  1. i'd be guessing offset as well. where did these 14" rims come from?
  2. The guy in Eugene who built 99lego's bumper, is a crook and I wouldn't do business with him. I suspect he's the same dude doing the lifts.
  3. A vacuum leak will not really harm the engine, it will just make it run like crap. Most of your symptoms will be at idle... if it even idles at all with a leak that big. You can expect stumbling, poor acceleration and hesitation. I would plug that line for now. If I remember correctly, it leads to the air intake box where your air filter is. Look at the bottom of the airbox, and see if you find a broken hose or something there. Also, you should check to see if there are any other vacuum leaks. You can find them easily with a can of carb cleaner. Just let the engine run at idle, and spray carb cleaner around the intake manifold & see if your idle smooths out or increases. If it does, there is another leaking hose somewhere. Pinpoint it with more carb cleaner You should eliminate any leaks to make sure your engine is running its best.
  4. Definatly plug that, it is a vacuum leak right now. Even if you don't know where it goes, you cant leave it unplugged like that.
  5. does he even have that car anymore? I remember this dude. Met him at a WCSS, he was way cool. But havent heard from him in a while.
  6. Stock exhaust pipe is 1.75" if I remember correctly. I suggest you go up to 2" and no muffler
  7. Hi-Lifts are not for the faint of heart. Takes caution, like any tool, to use propperly and know how they're designed to work. You can never go wrong with a 60ton bottle jack. They are idiot proof
  8. Pumps are so easy and not that expensive to replace. Might as well do it. I have had several pumps cause intermittent issues, coils as well
  9. I would stop running regular, unless that was a joke. Definatly run the highest octane you can for your area. If you do not understand why, I suggest you research what octane ratings mean & how it relates to turbo cars etc... I am sure it will help solve your problem. Also an intercooler will help greatly.
  10. Stupid question, but you are running Premium fuel right? You could unbolt your downpipe, and this will bypass all the catalytic converters. The turbo itself creates enough backpressure for the engine. this would be one way to test to see if your cats are clogged. Things will be alot louder, i suggest a short test drive Other culprits could be bad timing, bad knock sensors or filthy MAF. Also fuel filters if those havent been changed in a while.
  11. I carry one like this in a spare craftsman tookbox. Same box has air hose, spare belts, gloves and other helpful stuff. Worked alright for the Subaru when I needed it. I have had a scissor jack fold in half on me before. I will never use one to live a vehicle again. For my Truck I have a hi-lift, its kind of impractical for a Subaru unless you have modified bumpers to handle it.
  12. If you disable the diaphram (ie. poking a hole in it) then your secondary will never open and you now have a 1BBL hitachi.
  13. Clutch Fans under water also increase load on the engine which reduces the HP that makes it to your wheels and in the end you're car ends up stalled in a creek or a hole somewhere. twin electric fans on a switch cannot be beat.
  14. In the past I have eliminated that Diaphram and modified the carburator to have a manual secondary. The linkages exist, and if done right you can force the 2nd barrel to open when throttle passes 3/4 stroke. Here is a write-up I did to document the work. http://www.subaru4wd.net/old/New/mods/carb.html The only downfall is a slight hesitation when the 2nd barrel opens. This is due to the unprimed secondary.
  15. You are running out of time, and fast JB! Winter is fast approaching...
  16. Arizona is quite a drive from Eugene Oregon. How's it handle the road trip??
  17. Look up Pooparu. He produces these. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Full-Set-of-GEN-1-or-GEN-2-Subaru-Brat-Vinyl-Stripes-NR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20ab54d304QQitemZ140313416452QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) I have seen them in person, and its hard to tell they are aftermarket. They are about as good as OEM as you will find.
  18. http://68.178.49.203/jon/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart1.pdf http://68.178.49.203/jon/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart2.pdf Part 1 & 2 of the EA82 FSM. I believe the breakdown on a FT4WD 5spd is in there somewhere.
  19. Go over all the grounds, maybe even add an extra ground wire from the chassis to the engine block.
  20. Doctors aren't cheap. Once, I crushed my finger while working on my Subaru. It required 6 stitches. For what I paid the ER, i could have bought 4 Subaru's. Its rediculous.
  21. I am almost positive a Gen1's bed is narrower than a Gen2's.
  22. Yeah, it must be new.. look at Northern California. We have world class trails all over, but nobody has put any up there. I dont have the right coordinates or pictures, or else there are 4 trails within a 150 mile radius of me i could add. I think i'll pass this link around to some of my other wheelin buddies and have them add stuff.
  23. Cant hurt my feelings. My rig has a tad bit more than 5" of flex I'm going to say the problem is no-swaybars. Or crappy tires.
