  1. 87 Does have an internal regulator.. I had a similar problem a while back. Turned out the starter was toast. Is your amp gauge reading high? Are the dummy lights on the dash lit while driving? Those are telltale signs of a bad alt/VR Start with connection checking.. then maybe move on to the starter.
  2. I think its more likely that the Accell itself is crapping out. I , and a number of others have dealt with that already. Mine quit this past summer.. All started with a miss at high RPMs.....
  3. Welcome. I would have sent you over here in the first place when I saw you on NASIOC, but I got in trouble last time I did that
  4. That one doesn't light up wihen you turn the key on.. at least none of mine have...maybe 85-86 is different?
  5. 1) If its a GL-10, or has GL-10 badges, chances are, its a turbo.. This is not a guarantee since there are also NA GL-10s, but the odds are in your favor. 2)Every EA82 turbo car I have had says TURBO on the rear doors and tailgate(I have had a bunch of wagons..no sedans or coupes for me ) 3)If its a wagon with a D/R 5 speed, 99% chance it is NOT a turbo. 4) Full time 4WD 5 speed in my experience, always = turbo. 5) Rear discs. All turbos .. and I mean all.. came with rear discs.. Non turbos did not. 6)If it says RX on the body, Its a turbo Often, if I run across one on ebay or something I will request underhood pics.. sometimes I get em, sometimes not Added note.. Loyale only came turbo in 1990.. so if it is a 91-94, no turbo Edit.. Have heard rumors of a very few 91 loyale turbos.. never actually seen one.. so that cuts at least a couple years off your search. PS.. look familiar?
  6. no, its not simply because the green one is a gen 1.. thus 1000 times better looking than any gen 2 could aspire to be. It is nice though.
  7. FT4WD D/R right? With difflock? Neither my 88 parts book or 88 FSM list any sort of EA82T with a 3.90 Factory stock rear diff on an 88 RX is 3.70 LSD.
  8. Its a 99 forester.. its always in 4wd. Some places will actually shave a new tire down to match diameter and save on drivetrain wear But honestly, if you are over 50% wear on your existing tires, just throw down and replace all 4. Its one of the prices you pay for having AWD
  9. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11539&highlight=lug (insert obligatory "search n00b" comment here ) Although it appears to be a pretty complete and succinct write up, theres no mention of axles...
  10. Yup, they do exist. FT4WD single range. 3.90 with LSD.. Theres one not too far away.
  11. Classic Alternator death signals.Pegged gauge.. Idiot lights on.. yup.. dead alt.
  12. There are a few sets of desert rats floating around the forums.. Some of the older members may know where they are.. Main thing is, This place is full of people who don't want to, or can't spend a ton of cash on a 20 year old beater (myself included).. So desert rats give way to cheaper alternatives like pugs, 5 and 6 lug conversions... Welcome. Seek and ye shall find.
  13. Interesting, I was wondering the same thing. Side note: How did you go about cleaning the mating suface of the head? did you get it that clean by hand or did you take it to a machine shop?
  14. Umm.. no.. just all around no. I ran my first turbowagon with the middle cat missing.. striaght pipe in place of it. Not only was there no back firing, but it passed emissions.. go figure.
  15. Could you put up some pics of what you are referring to? Also, I would like to see pics of the IC listed in your sig. My experience with saabs tells me that the saab 9000T IC is waaaayyyy too big to be a good fit on an EA82 car.. I would be interested to see how you got it in there.
  16. Didn't see the car? what a jackoff. Its called being aware of your surroundings.. And last time I checked, while not commonly practiced here in Tx, its still a rather important function of operating a motor vehicle. Glad to hear the soob got its licks in though. Also very glad you weren't in it
  17. The inlet side is very similar and can be made to fit with minor modification. The exhaust side is completely different.. 5 bolts instead of 4 .. but a WRX down pipe will take care of that.. can be had on NABISCO for about $60 on average for a low-medium mile DP.
  18. $25 per wheel is not bad at all if they are straight.. Thats about what I paid for mine. Pug owners charge each other a hell of a lot more that that. When I had my 505, the average price from other pug owners was $50-$65 per wheel:rolleyes:
  19. Need tons more info. Is it turning over without firing? Not turning over at all? that would be a good place to begin.
  20. Email sent.. hurry please.. this is getting uncomfortable:-p
  21. I have the exact tranny you found in the yard.. came out of the same car. single range FT4WD with difflock and LSD. it has 195,000 and performs flawlessly. Added note: there is a 3.90 version of this tranny with matching 3.90 LSD.. it came in the XT6 as an option.
