Some of my favorites from a recent trip to the Reno Nation Auto Museum. This is a 1936 Phantom i think. The plaque said this is the only one ever made. The front bench seats 4, and the rear seats 3 facing backwards: check out its dash: the very first RV ever made. a 1921 Ford conversion: Some crazy expensive Rolls Royce: How about a Jerrari?? A Jeep with a Ferrari engine in it Last, but certainly not least! My all time favorite of ALL TIME... a 24k gold plated DeLorian -
My '92 Landcruiser: Safariwagon-II

Get ready for 11mpg and lack of brakes. I am almost ready to sell mine because I dont feel safe driving my family around in it... the brakes are horrible. Also, the 94-97 have larger engines and brakes. they also have full floating rear axles, and come with the locker options. I would stay away from '91-'93 to be honest. -
I have bought EA81 CV's with 32mm castle nuts on them before. It was wierd... but it worked.
-
The issue is your front axle will not be powered and unable to pull you over an obstical. Its 2WD. Maybe we're talking about two different kinds of off-road here?
-
Sorry you gave up on Toyota. If you want a truck to just haul a couple things every now and then, a 2WD Nissan will be okay. If you wanna go off-road you might run into a couple issues.

Jack your car up, leave the tire in place and the parking brake set. Grab the tire from the top & bottom and pull the top towards you while pushing away at the bottom, then push the top and pull the bottom. Your wheel shouldn't budge at all. If it does, your bearings are bad. You do not need a press to remove or re-install front bearings, but you do need a steady hand, and alittle knowledge on how to not ************ things up with a hammer. knocking could be a CV joint, bearings, tie rod, stripped hubs, loose lug nuts, missing washer between the castle nut and the cone washer or maybe something is just loose. You could have also got a bad CV joint from the parts store. It happens.

I stopped using roll pins and switched to nails. Just like mentioned, bend the pointed end so it doesnt fall out. Dont lose too much sleep over it. Things will be fine.

1973 GSR Magazine Comparison
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Leeroy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Thanks for posting that, I love reading old articles like that. Makes me wish I coulda got one of these cars off the lot, and for $3300 SIGN ME UP! -
EA81's can have their head gaskets replaced with the engine in the car. As Tom said, there are holes in the frame rails so you can fit a few extensions and a socket through there and get all the bolts off. However, your back will thank you if you just remove the engine. Also, you really want to do BOTH head gaskets at the same time, and might as well do the oil pan gasket as well. Takes maybe 20minutes to pull the engine, however your probably going to spend an extra 3 hours hunched over the hood, cursing and punching stuff if you decide to leave the motor in. The EA82's head gaskets can easily be replaced by swapping out the entire EA82 with a EJ22

Yeah that was my old wagon. The lift kit ended up on my hatchback. The carcass of that wagon still sits at Jibs place, I believe he cut the entire front end off of it for some experiment of some sort -

You know you are old-school when you were there and saw him rolling in on 13" chrome Cal Masters -
I might have that coolant tank in the garage. Email me at my usmb nickname @yahoo.com if you still want it and i'll dig it out.
-
It might be able to handle the power, however you would never know cause you wouldnt feel any difference. The 3AT sucks up all the horsepower, its seriously a horrible transmission.
-
Do you want the same power or more power?? Same power = rebuild your 1.8 more power = swap in a 2.2 Ditch the 3AT no matter which choice you pick.

How much is my brat worth
TheSubaruJunkie replied to bighunter_2137's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just curious if ANYBODY ON THE USBM has EVER paid $6,000 for a brat?! Or even $8,000? $4,000 is even a stretch. Your car is worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. Chances are between $1000 and $2000. -

Here are a few good old pix from my WCSS3 collection: The Lifted XT6: same car... "gettin it!" And its hard to tell, but he caught air at the top of the "hill climb". This is my favorite RX picture ever (doesnt hurt that it was my car) My Favorite Brat picture ever (again, one of mine) -
Lucky for you, you can replace that windshield with any from any subaru wagon, sedan or hatchback years 1980-1985. Looks great
