  1. the title says its a 5spd. I saw the drivers window was covered, but it looked like a sheet or something covering the window, maybe for shade? If it does need a window, you need a window from another 2 door subaru of the same era, 4 door subaru's have different windows.
  2. My hatchback would do 75 no problem. My Brat will do 88 (i have a speeding ticket to prove it) After you put a lift kit and bigger tires on it, everything changes though. And there's a slight chance it could be 5spd & 4WD... but that is only if the previous owner removed the 4spd and put a 5spd in, and its not a direct swap... so he would have to know what he's doing to pull it off.
  3. Okay, i am sorry... i spoke too soon. The description says the car is a 5spd, but they did not come 4WD & 5spd back then... all 4WD's were 4spd. However, there is clearly a 4WD badge on the back gate, so either he swapped a 5spd 4WD transmission into it (unlikely) or its ower doesnt know there is no 5th gear (likely) That's a good starting point.
  4. That car would be the perfect candidate, if only it were 4WD. That car is a 2WD version.
  5. My brat has been acting up lately, and i suspect the fuel pump as well. What did you end up replacing your fuel pump with? Everything I am finding looks like it'll run from $70 to $90.
  6. Hey man this is awesome! Bill seems to have figured out how to lift these, would be way cool to see this one sitting higher
  7. So, to kick off Spring Break, I took the girlfriend & her daughter to Reno to do some camping without snow. The 4Runner was packed to the gills, and off we set. The truck did great, no problems... except for a flat tire on highway 80 in blue canyon. Its a good thing I had a full size spare. We made it to Reno saturday afternoon to meet up Jibs, and he took us to a place he knows of past Pyramid Lake where there are some Hot Springs we could camp at. Lucky for us, the Nevada wind did not pick up until Sunday on our way out. On our way back from camp to Reno, my buddy took us to the Moonrocks so I could play for alittle bit. Man it is great to finally wheel without snow!! I didn't want to do anything stupid... I was wheelin on my spare tire, with a truck FULLY LOADED with camping gear, and I had my two girls with me, so I played it safe for the most part. I will definatly have to return, and try again with an empty truck & aired down there are some CRAZY lines out there. After we played on the Rocks, the girls & I headed back to Reno, where we had a room at Circus Circus waiting for us. There we spent 2 nights having a good time, then drove home. The drive home took about 3.5hrs, but only because of a snow storm that had rolled in. Near white-out conditions in truckee & 4" of fresh powder on the freeway at 6000' All in all, the GPS tracked 375 miles, round trip... and the truck did it all without a hitch!! Here, you can enjoy alittle video from the rocks
  8. Yeah that is what I am used to buying too... but seriously, all 3 stores i went to didn't have that type. I knew I had purchased a spare fuel filter for my old truck, and never used it. And luckily it was still in the packaging and was the right filter for the job! So i replaced them both. The old filter I took out, nearest the tank, I emptied into a clean magnetic tray... and there was a TON of sediment that came out. You could also tell the age of the filter and it's need to be replaced. I am certain some of that junk made it into the carb and that is what is causing me trouble now. I performed a few tricks on the ole' hitachi using some MMO & a piece of cardboard... and was able to suck most the crap through. The car ran great after the new filters and the short cleaning session. I drove it across town and back and it had more power than probably ever... But shortly after it started to buck. It doesnt want to stall as easily, and if i can get the revs up to 2,000 i can slip the clutch and power through it. I am going to take it out on the freeway tonight to let it cycle a clean tank... then see what happens.
  9. Knowing Austin, it wont take much bugging. I vote for Zebra stripes!!
  10. So my Brat decided to stop running yesterday. It runs, just doesnt idle all that well. Anyway, I traced the trouble to bad fuel filters, and I know the EA81 has two. I have been to 3 parts stores and managed to only find 1 of the two filters. The one I have has the vapor seperator, and is the one that goes under the hood. I am thinking, since I cannot find the filter that goes next to the pump, maybe I can just bypass it?? Does the EA81 really need 2 fuel filters? Seriously, what makes it so special??
  11. I put the 10" wide rims on the 4runner today. Had a shop up the hill do it, its a Toyota specialty shop where the dude works on crawlers primarily. Anyhow, i was worried about switching from black rims to chrome, but in the end I do not think it looks that bad. The truck handles the freeway alot better than before. On the drive up i had bad shake anywhere past 62mph and even at 20-35mph. But on the way home I was able to break into the 70+ range without a problem.
  12. its SUPER SIMPLE dude... Just unbolt everything. Then move it back an inch or two and bolt it all back up. Cake!
  13. Finished the Bumper yesterday. Welded some more plate in front of the winch for the fairlead. Then welded on two light tabs to hold some extra lights I might fabricate some mounts for turn signals... but for now I am pretty satisfied... now its time to work on the rear bumper.
  14. Sweet, we're going to have to find someplace warm with little snow
  15. Should weld the rear diff as well. Looks good
  16. A boost controller limits the amount of vacuum the wastegate recieves, and this lets the wastegate open later, at a higher boost. It will not help bring boost down, only help the turbo make more boost. I suspect maybe your guage. Did you say you had another gauge that only went to 7psi?? 7psi is about stock. And its easy to get the turbo to make as much boost as you want, just disconnect that vacuum line leading to the wastegate and your turbo will make 10, 20, 30psi of boost... but, it wont be pretty
  17. Make sure you reconnected the wastegate and that it is functioning properly. Your turbo should not be reaching 10psi, and you want to stop it right away before you blow your engine up. Glad you got the turbo working tho
  18. Alright! Just about finished Final steps will be to install the fairlead & i may weld a hoop... i may not. Today I hit it with a few coats of paint and did the final install on the winch. I think it turned out pretty good And here it is sittin next to the Brat. Just for comparison
