Have you not seen this post yet: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18330&highlight=marck I guess I should have bumped it more often. I contacted them a few days ago to see what is going on and I think they are almost ready to take our orders. The only problem is that it may take 4-6 weeks to make them and ship them off. If you decide to make your own header and downpipe, will you make them for others on the board? How much would you charge?

	bump...has anyone contacted Keith yet?

They are actually real easy to build. Look here: http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html

I gave Tom from TWE a call today! I didn't know exactly what to ask him. I told him we have six people interested in 6 downpipes and 6 headers. He said that that was enough to make them, but he will probably just build 10 of them anyways. The downpipes and headers are mandrel bent and are made with 304 stainless steel. He said that the labor would be cheaper to use bolts and nuts to connect the pipes to the turbo instead of using studs. I am not sure if we get to choose between bolts or studs. The end of the downpipe that points to the rear of the car will have a generic two bolt flange. It will not bolt to the stock mid pipe, but you wouldn't want to connect it to the stock pipes anyways. So you will need to figure that part on your own. He also said that these pipes will fit both EA82 and EA81 turbo cars. He said something about relocating the turbo on the EA82 a little farther back and a little higher up in order to clear the dual intake? He said something about working on a EA82T with a carb? I thought all turbo cars were dual intake? I think maybe he was talking about the EA81T or something. This is a custom order and he said that they do need a 50% deposit on custom orders. All custom orders take 4 to 6 weeks. He also said that he has two used gt17 turbos for sale if anybody is interested. He wants $375 for each of them. I don't know too much about turbos, so don't ask me any questions about that. He also said that we each need to email or call Keith Croucher at sales@techworkseng.com or (403)288-8568. Keith will not be in until Tuesday, so shoot him an email anytime or wait until Tuesday before calling. Headers I think cost around $365-$375 plus the cost of flanges. Downpipes will cost $169 plus the cost of flanges. I think the prices of the flanges are listed in the first post of this thread in Tom's email to WJM. TWE will send each downpipe and/or header directly to you. Place your order with Keith (man in charge of sales). Tell him exactly what you want and what flanges you want. I assume he will get you the exact price for the pipes with the flanges you want and shipping charges. Then you can pay him the 50% deposit. It wouldn't be a bad idea to mention the USMB so that they know that we are all in this together. Call Tom Penner at (403)288-8568 if you have any technical questions.

	bump again

	3 headers and 5 downpipes...bump
-
3 headers and 4 downpipes so far. Anybody else want any?
-
Not unless you plan on turbocharging it. The EA82T/EA81T headers and downpipes are not compatible with a NA EA82/EA81

3 downpipes and 3 headers so far.

Okay, lets see how many are still interested in the TWE headers and downpipes. Here is the original thread on it: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12054&highlight=tech+works And here is second thread on it: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13514&highlight=tech+works Here is TWE's last message to WJM: Here is WJM's last message: I want to know how many headers and/or downpipes before I contact TWE. Also let me know what turbo you plan to use because I am going to see if TWE will make these pipes with different flanges. So let me know if you plan to use the stock turbo, Legacy/Imprezza turbo, or whatever you like. The list attached will show who wants what. I'll keep updating it. TWE.doc

I agree that that is the ding dong box. I unplugged it a long time ago to make room for a cd player and of course to get rid of the annoyance . Everything else on the car still works without it. Thats interesting that there is no bell or buzzered inside it. I wonder how it works. Maybe you can plug it back in and search for where the sound is coming from.

I recently bought a VF11 RHB5 Turbo from a 91 Legacy. It has a crack near the wastegate. How common is this and is it serious? Is it repairable? I think I have the option of returning it and getting my money back. So should I keep it?

You can rewire the front and not the rear, or rewire the rear and not the front, or rewire both.

Engine Tap at start and high revsMarck replied to GregorS's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales... mine makes a hard tapping noise near the camcase when I start the car after a long time (1 month or so or more) of letting it sit. It goes away after it gets fully warmed up.

Q regarding flywheel lighteningMarck replied to subaru_styles's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales... How much mass should be taken from the XT6 flywheel? I think I heard that 6 pounds can be safely removed from the EA82 flywheel, but what about the XT6 flywheel?

I think 200 hp from the EA82T with stock heads and block is very possible. Thats what I am trying to do this summer plus I am trying to keep it smog legal and reliable (which is hard enough to do with a completely stock EA82T). I bet we can even get 250 hp or more from it, but I think 300 hp is pushing the envelope with the stock heads. Put some custom heads that WJM is talking about and who knows what is possible. To get 300 hp would cost a lot of money. I would rather drop in a EJ engine before I have some custom heads made, but thats me. If you want to build some better heads, then go for it. I am already spending too much money as it is to reach 200 hp for a car that hasn't run since August 2003. I need to start saving money for graduate school.

Spider Intakes, whats the differenceMarck replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales... There is an EGR on the turbo spider intake because I have one sitting next to me . There is no EGR on the NA spider intake. I think fuel injectors are different too. Not sure about the thermosensor. The 2 large main wire harness connectors are different to me thinks.

I shift at 4000 rpm and at 6000 rpm when I am really trying to get it going .

OK! Buying Cooling Sys. Flush Kit, Heater Hoses?Marck replied to SubeeTed's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales... Use 5/8 tee. Tee goes in the heater inlet hose. That would be the hose that goes to the aluminum water pipe. The outlet hose goes to a black metal pipe that goes straight into the waterpump.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to drop in an EJ22T or EJ20T?.....Unless you are looking for a bigger challenge of course .

anyone ever get a response from CCR?Marck replied to Humble Nuto 53's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales... I tried emailing them too and I never got a reply back. I eventually gave them a call and that seems like the best way to contact them. So call them up.

Be good idea to buy the HIGH VIBRATION Coil offered by Accel or MSD. These coils are epoxy filled (instead of oil filled) which makes them tougher and mountable in any position (even upside down). Highly recommended for rally, offroad, and jumping your subaru .
