  1. The bracket it screws to bolts to the engine with 3 12 mm bolts. Do you have the old or new style tensioner? You can replace the new with the old one. I have the parts if you need them. Larry Colorado Springs.
  2. Sounds like headgaskets. Let it cool, Jack the front as high as you can or put it on a hill. Fill the radiator and overflow bottle. Start the car and burp the coolant by squeezing the upper radiator hose until the bubbles stop coming out and then put the radiator cap back on. Now if you blow coolant out of the overflow bottle you most likely have a HG leaking. You can check it with a chemical tester as well. NAPA has them if you want to do it yourself.
  3. Yes, it's the Bearing. I have two good hubs 35K on them froma 99 Legacy. PM me if you want them. Larry
  4. It's an AWD Car, if you flat tow it you will trash the transmission. Be safe not sorry, get it towed with a flat bed tow truck. The FWD fuse put's the transmission in FWD with the car running. It won't solve the brake issue.
  5. Most likely the motor is just going out. Pull it, sometimes there is junk in there that may be part of the problem. Just a connector and 3 screws. There is no temperature control. Check to make sure there is voltage at the fan when the switch is on and it's cold/not working. Could be a bad switch or the resistor pack which controls the speed. Are you checking it on High?
  6. I've used the Harbor freight ones for years, never had a problem. I do oil the threads to keep the nut from gauling. Larry
  7. I've been searching the yards for one for the 98 Outback that I have and have not seen another one like it. Starting to think it's an aftermarket even though it looks stock. UPAP and pull the complete unit.
  8. Yep, I got everything including the bracket. Now I just need to find a good 2.2 to drop in. Thanks, Larry
  9. Nope, just pulled everything off a 2000 Legacy. Looks like it will bolt right up.
  10. Picked up the conversion kit from the UPAP about $75 for everything. I'll let you know how it goes.
  11. Has anyone put the newer 2000 Legacy Power Steering pump into a 98 Legacy? It looks like if you pulled the complete system and hoses it would bolt right in. Looks like the newer Power Steering pump does not have the same leak issues as the older pumps. Are you seeing fewer leaks on the new pumps? Thanks, Larry
  12. If you need injectors I have plenty. Complete set send to $20. You can back probe the connector and check for voltage. If you have power most likely a plugged injector. Larry
  13. Remember, with no load the DMM can lie to you. Check out www.brighterideas.com Dan's book and LoadPro are great.
  14. Yes, you can do it. It is held to the support with 2 10mm nuts. No you don't have to replace the seal.
  15. Pretty easy to pull it as previously stated. UPAP price is $60 for a complete bumper. Not bad.
  16. I'd purchased a aluminum radiator for a 2001 Impreza, I posted it here. All aluminum the only down side was it did not have the auto trans cooler in it if you needed that. Great price too.
  17. Tape will not hold pressure. I've installed early 90's radiators into 98-99 Legacy Outbacks, you just have to get the fans and the top brackets as well. Easy to find all metal aftermarket radiators on the older subarus that are almost new.
  18. She took it into one of the larger tire stores, tires, Struts. Got it back and it was worst than before. Turns out they had put the wrong struts on it, so they corrected that and replaced the rotors. A happy Subaru now.
