What EA82T Performance Exhaust Are You Running?
calebz replied to TurboXT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I put a 2.5 inch trubo-back on my old wagon. Only difference I noticed between that and the crappy made 3 inch that was on there is that with the 2.5, you can't hear the turbo through the tailpipe very well.. -
Start here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=73676 Read every reference link. Then use the search function to fill in the blanks. Head back to this thread if you have any questions after that.

Here is another suspension writeup http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79257 My apologies if this comes out sounding snippy. It is one thing to be a n00b and ask questions without searching. It goes somewhat beyond that when the n00bs come in asking for new writeups when so many members have spent time compiling and presenting data. A number of us have just quit doing it since no one will search for it anyway. Everyone wants a new one just for them.

You could just look for the article that was posted 2 years before you joined. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50400 Hell, I didn't even have to use the search button to find it (Assuming you were looking for 5 lug swap stuff - the precursor to the best lowering options. Kinda hard for me to know since you were pretty ambiguous in your request for a new write up of... something)
-
Which swap are you referring to? XT6 swap? Front XT swap? Aftermarket springs on stock suspension swap? This is kind of a general 'lowering' thread. Given that there are multiple ways of doing it, there would be multiple writeups. How about you pick one of the methods and write it up for us?

Really? Take it to PMs

The pictures in the OP belong to Brad. Not sure how much time he spends here anymore. I may have copies of the pics. If I can find them, I will fix the links in the first post.

Old Subaru's from little Iceland
calebz replied to KristjanJohann's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OP - Thank you for the awesome pics and the bits of history. I have a request. Could you find it in your heart to give English lessons to some of the members here? Your use of the language is substantially better than that of many of our American members. -
Not all of the rest of us.

Pretty much anywhere that sells auto parts. However, I prefer Subaru factory head gaskets. Many milesand many mods. I have blown the ************ out of an EA82 in nearly every way possible. I have never popped a head or head gasket though.

Does the 85 have the separate parking light switch on the top of the steering column? I have purchased two 87s for cheap because of battery drain issues that were fixed by turning that switch off

Binding while turning in 4WD
calebz replied to szybura's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
None of those are AWD As far as binding while straight, it could be non matching tires, could be that you bound up either during a turn or on a dry spot and the drivetrain hasn't released the energy yet. -
I'm in Plano. My Subaru involvement hasn't been much lately, but I'm still in the game.

Sealed wheel bearing question
calebz replied to Greenley's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The thread has been reported. The information, disseminated. Going to close this one. Normally I would take this opportunity to tell GD to back off a little, but this time he stuck mostly to the facts. New guy, I don't know you. I do know GD. He is obnoxious. He is condescending. He is also right more often than not. You on the other hand are an unknown. If you like it here my recommendation would be to either stay unknown and lurk, or pick your e-battles more carefully and with more considered response. -
If you are using it to make your daily bread, snap-on is probably the way to go. If you are the occasional user, I have found that Ryobi's battery operated impact is a great bang for the buck.

ok so i had a hankering for an american car
calebz replied to subaruguru's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
My Aunt and Uncle bought a Kititas district bus years ago and converted it to a motorhome. It was one of the most awesome motorhomes ever -
I might have a good set of both turbo and non-turbo MPFI heads in the stash pile. PM if interested.

EA82 Collapsed lifters= no start?
calebz replied to WoodsWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have seen that once before. There was even a little scarring from them rattling around in there. We put it all back together in about 30 minutes and that motor is still running 4 years later. -
That's a nice looking wagon. Depending on where you are, you could get up to $2000 if all the little crap is fixed.
-
First thing that comes to mind is a vacuum leak. Time to bust out a can of carb cleaner and check all the gaskets.

My stock ea82Ts have been fun and fairly reliable. The one that has stayed with me through all of them (almost) is much more fun, much faster... and substantially less reliable.
