Does anyone have the SOA part # for the head gaskets? Or maybe a kit that includes the valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets and everything else?

The add says it has new t-belts so i wasnt going to worry about those. Just get a full engine kit and do the headgaskets and all the other gaskets I can. Last time I did a HG on a EJ it was a EJ22T and the engine gasket kit cost me almost $200

I want this forester but it needs head gaskets (like they all do). I am hoping I can get the Forester cheap but not sure if I will have money left to repair it. I know a few of you guys here have done this repair, whats it set you back? Am i lookin at closer to $200 in parts or $500 after everythings said & done? Thanks in Advance, -Brian

I ran 11psi in my RX (has the same MPFI EA82T your XT has) and this is what happend: This is with an intercooler installed, and a Bypass Valve installed running 11psi. I rebuilt that engine using the block from a Non-Turbo SPFI EA82 which increases the compression ratio. I then left the turbo at stock 7psi and kept my same Intercooler & Bypass Valve. The rebuilt engine with SPFI block and 7psi was much quicker than the stock EA82T block and 11psi. Your ECU wont let you go much higher than 11psi without cutting the fuel, so if you are looking for 20+ PSI you are working with the wrong engine. With that being said, listen to Gen Disorder, he may sound like he's harping on you but he sounds like this to everybody... even his friends. We know what we're talking about when we say "dont waste your time or money, you'll regret it later" Have fun with your XT. -Brian

I got a Losi Mini for my Daughter for X-Mas but she wont play with it, she wants to play with my AX-10 when we go out. So I play with the mini. Its a great little crawler right out of the box, but best inside on the couch... has trouble outside on the rocks. The 1st modification you'll want to do is weigh the wheels and change the tires out for a softer/stickier tire.

Its difficult to get the turbo to boost less... however if you install an intercooler you will drop the overall pressure some.

I have a EA81 steering wheel in a box, come over and pick it up, you can test fit it if you need to. -Brian

With your time frame I would definatly do the 6 lug conversion. Have someone like Scott do the hard work, and just bolt the hubs on. You can do a rear disc conversion at the same time. Who are you getting your lift from?

It wont rub at all. it will all fit perfectly. GO FOR IT!!

Okay... so I jumped on the bandwagon and got me one of these fancy RC crawlin Machines. Picked up a used AX10 from my buddy. I dunno how impressed I am yet, i havent been able to really abuse it. My main complaint right now is the lack of turning radius... but i am sure that is because it has spools in the front & rear diffs. That and the flex is kinda funny. The front has less flex than the rear.

Take your old cap & rotor with you when you buy a new one. i have seen both types of disty's in 4WD subaru's.

Adjust the rear bolt all the way... it will move, just doesnt look like it.

This is what you need a timing light for. It flashes right as the mark passes by, and allows you to see it.

On two occasions my hi-lift has fallen out from under my truck. Once it was not supported by jack stands, and luckily nobody was under it. The 2nd time i had learned my lesson and had jack stands under my axles... but still, had someone been under the truck there would have been serious injuries. Although we all here at the USMB admire your innovation, we do not promote unsafe ways to work on our vehicles. How do I change my wheel bearings??? With the propper tools and procedures. I do not care for any more stitches, or rushed trips to the E.R.

Yeah its pretty challenging. It is the most popular off-road destination in the united states (next to Moab). However its not terribly difficult. Plenty of stock jeeps can make it through now. I went and ran Fordyce Creek Trail last weekend... now THAT is a hard trail to do! Makes the Rubicon look like a mall parking lot.
