  1. i don't know what model you have, but they are 120$ from 1stsubaruparts.com for my 92 loyale.
  2. well, im currently workin on this idle problem. simply put, it will fluctuate 'tween oh about 500-800 when warmed up.. it almost feels like it is missing, and the cadence of the exhaust changes about every 4-5 seconds.. kind of like "ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-pooo-ff-ff-ff" (sorry, tis best i can explain the exhaust sound, lol) after searching the site ive found a few things i am currently checking.. i found the often talked about curse of spfi idle problems, the infamous IAC valve. i popped off the IAC inlet hose and idle stopped completely (engine was cold).. when warm, it will still idle with it off, just idle crappy.. idle does not change if i cover hole with my thumb. i sprayed a little cleaner in there with no change. i also plan on swapping out wires, cap, rotor this weekend to see if this changes anything. plugs are new NGK's. any certain vacuum lines i should look at? any and all help greatly appreciated...
  3. well well, gotta new noise goin on this evening under the hood.. seems to be a combo chirp/clicking consistent with foot on the pedal.. push pedal get noise.. let off, noise stops almost immediately, altho i think i can hear it faintly just a bit. it is most pronounced between 2-3500rpm or so.. anything higher and it becomes so rapid you dont really hear it as much.. seems to be coming from the drivers side.. any takers? thanks..
  4. hmm just a thought, but maybe you shouldn't be getting into the unplowed lanes at 60+ mph anyways.. whats the hurry? the slower cars are going to get there in one piece. but if we're talking ability to do that, hell my Loyale in 2wd can do that with no problems. but just because i can, doesnt mean i will.
  5. ya, i'd try the usual tune-up stuff.. mine bogged at low rpm until i swapped in some new NGK's.. now she gets agoin pretty well...it also seems to run best when i let it warm up for 3-4 minutes before driving... no "bogging" at all...
  6. i dont believe he was comparing it to a quattro system.. he was comparing it to an 01 Jetta...
  7. let me get this straight... because of these little things you are unsatisfied with the car? any "real" problems with it.. motor problems? tranny problems? i personally like a manual prop on the hood.. no hydraulic crap to go bad or not work in the extreme cold.. and "only" 2 heated seat settings? how many does a person need? hell who needs heated seats anyways...
  8. ahh tis funny, but to be completely honest when i read it this morning i had it completely figured out how i would come up with the cash all in about 4 seconds... y'know, if they could do it, and keep the price around 10 or so they'd sell the sheeat out of em. out here in montucky at least....
  9. well, lets see.. i wouldn't go as thin as a 5-30, esp with summer 'round the corner.. i personally run castrol gtx 10-30 and it works well.. as for gear oil, id stay away from valvoline.. i swapped some in there last fall, and it was garbage.. i'll be putting redline in there shortly..
  10. hey, you need to understand that most of us don't have an auto tranny, thus the lack of immediate feedback...good luck getting any future answers..
  11. tell me about it... this has been the worst winter in my 5 years out here in MT.. snowpack in the mtns is about 50% of average, and down here in the valley it has been in the 40-50's almost all winter.. tis very surreal to be out mountain biking in february..
  12. which it also does in many places in the lower 48 as well..
  13. oh, ya thats right.. the only place it snows is up in Alaska..lol
  14. Edmunds just did a report, rating the legacy best poor weather vehicle, 2nd only trailng a land rover. even rated higher than mighty Audi.. hmm.. http://aolsvc.edmunds.com/reviews/list/top10/104466/article.html
  15. as long as it fits, it theoretically should work as long as the corresponding wires are connected. must yards have shelves of decent aftermarket head units for cheap. however, wiring speakers is a whole different story.
  16. for the wiper problem, go to Napa and get some "wiper snuggies". they work great..theres a photo of them in this thread.. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16425&page=2&pp=10&highlight=wiper+snuggies
  17. not yet.. i cleaned a couple grounds, but no change. i can't really jump into it fully yet, as its pouring rain out. hopefully this wwkend i'll have the time and weather
  18. when you say it doesnt play, does it show the track playing on the display, but no sound? or do you just hear the disc spinning, but nothing on display? if worse comes to worse, you could always just go over to your local big box store and slap in a 120$ Pioneer and have good sound.
  19. http://1stsubaruparts.com/ a lot of folks on here seem to like them.
  20. ya, i was thinking somewhere along the lines of bad grounds. looks like ill be cleaning them up this week, weather permitting. mid 40's and rain.. its winter you say?
  21. ya, its not really the loudness of the fuel pump that worries me. It's the fact that i can hear the fuel pump whirring in time with the signals. i presume it is drawing power from the fuel pump. hmmm
  22. Ok. Ive owned the Loyale for over a year. The fuel pump has always been quite noisy. A loud humming noise to be exact. i've put something like 14,000 miles on it with no problems. However, whenever i use the turn signals, i can hear the fuel pump pulsing in time with the turn signals. Any ideas? thanks...
  23. whats the condition of the exhaust system? compression? fuel filter? plugs gapped correctly?
