  1. Goto Autozone and have them order you some GCK Axles. They are brand new, and they are much better than any reman axle you'll find. $100, no core, and chances are they will last longer than 20,000miles. -Brian
  2. I ran one, until it broke. I guess my welds sucked. It was a hassle to always remove and install one of the rear CV's everytime I hit the trail, but noah is right... its 100% better than an open diff. Now, i run a limited slip. It works alot better than an open diff, but not as good as a welded diff. And you cannot pull the driveshaft, as it would leak gear oil through the output shaft and drain your tranny. You need to pull the CV joint, either one... doesnt matter. -Brian
  3. No brake upgrages unless you swap to 5lug. -Brian
  4. Ok... fixed that problem. Apparently my webserver doesnt have a 404 error page, and it just gives you a random directory when it cant locate a URL. -Brian
  5. Okay... did some work on the hatchback's site. If you goto my main page, clicking on the hatch will actually get you somewhere! Still have alot more work to do. Dunno when I'll get around to doing it, next up will be the video's page. -Brian
  6. Member #2 if they kept track... but yes, i kinda do live here. Try the Photo's link at the top right... you may have access to uploading images to the USMB gallery. Every registered member should have their own gallery. -Brian
  7. I think you need more than 3 posts before you can attatch stuff. -Brian
  8. Oh damn, russ sold his wagon Well, hope its in good hands... dont beat that car up. I was running those rims on my RX when I did my suspension swap... and I had to go back to 13" rims cause those 15" rubbed after i dropped the front end. Here's a pic: Before: After: That was with stock XT springs though... after I installed RX springs, it raised the front alittle... might have solved the rubbing problem but by that time I had already installed 13" Rims. And here's a difference between the 2 springs. XT springs are on the left, RX springs on the right. -Brian
  9. KYB GR2's. I have a set front and rear. They're stiffer than stock struts. I am also using KYB GR2's from a 2WD XT for the front of my RX. They lower the front by about 2". Then look for springs from a RX which are stiffer than your GL10. THat will give you about an inch more clearance, dropping the front only about an inch or so. Makes my car handle like its on rails, expecially with the new 195/60R13's I am running. I could have went with 205/60R13 but that maybe too much tire for this little car. Also, XT6 sway bars are larger and a direct bolt in. I have not run any yet, but i might try to get some in the future. -Brian
  10. Dunno about those, but these are what I run on my RX: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+200&sidewall=Wide+Whitewall+1 195/60R13's. -Brian
  11. Oil doesnt need to make it back into the engine. It just pumps oil through that tube to the sender, and the sender monitors the pressure. It doesnt go anywhere after it reaches the sender unit. Mick, the brat looks good. Think those tires need alittle more meat tho -Brian
  12. DUde i gotta see this setup! Im thinking my BPV setup is leaking, i have a ton of hoses running from my valve to the intake boot... and its getting old, so I think this will clean things up and maybe solve a couple problems im running into. I also dont care much for a BOV Sound, but there really is no difference between a BOV and BPV, so there shouldnt be much performance gain. -Brian
  13. Nope. The Brat's bumper has a notch in it that allows the tail gate to sit flat when its open. If you dont have a tail gate, then you might be able to get away with running a bumper from a wagon/sedan. -Brian
  14. SO my parents '02 Outback is clacking and dad says he can feel vibration in the steering wheel. Sounds to me like the CV is going out. Of course, im not going to let them pay someone to do it, so Im gonna help my father get the job done. Ive done more EA81 and EA82 CV's than i can remember, and can usually have the job done under and hour. How much different are the new subarus? Do they still use pins to hold the CV to the tranny?? Does the hub and rotor still ride on the shaft? Im almost positive the castle nut isnt 36mm, hoping its 32mm like the '91 Legacy I did. -Brian
  15. Front or rear? If its the front, then yes... chances are your strut (that rod thingy with a spring on top) is bent. -Brian
  16. I drilled 2 holes in my 6lug rims so they would fit our 4 lug pattern. Im in the process of having my hubs drilled to 6 lug, cause i dont really trust my job on the rims. Regardless... yes, all this has been done, its simple.. its all in our off-road forum. -Brian
  17. Get a bigger hammer. -Brian
  18. Yes... they changed the logo in like 1991 or something. Check out the banner for the USMB. We incorporated both logo's into 1. -Brian
  19. Nobody i know of has done a 6lug conversion -Brian
  20. I dont think i ever replied to that thread.. but add one more to the Mechanic for me. -Brian
  21. Yeah with rust like that, and a failing motor... offer him no more than $500. He's right when he sais they are rare, but running subarus are more common and not much different (other than the LSD and the trans). -Brian
  22. Hrrmmm.... I dont think so. You maybe the 1st to attempt such a thing. Yes of course people have. Ozified was the very 1st to manufacture lifts in the US. Mass produce I should say. His lifts have been perfected by the australians and he has the rights to produce their product here in the states. its very easy and straight forward. His design is simple and shouldnt take more than a weekend for a novice mechanic with a set of basic tools (sockets & wrench set). He's been busy lately, but last time I talked to him he was back in business and I was able to order and recieve a lift for a friend in a matter of days. My lift, however, has been in use for almost 3 years. I recently transfered it from my 1984 GL wagon to a new 1984 GL Hatch I purchased. -Brian
  23. Ive seen EA81's in the junkyard with dash covers, so i know somebody makes them. -Brian
  24. Give you $30 for them both... $40 actually, $10 for your time. -Brian
  25. YES! I check mine after every wheelin trip. Or at least I try to. I installed my lift using locktite so Im hoping I dont experience anything like you did. Ive seen it before, and usually the outcome is grim. -Brian
