  1. Saw a red Legacy GT with washington plates... didnt see him run, but i saw him parked. A friend of yours?
  2. Step 1: keep the strut tops bolted to the body, and remove the one 14mm camlock bolt from the knuckle, holding the balljoint to the lower control arm. (the bolt is on the side of the knuckle itself) Step 2: have fat mike step on the lower control arm, forcing the ball joint out of the control arm itself. Step 3: Unbolt the strut tops, and you should have all the room in the world.
  3. So I went to check this out. Saw a few familiar Subaru's... the FWD XT Turbo with the welded front diff that Mike put together. Got to see him race. THere was also a '87 RX there with some extensive front end work, i didnt get to see him run, but he was parked there. Was only there for a couple hours, they were running FWD Neons and stuff. The course was real nice though. Might go back tomorrow afternoon and see if we can catch some AWD action.
  4. Any 13" wheel you find for a Subaru will be good for your 155's. I wouldnt worry about it all that much.
  5. wierd, you should be able to get the space you need by prying down the lower control arm. Your fat friend Mike should be more than enough help... all you are after is 2" of lift.
  6. Hrm... an EA82 with a 2" lift?? Doubt it, you wont find it here.
  7. Does that thing have a subie engine in it? I like seeing more bugs on this forum, lookin good!
  8. Find a local dealer, and start calling around. The cooper discoverer STT's were discontinued in 205/75R14... which is the size I was looking for (on a lifted subaru, so dont try it stock). Anyhow, after finding that out... i looked in my yellow pages and found 7 Cooper Tire dealers in my city. I called each one, and found a shop who happend to have four old 205/75R14 Cooper Discoverer STT's (the exact tire i was looking for) sitting in his shop collecting dust. $350 later I had the set of 4, and they were mounted & ballanced for me. Don't expect us to do all the dirty work for you. Telephone systems, although not as state of the art as the internet, still exists and still work pretty damn good.
  9. I agree, why go through all the trouble. You say it runs great, why mess with it?? Just sounds like a whole lot of unnecessary work.
  10. Ok nancy boi, now you know where I am commin from! Naw, we'll get it together. Just times are real tough, you know this... MAN!
  11. I too like the uniqueness of having a "Brat only" show. Its something I have always wanted to be a part of. Zap, this just means you gotta find another Brat before the show starts.... i think you have plenty of time.
  12. That looks pretty slick man! Plenty of room too. How did you end up mounting it to the roof??
  13. Fixed it for you, crybaby. If you want to wheel so damn bad, drive your happy rump roast down here! I have a ORV park 10minutes from my house that will eat your Brat up (ask RWD Jibs)
  14. You are not going to blow the motor up (well, unless its modified). But it wont be as much fun. You can expect some hesitation, bucking and poor economy. I suggest you research octane ratings, how it effects the fuel and the reason why your engine needs a higher octane fuel than non-turbo's.
  15. Rob, i understand completely and I wouldnt expect anyone to try and tailor the show to my needs. The trip wouldn't be just for a weekend, i have an old highschool friend moving to Tacoma in Feb., and plenty of other reasons to come up and visit... I'd probably make it a full week or two on my part. A Brat meet would just put icing on the cake
  16. I have had that problem with almost every EA81 subaru i have owned. Even my Legacy had the same problem, but that was with some REAL nice 6.5's I suggest you goto any local car audio shop and find some spacers. I did this with my Brat, I kind of like being able to roll my windows all the way down.
  17. I have been plenty of places in California where I have needed my Subarus 4WD. I live 2hrs from lake Tahoe, and make it a point to visit frequently. My point was, smog shops see more lexus, mercedes & bmw here than subaru's. Of course, my brat is FWD so it still gets the Dyno treatment. My primary concern is when the tech pulls the car onto the dyno, and sets the e-brake, then tries to get the car up to 25 >;\
  18. AWD Dyno's are not cheap. Smog shops are not willing to spend the extra money on the equipment if they are not going to get extra money for an AWD test. Remember, this is California. What do they need AWD for here???
  19. Im not down to wheel either, expecially if I gotta drive across Oregon to get home. However, the beach is real tame. At WCSSX in Astoria, I stopped at Fort Stevens State Park and we found some real nice access to the beach there. Plenty of parking lots too... maybe that could be a consideration?
  20. It gets harder and harder to own a EA81 & EA82 in california every year. Not only do we have to put up with smog, but our smog tests are run on a dyno. It has to pass under load at 25mph and 50mph. You fail one test, you fail them both. If you have an AWD subaru things are different...
