  1. I guess you decided not to search for the dozens of discussions that already existed on this subject. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32800&highlight=trax http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=106392&highlight=trax http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58933&highlight=trax Here are three that pertain to your discussion.
  2. If you order with Jason or Jamie your order will be there the next day, maybe second. Unless the part is back ordered. Which may be the case with 1st. Let me know how it goes. I have contacts in Subaru corporate that would love to know this type of thing is happening.
  3. Yes, that is what Scarff and the phone number would indicate.
  4. I believe 1st subaruparts is now run by Walker Subaru in Renton Washington. Seems there in-person service reputation has finally gone to the internet as well. Go direct with either Jamie at Chaplins(http://www.chaplinssubarugenuineparts.com/ ) or Jason at Scarff( 1-866-528-5282 ). You will need to ask for internet pricing when talking to Jason. Both are very good at what they do. Both will provide you with excellent customer service and prompt shipping
  5. Good for you for searching. Many have done this. I have one for mine. Unfortunately, not many pics of the bottom of mine. Thankfully.
  6. Actually, he OWNED DC shoes. He sold it long ago. He did buy his car and had the support of Subaru. As far as money... to say that someone does not need any more money seems somewhat short sighted. Especially since you do not know him or his drive. And, when he started he wasn't that good. He spent time at Oneil's school. He improved himself from there. He still has times when he takes unneccessary risks that take him out of contention. He will learn that finishing is more important than finishing first. I know Ken Block. I have spoken with him many times. He is very passionate about rally. But, he is young in the sport. And as such, there are growing pains. If you continually use your own money to fund a race team you eventually run out of money. The fastest way to make a million dollars racing is to start with two!
  7. Subaru isn't going anytime soon from what I hear. I am sure he'll do fine financially and driving. There will be a growing period though.
  8. Yes, it is possible. However, I would not do it myself. The time bent over the fender versus working on an engine stand and not having a sore back far out-weigh the time to take out the engine.
  9. That is what I come up with. Neither will give a cel until they die. I am guessing MAF.
  10. Doesn't anyone read the vehicle? It is a 2000 Impreza. Spit belt = bent valves. Nothing more to check.
  11. Seriously? It gets him a seat in the WRC. No brainer!
  12. The pistons will have to have offset combustion areas or you will have to rework the combustion chamber of the EJ22. The heads should bolt up. I believe there may be an issue with a water jacket though. Try searching on RS25, I saw some threads there about it. If you are getting new pistons I still think the best route is with the earlier N/A motor. Adjust your compression and run with it. Besides, the EJ22 heads will fit for sure.
  13. Jerry, if you want to build a franken-motor use a 1999-2004 2.5 N/A block. STi block will have lower compression and there will be large differences between the combustion chamber and quench area.
  14. Buy OEM or used. Do not buy from a bolt supplier unless you can be sure that they are the proper bolts. The flywheel bolts are low profile for a reason. Too big of a head may cause interference between clutch disc and flywheel. Besides, for the price quoted, it won't cosdt much to get the right ones.
  15. I would question a tranny shop owner that didn't notice the transaxle vs a transmission. After building an adapter to bolt them together. Then figuring out the set up for the convertor it might work.
  16. I am even more skeptical than all of you. Good thing I do not live near there as it would probably insult me a little. Someone local should check the validity of this.
  17. Oh yeah... I have one set of spares. We'll see how long they last.
  18. Why not? It is very easy and convenient.
  19. So an update... The Isuzu axle did not accept the toy 3rd. Ended up going with 4.56 gears. ARB rear diff and line locks. A bonus that I had not planned for was now I am using a Detroit instead of a lock-rite in the front. I found a slightly used one off of Craigslist for $300. Couldn't pass it up. So, now I have better gearing and locked front and rear. Hoping to have enough cash left over to add high steer also. Hoping to be trail ready in a month or so with the flat bed installed as well.
  20. http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/wheels/wheels.html Aftermarket 13" wheels section. No manufacturer has been identified.
  21. Sounds like the belt is off. Do you still have my number? I'll pm it to you any way. Give me a call and I'll see if I can give you a hand. Ken
  22. That is slightly dramatic. They are not always 30K motors, even though that is what is claimed. The best thing is having old service records. Emissions hoses get hard and brittle. Check for signs of overheating. Check oil and radiator caps for water/oil residue. Even wear on tires with an AWD Subaru is a must. Timing belt should be done in 60K intervals. Although, it is not an interference motor. A non-turbo model may be better for a young driver though. Carfax may be able to give you some good info. Rust issues will show on front frame rails, rear wheel wells, pinch welds(rockers). Non-modded vehicles are reasonably reliable. If it has been beaten on or modded I would probably pass on it.
  23. If you can not find one let me know. I have extra's.
