  1. Has been done countless times with a manual trans. The automatic involves a whole new set of problems. Using a 4EAT from a Legacy as mentioned above is the answer.

  3. Plan it through PM. Set a date far enough in advance for people to adjust their schedules. Those that make it can and those that can't don't!
  4. Then you do it... Here is the title for your post... Subaru meet, Spokane area, (insert date here)
  5. Or... You guys could do this on your own and meet the folks from your area. Not bustin' on ya just giving a suggestion.
  6. It was nice seeing everyone! We had a good time. Thanks for the set up "Z".
  7. LOL, try an age appropriate one!! He is pretty good at most skill games. I did manage to get one from him today!
  8. Unfortunately, without seeing the rig we are more clueless than you on this one. Pics maybe?
  9. Do you have any local car washes that are still open? If so, spray off the cross member and bottom of the engine again to remove the brake clean. Then let it sit on the card board. There very well may have been more than one leak.
  10. The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same. The difference is that the later motors have two extra threaded holes. The bolting will work with 4 bolts instead of 6.
  11. This was rumored a couple of months ago. I heard he was teaming with Chris Atkinson. If this is true it should be entertaining to say the least! Makes sense why they brought Mira in then doesn't it?
  12. I have thought about that as well. We'll see when I get to that point. 4.7 would be a huge upgrade over stock. I haven't done a tape measure verification but it appears to be the same width as my Toy axles. But, it is disc. It does accept the toy third member. I am adapting/merging the Toy and Isuzu brake lines. I like the idea of having line lock instead of cable E-brakes.
  13. There does seem to be a difference. I have seen many have issues with bearing and gear issues. Most are boosted but I have personally had both the input bearing issue and shredded teeth from second gear. I literally removed every tooth from both gears on both shafts. They are not nick-named the "glass box" for nothing. That is why so many people upgrade to six speeds. The only down fall to using the older boxes is gearing. Newer ones have better gear to gear ratios, imo.
  14. 4.30/1 They came from a V-6 auto. The gearing works well and the teeth are big enough not to worry about breaking them. Just need the dual cases now.
  15. Well, I have started the change from street/trail truck to trail truck. I installed an Isuzu rear disc brake read axle. Replaced the broken front axle. I got new poly bushing for the rear springs. The welded diff goes back in the rear. An ARB unit goes into the front. I have a flatbed for it. I will be dove-tailing it starting at the rear tires. And removing about 4-8" off the exsisting frame. My brother has been starting a fab shop and he has done an exo on his Cherokee. Mine is next, along with skidders and a re-done roll bar for the bed. Line lock and a new proportioning valve will finish of the brake system. Also moving the shock mounts to get a couple inches more travel. Should work out well. Then just need dual cases and high steer to finish it off.
  16. Only if you have a transmission jack or a lift. Otherwise, it is not easier. I have done it both ways on the floor. Never again will I pull a trans for a clutch. Sorry fair, just my opinion.
  17. There are a few ways to get the diff ratio's. One is from the part number decal on the bellhousing of the trans. The other is to open up the rear diff and get it from the ring gear. A dealer should also be able to tell from the VIN. Good luck and hopefully you'll get a good one the first time.
  18. What are you basing this off of? How many 99 and newer Impreza's or Legacy's have you had to base this on? Again you are arguing your opinion from what others have said. Statements like, "I'm guessing", "Gloyale (or someone)", "i don't recall", ... I can give you case after case of broken and worn late model transmissions. They do not all go bad but they do go bad. To say they do not is just simply uniformed.
  19. You mean like this? The street tires are 225/60R16 Rallycross tires are 27" Kuhmo mud terrain
