  1. Either get a tranny jack or get some stronger friends. I just went through this a few weeks ago.. Ended up just getting help from someone bigger than me that could bench press the tranny up in there long enough for me to get a bolt on it. Word of advice... next time, pull the motor.. its a lot easier.
  2. I strongly recomend against changing from a FI setup to a carb.. .. bad idea IMO..I would however be interested to know where you found turbo kits and such for your car. I have yet to really se ANY aftermarket performance stuff for GL/Loyales...other than ythe standard generic cone filters and such. For getting more power.. you're pretty limitied on what can be done easily.. Freeing up the airflow for the intake and exhaust is about the first thing.. then a hotter coil and better wires..you will notice a little more pep. If you are trying to have a 200hp soob, you have the wrong car Oh yeah.. and ditch the auto and put a 5 speed in there.. those slush boxes rob all sorts of power.
  3. I have only seen it done on 4WD vehicles.. and it was a straight bolt on process.. no drilling required.
  4. Best advice.. tell your chevy friend to stick with chevies. Sounds like you are good to go.. just bolt 'em No need to worry about the master cylinder or proportioning valve.
  5. 89 Same question in a post less than 2 weeks old.. Try the old gen forum
  6. Sorry for your loss.. But I know what the new project is, so I am happy for you.
  7. It would be extremely helpful to know what car, year, fuel type you need the parts for.
  8. About 80% of my IC plumbing is stock Starion/Conquest plumbing( other 20% is stock RX7 plumbing) Black plastic and rubber coolant lines will be Ok for a temporary setup.. Using them is a great cheap way to get IC going.. but after its all fitted and plumbed, it would be best to go with silicon and steel.
  9. No switch on the shifter on a 5 speed.. its in the tranny... get a multimeter and a wiring diagram and get to work.
  10. 5 speed and air suspension.. Thats unusual..
  11. Ok.. for those that have been anxiously following my progress( both of you).. Thanks again to 78 turbobrat, I got my Blow off/recirculation valve all plumbed in .. Time for a hood scoop.
  12. I got my first TurboWagon for veeerrrryyy cheap because of that problem.. They thought it was a wiring issue and I didn't know any better, not having tinkered with soobs much. Found it in the owners manual after letting the car sit in my driveway for 9 months.
  13. Relax, its Ok.. I feel the same way about car domain. We are generally a much friendlier group here... Well.. except maybe Corky:lol:
  14. Really?.. I wish you would have told me that before I put my pugs on a year ago.. You will only need to do fender/wheel well mods if you decide to go seriously oversized.
  15. Wheels.. Peugeot 505 Steels and alloys.. not pretty, bit bigger than the stock 13s.. Bolt pattern is 4x140.. good luck finding anything aftermarket. Carb. most common fix for carb problems in old soobs is to get a weber. Its about $350 for a brand new one with the adapter plate. Do a search for those 2 things and you will find much more detailed info.
  16. How much it lowers it depends on where you are starting from. If you have a 4wd wagon, it will bring it down about 1 3/4 inch
  17. I'v edone it in a number of different cars.. I do it to my EA82T at every oil change.. about 5-6 days before I change the oil, I drain about a quart out and refill with dexron. Then do the oil change like normal.. has helped quite a lot with lifer tick. Dexron ATF won't do any damage to your motor if mixed with the regular oil.. Its just lightweight oil with a high detergent content.
  18. No locking diff on an 86. 87+ had a locking center diff
  19. Richie, I think the plentium is part of your computer:lol: The plenum is what you're after..
  20. $300 sounds a bit steep unless it comes with the converter and some sort of good warranty.. When I pulled the one from my 2wd turbowagon, I sold it for $40
  21. Yup. What he said.. Works like a charm... Although technically you sould have it vacuumed out to get rid of any residual refrigerant or moisture.
  22. 85-86 Turbos are 25btdc. 87 and up are 20 Info from FSMs Great data guys thanks again.
