in as a temp fix, w/out the inner bearing. I rolled the 78 out of the garage to put the '84 in. Now that the '84 is in, i'll need to dissasemble the front end. Im thinking of pulling the carb tonight, and tomorrow pull the CV's and lower control arms off. They'll all need to be replaced. While im at it, i'll be checking all the lift bolts. Now that i have pnumatic tools, should make it alot easier -Brian
  11. Good luck lifting the 78. Mudrat is one of the only ones I know of that has done it. From what I hear, they dont share the same rear end as any EA81's, and are alot more difficult to lift. Welcome to the board though Stick around and you'll learn alot about your cars. -Brian
  12. All RX's are Dual Range. Those LSD's will be gone come morning, they must have just brought them out to the yard. -Brian
  13. 1984 GL Wagon, 4spd D/R 4WD. 1.8L EA81 w/hitachi. 3" PK Lift 26" Cooper Discoverer STT's on 14" Pug alloys TWB Front bumper/guard & Soobfari roofrack. Uhm... yeah, nothing special... just another lifted Wagon. Affiliations: Pick one... HatchPatrol, Subaru4wd.net, Team213, Sierra Subies but most importantly just the USMB! -Brian
  14. Here's an idea... tell us about the "secret" when its revieled so we dont sit in suspense for 2 months. or tell ken to hurry it up so we can finally see this thing! -Brian
  15. I notice the struts are gone. Cant tell if there is an engine, but looks like one of the lift blocks are missing too. -Brian
  16. BAH @ NASIOC!!! That intake looks sweet. I need to get a bigger scoop for my Legacy, but with the new AWIC i guess i dont have to worry much about airflow. -Brian
  17. Eric, you gotta stop using your camcorder to take still's. Looks like Ken's Brat is going back under the knife. What mods shall we expect? or is it a secret. -Brian
  18. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! Thanks 3 eyed, this is exactly what I've been looking for. -Brian
  19. I'll be as far from civilization as physically possible Did your clutch go in without any hassles? I gotta get this tool to do the job, so as soon as I get it we'll hafta catch up and do some diff. work. -Brian
  20. Only '91's have the 3.9 VLSD, mine is a '92 and has open rear diff -Bran
  21. I know this should probably go in the Marketplace, but I'm trying to help out a few members so here goes. I picked up three Diamond Coilpacks from the Junkyard's over the weekend. I already have one, and I preffer it. These all came out of 1990 Legacy's with EJ22's, not sure if they are compatible with EJ20 or EJ18, but i know they're nice for us Legacy owners. Im offering all 3 up for sale to the 1st three reasonable offers. Feel free to PM me or reply here, consider aprox $10 for shipping and handling. -Brian
  22. I wonder if I can use the LSD in the Legacy? If i convert it to 3.9 of course. If so, this maybe something i might consider. A weekend in the sand would be awesome!! -Brian
  23. Sweet, thanks. Now that i have the pnumatic tools, i might as well get the right tools for the job. I scored yet again today at the yard. Found a Fully Loaded '83 GL Wagon, with a set of perfect velour seats. Its still 1/2 price weekend, and i got a smokin deal on them. -Brian
  24. sleep is for the weak! hahaha If I end up selling it, i'd be forced to sell it for pure profit. That most likely wont happen, as I REALLY want this LSD in my car. I dont need a welded diff... i had one, and it was great! until it broke (my bad). I also dont really want to be toting around a bunch of rear Axles just waiting for one to break. The LSD will make it easier, and give me more traction which is what im after. I have a good 3.9 to use, and i read Ken's article on swapping the gears... looks pretty simple. Are there any special tools I'll need? -Brian
