Battery Relocation :)
I can't believe that you didn't turn the radio off on the drive home. It seems like you'd want as little electrical drain as possible.

That sounds really cool. Old school is the way to go.

Battery Relocation :)
I put the kit together myself. The battery box was only $12 (discount import parts), the battery kill switch was $18 (Baxters), and the wires & battery fittings were like $120 (car toys). I know I could have used cheaper wires, but I'm running a lot of stuff and I really didn't want it to fail. (7 lights up front, after market stereo, twin hella horns and two big back-up lights) Here's a link to another tread talking about relocating the battery: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88477

$2300-$2500 for head gasket?
Pooparu replied to johnette93's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think I paid about $1700 for a head gasket job on my '98 outback. That included new head gaskets, water pump, Timing belt & pullies, plug wires, re-gasket of the entire motor & a clutch.

Battery Relocation :)
You should also get a battery shut off switch. It's best to just bolt the battery box down. That's what I did.

The wiring also goes through the fire wall near the heater core (I think it's just motor sensors).

It loops in and out of the legacy. Just start pulling everything out, and you'll have to get into the driver's side fender as well. I found it to be easier to just take it off. Sorry no pic of the carnage.

For all those EJ22 swaps looking for more power.
Pooparu replied to Subafreak's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI've been wanting to do this with my ej swapped hatch. I also wanted to get the EJ22 heads ported and polished too, and get some aggressive street cams. I was also thinking about using ARP studs for the heads so I can really get them tighten down. My friend was thinking with that motor in my hatch I'd have a great power to weight ratio (It may be as quick as a 2002 stock WRX). It'd be great if someone could do a good write up on this build with photos. If no one gets to it before I do my build I'll try and put something together. Thanks for the post.

It's not really that hard or time consuming. I went to the junk yard and pulled fuel lines for EFI Subarus and it didn't cost me anything, and it took me all of 5 to 10 minutes to replace all the rubber lines in the car. Any job worth doing is a job worth doing right. I know you might be eager to get your car going but cutting corners now will be much more costly and time consuming in the end. Trust me, take the time.

Molalla Mud Bog (Oregon) Feb 7th
http://www.molallamudbog.com/Home.html Mike contacted me about going to this. Is anyone else down to go Muddin'? It might be kinda fun to through our Subies around in the muddy field, but I think we'll stay out of the mud holes (or at least I will). So come one come all and let's get some Subarus out in the mud.

Alright.... new project
I can. Most EJ swaps are front wheel drive with a 4wd option, but you run around on the streets in FWD. It's not too bad hooking up. Check out my link below and you'll see my EJ Hatch that I built.
